McDonald's Stock Drops After CDC Identifies E. Coli Outbreak Linked To Quarter Pounders

McDonald’s Corp. MCD shares dropped after Tuesday's closing bell following a U.S. Centers for Disease Control And Prevention (CDC) report stated an E. coli outbreak was linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounder burgers.

The Details: CDC said it is conducting a "fast-moving outbreak investigation" with most of the sick people reporting they ate Quarter Pounder hamburgers from McDonald's. The number infected currently stands at 49, with 10 hospitalized and one death. 

The outbreak is currently in 10 states in the West and Midwest.

McDonald's pulled ingredients used in Quarter Pounder burgers and certain products containing those ingredients will not be available for sale in some states. 

The CDC said investigators are working quickly to determine which ingredient caused the outbreak.
