Uber Expands Grocery Delivery, Adds FreshDirect to Uber Eats for First-Time Third-Party Access

On Thursday, Uber Technologies, Inc UBER announced an expansion of its grocery delivery offering by adding FreshDirect, the leading online fresh food grocer, to the Uber Eats platform in New York City.

This partnership marks the first time FreshDirect’s catalog will be available for on-demand delivery on a third-party app.

Starting Thursday, FreshDirect’s selection of farm-fresh produce, premium meats and seafood, dairy products, and household essentials will be available for ordering through the Uber Eats app.

FreshDirect will now offer delivery to Uber Eats’ extensive customer base, offering even more options for same-day delivery and further expanding its reach.

Uber has rapidly expanded its grocery and retail offerings, partnering with leading supermarkets, specialty food retailers, and convenience stores.

Revenue in the US grocery delivery market will likely reach $327.91 billion in 2025, as per Statista.

Statista expects U.S. grocery delivery revenue to post an annual growth rate (CAGR 2025-2029) of 8.59%, reaching a market volume of $455.88 billion by 2029 from an estimated $259.13 billion in 2025. User penetration in the U.S. grocery delivery market will be 43.3% in 2025.

In February, Uber reported fiscal fourth-quarter 2024 revenue growth of 20% to $11.96 billion, beating the analyst consensus of $11.77 billion. Uber reported adjusted EPS of 23 cents, which missed the analyst consensus of 50 cents.

Revenue from Mobility grew to $6.91 billion, up 25%. Delivery was $3.77 billion, up 21%, and Freight was $1.28 billion, flat year over year.
