Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban has a message for America's federal workforce: “Thank you. I can’t imagine the sh*t you are going through right now. Thanks for your service to our country.”
Cuban shared the post on Bluesky on March 27, where it quickly gained traction with nearly 100,000 likes and over 10,000 reposts. The response was an outpouring from federal employees and their supporters who echoed his gratitude and opened up about the toll recent changes have taken.

One commenter, a Department of Veterans Affairs employee, replied, “This whole issue has had a visible effect on patients, staff and everyone’s family. I refuse to allow it to affect the care that my patients need, but I admit that I am concerned.”
A retired federal agent weighed in too, calling the situation “systemic abuse of those who serve our country.” Another user wrote, “Mark Cuban is proof that you don’t have to be a dick because you’re rich.”
The backdrop to all this is growing anger over sweeping changes to federal agencies led by Elon Musk under the Department of Government Efficiency Cuban has made it known that he supports cutting government costs, but not like this.

“Ready, Fire, Aim Is Not a Plan”
When an old clip of Cuban from 2017 resurfaced showing him calling for the government to be made smaller and more efficient, critics accused him of flip-flopping. Cuban didn't back down.
“I am all for cutting gov costs, then and now. I’m even more for efficiency,” he wrote. “I would have a plan. Ready, fire, aim is not a plan.”
He criticized Musk’s approach of slashing programs without understanding their value or consequences. “Cutting programs without knowing if they would have saved taxpayers more than they cost, or saved lives, is a mistake,” Cuban said.

He also pointed out the ripple effects: “What do you think happens to home values? What services will they have to end? What about the local businesses?”
Cuban has been especially vocal about DOGE's changes to Social Security. On March 19, he accused Musk of executing a “back door way to cut payments” by eliminating phone support and closing dozens of offices. Seniors are now being told to go online to access or update their benefits.
From retired Marines to current Transportation Security Administration agents, many shared how recent cuts and chaos are affecting their livelihoods, mental health and sense of purpose. Some described being overwhelmed, others said they were afraid to speak out for fear of retaliation. As one user summed it up, “The stress of waiting for a RIF email is like torture. No reason things have to be this way.”
