Toyota To Replace Parts Only When Necessary (TM)

In a statement issued March 29, Toyota TM requested dealerships order parts only when necessary to meet customer demand or emergency need. The statement is issued in an effort to minimize the effects of Japan's March 11th earthquake and tsunami on the company. Up until now, Toyota order processing fill rates have remained normal due to Toyota's safety inventory. Japanese parts suppliers affected by the disaster have had their normal production interrupted. Inventories of these parts are currently adequate with less than 1% of parts being placed on controlled allocation in an effort to maximize future availability. While the parts flow from Japan returns to normal, parts on controlled allocation must be ordered by release forms for specific customer vehicles. Toyota also reiterated its commitment to "minimizing inconvenience for our customers as our Japan-based parts suppliers recover."
