SAIC Awarded $53 Million Contract to Support the TRICARE® Military Health System

Science Applications International Corporation SAI announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the Department of Defense to provide information technology services and electronic health record systems support to the TRICARE® Management Activity Military Health System. The contract has a one-year base period of performance, three one-year options, and a total value of $53 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed in Falls Church, Va. and San Diego, Calif. MHS manages the TRICARE® health care program for more than nine million active duty, National Guard and Reserve, retired service members, their families and beneficiaries. Under the contract, SAIC will provide IT services as required, to improve the current electronic health record by addressing existing technical and functional EHR challenges. The services include the necessary fixes to the legacy EHR systems and architecture so that the EHR capability will be more reliable, stable, user friendly and perform with adequate speed. The contract also provides for the new capabilities that need to be implemented in support of the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago.
