On Monday, Teledyne Technologies TDY announced it has secured a $7.8 million contract with Middle East Task Company (METCO).
As per the deal, the company will supply its advanced LVSS (Lightweight Vehicle Surveillance System) to a prominent military organization in Saudi Arabia.
The contract also covers mission support equipment and training, though the company did not disclose exact quantities.
Notably, the FLIR Defense LVSS is a high-tech surveillance system built into the bed of a pickup truck.
It uses a powerful thermal camera and radar to track up to 500 targets from over 10 miles away. A single person can set up the system's 16-foot mast in less than 30 seconds from inside the truck.
METCO, working with Teledyne FLIR Defense and the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), has a plan to localize this effort. The LVSS systems are set to be delivered by the end of 2025.
Stan Crawford, senior director of business development for the Middle East at Teledyne FLIR Defense, said, “The LVSS platform combines technologies FLIR Defense has pioneered for decades. It has been deployed successfully worldwide, helping customers secure their borders, critical installations, and shorelines from threats day or night.”
Last month, Teledyne FLIR Defense secured a $15 million contract from the German Army to supply its Black Hornet 4 nano-drone system.
