Teledyne Technologies Inc. TDY secured a $74.2 million, four-year contract from the U.S. Army.
What Happened: The company aims to further develop advanced multi-sensor detection systems for the Stryker NBCRV to strengthen defense against CBRN threats.
Teledyne FLIR, as the lead integrator, is modernizing the NBCRV sensor suite with advanced CBRN sensors, autonomous drone integration (SkyRaider with MUVE B330), and a command-and-control system that enhances decision-making through sensor fusion and automation.
Following successful prototype testing and a $168-million production award last year, FLIR has now received a new $74.2-million contract to develop an expanded Sensor Suite (Capability Set 2.2), including six new prototypes, enhanced sensing, autonomous drone controls, and upgraded hazard prediction software.
Why It Matters: JihFen Lei, president of Teledyne FLIR Defense, emphasized the importance of enhanced sensor capabilities in preparing troops to detect and respond to CBRN threats.
"We're proud to expand our role in this critical U.S. Army program," said Lei.
Work on the NBCRV program will continue through 2028 across FLIR Defense sites in Oklahoma, Maryland, and Arizona.
Last week, Teledyne Technologies announced a $7.8 million contract with METCO to supply advanced LVSS surveillance systems to a major Saudi military organization. The agreement includes mission support equipment and training, with deliveries expected by the end of 2025.
Mounted on pickup trucks, the LVSS uses powerful thermal imaging and radar to track up to 500 targets over 10 miles. Teledyne FLIR Defense is working with METCO and Saudi Arabia's GAMI to support localization and long-term strategic cooperation.
Price Share: TDY shares are trading lower by 0.54% at $435.54 on the last check Wednesday.
