DuPont Co DD reported a 23% rise in its third-quarter net income on Tuesday. DuPont's quarterly profit surged to $452 million, or $0.48 per share, from $367 million, or $0.40 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its adjusted profit came in at $0.69 per share. DuPont's sales gained to $9.4 billion from $7.07 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.56 per share. DuPont now projects full-year adjusted earnings of $3.97 to $4.05 per share.
3M Company MMM reported a drop in its third-quarter profit. 3M's quarterly profit fell to $1.09 billion, or $1.54 per share, from $1.12 billion, or $1.55 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its sales surged to $7.53 billion, from $6.87 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.61 per share on sales of $7.78 billion. 3M projects adjusted 2011 profit of $6.07 to $6.17 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $6.16 per share. 3M cut it 2011 sales growth forecast to 3% to 4%, from its prior forecast of 6% to 7.5%.
Reynolds American Inc RAI reported a drop in its third-quarter profit. Reynolds American's quarterly profit declined to $367 million, or $0.63 per share, from $381 million, or $0.65 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Earnings certain costs, Reynolds American's earnings came in at $0.70 per share. Its revenue dropped 1.7% to $2.2 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.73 per share on revenue of $2.16 billion.
Delta Air Lines Inc DAL reported a rise in its third-quarter earnings. Delta Air Lines' quarterly earnings gained to $549 million, or $0.65 per share, from $366 million, or $0.43 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its revenue climbed to $9.82 billion from $8.95 billion. On an adjusted basis, Delta Air Lines earned $0.91 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.94 per share.
T. Rowe Price Group Inc TROW reported a 9.7% rise in its third-quarter earnings. T. Rowe reported its quarterly profit at $185.5 million, or $0.71 per share, up from $169.1 million, or $0.64 per share, in the year-ago period. Its net revenue climbed 16% to $679.4 million. However, analysts were projecting earnings of $0.73 per share on revenue of $692 million.
Simon Property Group Inc SPG reported a 19% rise in its third-quarter earnings. Simon Property also lifted its full-year funds from operations forecast to $6.80 to $6.85 per share, versus its earlier forecast of $6.65 to $6.73 per share. Simon Property reported its quarterly profit at $274 million, or $0.93 per share, up from $230.6 million, or $0.79 per share, in the year-ago period. Simon Property's FFO climbed to $1.71 per share from $0.90 per share. Its revenue gained 9.7% to $1.07 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.68 per share and FFO of $1.66 on revenue of $1.03 billion.
CIT Group Inc CIT swung to a Q3 net loss from a year-ago profit. CIT reported a quarterly loss of $16.3 million, or $0.08 per share, versus net income of $115.8 million, or $0.58 per share, in the year-ago quarter.
Office Depot Inc ODP reported a rise in its third-quarter profit. Office Depot reported its quarterly profit at $100.9 million, versus a year-ago profit of $41.3 million. After preferred dividends payment, the company's earnings came in at $0.28 per share. Excluding the tax benefit and other charges, the company's per-share loss was less than a penny. Its revenue dropped 2.2% to $2.84 billion. However, analysts were expecting a penny per-share profit on revenue of $2.89 billion.
United States Steel Corp X swung to a Q3 profit on Tuesday. United States Steel reported its quarterly earnings at $22 million, or $0.15 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $51 million, or $0.35 per share. Excluding net foreign currency losses and other items, the company's adjusted earnings came in at $0.72 per share. Its revenue gained 13% to $5.08 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.52 per share on revenue of $5.05 billion.
United Parcel Service Inc UPS reported a 5.1% rise in its third-quarter earnings. UPS reported its quarterly profit at $1.04 billion, or $1.06 per share, up from $991 million, or $0.99 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue climbed 8% to $13.17 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.05 per share on revenue of $13.17 billion.
Coach Inc COH reported a 14% surge in its fiscal first-quarter earnings. Coach reported its quarterly profit at $215 million, or $0.73 per share, up from $188.9 million, or $0.63 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue climbed 15% to $1.05 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.70 per share on revenue of $1.02 billion.
Xerox Corp XRX reported a 28% rise in its third-quarter earnings. Xerox also narrowed its full-year adjusted earnings forecast range to $1.08 to $1.11 per share, versus its earlier forecast of $1.07 to $1.12 per share. Xerox projected its Q4 adjusted earnings of $0.32 to $0.35 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $0.32 per share. Xerox reported its quarterly profit at $320 million, or $0.22 per share, up from $250 million, or $0.17 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding certain items, Xerox's earnings came in at $0.26 per share, versus the company's forecast of $0.24 to $0.26 per share. Its revenue climbed 2.9% to $5.58 billion, versus analysts' estimates of $5.57 billion.
Waddell & Reed Financial Inc WDR reported a 1.7% drop in its third-quarter earnings. Waddell & Reed reported its quarterly profit at $39.8 million, or $0.46 per share, down from $40.5 million, or $0.47 per share, in the year-ago period. Its operating revenue gained 17% to $297.7 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.50 per share on revenue of $299 million.
Lennox International Inc LII reported a 19% drop in its Q3 profit. For the year, Lennox International now projects adjusted earnings of $2 to $2.15 per share, versus its July forecast of $2 to $2.30 per share. Lennox reported its quarterly profit at $33.8 million, or $0.64 per share, down from $41.8 million, or $0.76 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding certain items, Lennox International's earnings from continuing operations came in at $0.80 per share. Its net sales surged 13% to $923 million. Sherwin-Williams Co SHW reported a 2.6% rise in its third-quarter earnings. Sherwin-Williams reported its quarterly profit at $179.9 million, or $1.71 per share, up from $175.3 million, or $1.60 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue rose 14% to $2.48 billion. The company in July projected earnings of $1.65 to $1.75 per share on a sales growth of 10% to 15%.
TD Ameritrade Holding Corp AMTD reported a 44% surge in its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings. TD Ameritrade's average daily client trades surged 31% y/y to 415,700 and rose 12% from the earlier quarter. TD Ameritrade reported its quarterly profit at $163.7 million, or $0.29 per share, up from $114 million, or $0.20 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue gained 16% to $703.5 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.31 per share on revenue of $715 million.
Agco Corp AGCO reported a 35% rise in its third-quarter profit and lifted its full-year forecast. Agco lifted its full-year profit forecast to $4.30 per share on revenue of $8.7 billion to $8.8 billion, versus its earlier forecast of $4 per share on revenue of $8.5 billion to $8.7 billion. Agco reported its quarterly profit at $84.4 million, or $0.87 per share, up from $62.3 million, or $0.65 per share, in the year-ago period. Its net sales gained 27% to $2.1 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.75 per share on revenue of $2.02 billion.
BG Group PLC BRGYY reported a 25% rise in its Q3 net profit. The company also lifted forecast for profit at its liquefied natural gas division to $2.4 billion for the year, versus its earlier forecast between $1.9 billion and $2.2 billion. BG Group's quarterly net profit climbed to $1.06 billion, from $849 million, in the year-ago quarter. Its adjusted profit came in at $1.02 billion, versus analysts' expectations of $975 million. Its total revenue climbed 22.4% to $5.39 billion from $4.41 billion. BG Group's diluted earnings per share came in at 31.1 cents, versus 25.8 cents.
Weatherford International Ltd WFT reported a strong rise in its third-quarter earnings. Weatherford reported its quarterly profit at $190.4 million, or $0.25 per share, up from $94.7 million, or $0.13 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding certain items, its earnings came in at $0.26 per share. The company projected earnings of $0.24 to $0.26 per share. Its revenue climbed 33% to $3.37 billion, versus analysts' estimates of $3.32 billion.
India's Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd reported a 7.3% rise in its Q2 consolidated net profit. The company's consolidated net profit climbed to INR3.08 billion, from INR2.87 billion, in the year-ago period. Its consolidated sales surged 21% to INR22.68 billion from INR18.70 billion. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of INR2.93 billion on sales of INR21.40 billion.
KPN NV reported around 10% drop in its Q3 net profit. KPN's net profit fell to EUR368 million, from EUR406 million, in the year-ago period. Its sales dropped to EUR3.26 billion from EUR3.38 billion. However, the company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization dipped 12% to EUR1.25 billion.
Volvo AB VOLVY reported an increase in its quarterly net profit. Volvo's net profit in the three months to September 30 rose to 3.83 billion kronor ($583 million), from SEK2.81 billion. Its revenue gained 15% to SEK73.32 billion. Volvo's operating profit surged to SEK5.77 billion, from SEK4.91 billion and truck orders gained 18% to 59,975 units.
Novartis AG NVS reported a 7.9% rise in its Q3 net profit. Novartis' quarterly net profit climbed to $2.46 billion, from $2.28 billion, in the year-ago period, versus analysts' estimates of $2.81 billion. Its revenue gained 18% to $14.84 billion, from $12.58 billion, versus analysts' forecast of $14.8 billion.
BP Plc BP reported a strong rise in its third-quarter net income. BP reported its quarterly profit at $4.91 billion, or $1.55 per American depositary share, up from $1.79 billion, or $0.57 per ADS, in the year-ago quarter. Its replacement-cost profit came in at $5.14 billion, or $1.63 per ADS. BP's adjusted replacement-cost profit came in at $5.3 billion. BP's revenue climbed 31% to $97.6 billion from $74.65 billion.
