Factiva GM Traci Mabrey, in an interview with Benzinga, revealed the secrets behind the Dow Jones subsidiary’s success.

"We’re wholly transparent about all of the sources of information that are propagating our stories,” she says.

Factiva, a business intelligence platform, provides access to over 32,000 media sources from nearly every country globally. Its archives go back as far as the 1940s.

“Where we’ve been working and will continue to work is surveying and being in contact with our end users across multiple generations,” she adds.

Mabrey, who has commercial oversight for the Factiva portfolio, leads the strategic reimagination of the 24-year-old platform and rejuvenates it with the latest technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). She also happens to be among the featured speakers scheduled to appear at Benzinga’s Fintech Deal Day & Awards, on Nov. 13, to discuss data-driven decision-making and risk management.

The Future of Digital Assets conference will follow on Nov. 14. Both events will be held in New York City.

Background: Mabrey had a distinctive career in finance, holding notable positions at Pershing, Thomson Reuters and Broadridge. Besides her current role, she's active in professional women's and non-profit organizations and frequently speaks at industry events.

At Factiva, she acknowledges that modern times require evolving solutions. Therefore, the firm launched a reimagined product experience in 2023 that aims to simplify research with enhanced user interface, a responsive mobile-first design and personalized search results.

"The role of knowledge management has rapidly evolved—people expect an experience like that of their favorite app while still requiring trusted, premium information," Mabrey said in a press release.

Intending to be the leading news and business search engine for decision-makers, Mabrey set her sights on AI, the hottest topic of this year.

While she admits generative AI's potential in content drafting and information gathering process, she believes it falls short of the artistic spark that only a human could produce, which is so valuable to humans in their time of need.

"When there’s a moment in your life of challenge, of true change, of kind of pivoting mindset – you go to those creative places. You go to a very human element," she empathetically stated at the Collision Conference in July.
