One Phone to Dwarf them All: Sony Ericsson Rumored to be Making a 4.7-inch 3D Device

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a tablet meets a phone! Word on the street is that Sony Ericsson SNE is planning to release a 4.7-inch 3D device, presumably one that will be marketed as a phone. This news is currently nothing more than a rumor (picked up by Gizmodo via Android and Me), but it provides an interesting peek at what could be Sony's future. Sony is no stranger to making oversized devices. The upcoming PS Vita is positively huge – the largest of any handheld game machine released in the last 10 years. Only tablets are bigger, and none of them have been billed specifically as gaming devices. But will this device materialize as a phone or simply a baby tablet? With Sony already developing two tablets, the latter seems unlikely. But does anyone really want to carry around a phone with a 4.7-inch display? Follow me @LouisBedigian
