More Than A Golf Tournament:
This summer will be the fifth iteration of the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit. In 2020, Rocket Companies Inc RKT announced the “Changing The Course” initiative to bring internet and computer access to underserved communities in the Detroit area. As part of the tournament kick-off, Rocket Mortgage announced that 70% of homes in Detroit are now considered digitally included, up almost twofold from 40% when Rocket started its efforts in 2020.
“The Rocket Mortgage Classic is about more than creating a world-class golf event, it’s about giving back to our hometown of Detroit and serving our community in the most impactful way possible,” said Jason Langwell, Executive Director of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. “Through our Changing the Course mission, we are honored to invest in Connect 313 and the residents it serves.”
Holes 14-16 at Detroit Golf Club will once again be “AREA 313” during the tournament. Players who score birdies or an eagle on one of those three holes will trigger a donation from Rocket toward the Changing The Course initiative.
