I just read an article on the Arabian Business website, Time to be threealistic?, that talked about the current challenges and the future of 3D in cinemas and homes.
I found it interesting that the article discussed how SENSIO (SIO.V) beat out RealD (RLD) last year to win the rights to broadcast the FIFA World Cup in 3D. Yet the stock performances of the two companies over the last year couldn't be more different, with RealD trading near it's 52-week high and SENSIO trading near it's 52-week low.
RealD closed at $29.54 on Friday, giving it a market cap of about $1.5 billion. Since the beginning of March alone it's market cap has grown by almost $500 million.
By contrast, SENSIO closed at CAD$0.90 on Friday, giving it a market cap of less than CAD$50 million.
