Koninklijke Ahold NV AHODF reported a 6% increase in its financial first-quarter net profit on Tuesday.
Ahold reported its quarterly net profit at 291 million euros ($426 million), versus a profit of €274 million, in the year-earlier period. Its net sales climbed about 6% y/y to €9.25 billion from €8.74 billion. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of €279 million. Its underlying retail margin surged to 4.6%, from 4.2% in the year-earlier period.
