Metals Mixed, Copper Soaring On Stronger Yuan

The metals market is mixed today, with copper soaring based on a stronger Chinese yuan today. Equities are positive, but have come well off their highs of the session. Copper is up 12.35 cents to trade at $4.0120, a gain of just over 3%. Ipath Dow Jones Ubs Copper Total ETF JJC is up $1.38 to $52.32, a gain of 2.7%. Silver is down sharply, down 97 cents to $38.36, a loss of 2.46%. Shares of Ishares Silver Trust ETF SLV are down $1.10 this morning, to trade at $37.36, a loss of 2.9%. Gold is down $24.50 an ounce to $1,759.80, after the CME announced last night it would hiking margins 22%. Shares of Spdr Gold Trust ETF GLD are down $2.71 to $171.87. Platinum is up $9.60 an ounce, trading at $1,781.30, a gain of nearly 0.5%. The platinum ETF settings First Trust ISE Global Platinum Index PLTM is down 2 cents this morning to trade at $22.42. Palladium is up $4.30 an ounce today, trading at $731.10 an ounce. Shares of ETFS Physical Palladium Shares PALL are higher today, up 26 cents to $72.55.
