Metals Mixed, Gold & Silver Soaring

The metals market is mixed today, thanks to the weak jobs report during the month of August. Equities are sharply lower, with all three indexes down markedly. Copper is down 5.85 cents to trade at $4.1020, a loss of 1.4%. Ipath Dow Jones Ubs Copper Total ETF JJC is down 50 cents to $53.43, a loss of 0.9%. Silver is up sharply, up $1.48 to $43.01, as it looks like $50 is the next mark for the precious metal. Shares of Ishares Silver Trust ETF SLV are up $1.24 this morning, to trade at $41.76, a gain of 3.22%. Gold is up $51.80 an ounce to $1,880.90, a gain of 2.1%. Shares of Spdr Gold Trust ETF GLD are up $4.73 to $182.60. Platinum is up $25.50 an ounce, trading at $1,878.40, a gain of 1.4%. The platinum ETF settings First Trust ISE Global Platinum Index PLTM is down 61 cents this morning to trade at $23.78, a loss of 1.5%. Palladium is down $12.90 an ounce today, trading at $777.50, as it looks like it will break $800 an ounce. Shares of ETFS Physical Palladium Shares PALL are sharply lower today, down 93 cents to $76.98.
