Thomson Reuters Corp TRI reported a strong rise in its third-quarter profit on Tuesday. Thomson Reuters' quarterly profit climbed to $659 million, or $0.44 per share, from $356 million, or $0.32 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its adjusted profit came in at $0.56 per share. Thomson Reuters' revenue gained 6% to $3.45 billion. Its revenue from ongoing businesses surged 8% to $3.26 billion. AmerisourceBergen's quarterly profit surged to $147.3 million, or $0.54 per share, from $141.2 million, or $0.50 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its shares outstanding dropped 4.4% to 271.4 million. AmerisourceBergen's revenue climbed to $20.41 billion from $19.72 billion. However, analysts were expecting a loss of Y35.60 billion. Astellas Pharma Inc ALPMY reported a 17% rise in its net profit for the six months and raised its full-year forecast. Astellas Pharma's net profit for the period rose to Y51.33 billion, from Y43.89 billion, in the year-ago period. Its operating profit climbed 22% to Y83.00 billion from Y67.92 billion. Astellas Pharma's revenue gained to 483.93 billion, from Y461.73 billion. Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd FUJHY reported a 27% decline in its net profit in the first half ended September. Fuji Heavy's net profit for the period declined to Y32.75 billion, from Y44.57 billion, in the year-ago period. Its sales dropped 19% to Y655.02 billion, from Y803.99 billion. Mitsubishi Corp MSBHY reported an 8.3% drop in its net profit for the six months ended September 30. Mitsubishi Corp's net profit for the period dropped to Y245.69 billion, from Y267.96 billion, in the year-ago period. Its revenue gained 4.5% to Y10.009 trillion from Y9.581 trillion. Mitsubishi Corp's operating profit declined 15% to Y168.61 billion. Hitachi Ltd HIT reported a 33% drop in its net profit for the fiscal second quarter. Hitachi's quarterly net profit declined to Y48.0 billion, from Y71.9 billion, in the year-ago period. Its operating profit dropped 9% to Y118.2 billion from Y129.5 billion. Hitachi's revenue gained 3% to Y2.422 trillion from Y2.350 trillion. Credit Suisse Group CS reported a 12% rise in its third-quarter net income and announced its plans to make more cost cuts. Credit Suisse's quarterly earnings rose to 683 million Swiss francs ($777.6 million), or 0.53 franc per share, from 609 million francs, or 0.48 franc per share, in the year-ago period. On a core basis, Credit Suisse's pretax profit from continuing operations climbed 38% to 1.04 billion francs. Its revenue gained 8.5% to 6.82 billion francs. Credit Suisse's underlying net income, excluding fair-value gains on the company's debt and other special items, came in at 441 million francs. Teijin Ltd TINLY reported a 61% drop in its net profit for the fiscal second quarter. Teijin's quarterly net profit fell to Y2.9 billion, from Y7.5 billion, in the year-ago period. Its sales dropped to Y204.0 billion, from Y207.3 billion. Teijin's operating profit dropped 23% to Y9.6 billion from Y12.4 billion. Sandvik AB SDVKY reported a 60% decline in its third-quarter profit. Sandvik's quarterly earnings dropped to 626 million Swedish kronor ($96 million), or 0.53 krona per share, versus 1.58 billion kronor, or 1.33 krona per share, in the year-ago period. Its sales rose to 23.53 billion kronor from 20.24 billion kronor.
