Shares of AXIS Capital Holdings Limited AXS declined about 2% after the company appointed Albert Benchimol as its new Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Benchimol will replace John R. Charman as CEO. Mr. Charman will retire as CEO and President, effective May 3, 2012. Mr. Benchimol currently serves as AXIS Capital's Chief Financial Officer.
Shares of Bunge Ltd BG fell about 1.9% after the company reached an agreement to buy 3 tomato product brands --Etti, Salsaretti, and Puropure--from Hypermarcas SA HYPMY for 180 million Brazilian reais ($100 million). The deal is expected to complete at the end of this month.
Shares of Quality Systems Inc QSII fell about 2.5% after the company announced its plans to buy ViaTrack Systems, a developer and provider of information technologies that enhance electronic data interchange offerings.
Shares of ABB Ltd ABB dropped about 2.6% after the company announced its plans to buy Newave Energy Holding SA for about 170 million Swiss francs ($183 million) in cash. ABB will offer CHF56 per Newave share to buy all of Newave's shares, representing a 22.4% to Newave's closing stock price on December 9.
Shares of Lundin Mining Corp LUNMF fell about 4.2% after the company projected an increase in zinc and copper production for 2013 and 2014. Lundin Mining expects zinc production to rise to 125,000 to 135,000 tonnes in 2013. It projects zinc production to increase to 145,000 to 155,000 tonnes in 2014, versus 109,000 to 125,500 tonnes estimated in 2012. Lundin expects copper production to surge around 25% to 107,000 to 117,000 tonnes in 2013 versus 2012 levels.
