Johnson & Johnson JNJ reported an 89% drop in its fourth-quarter net income. Johnson & Johnson's quarterly earnings declined to $218 million, or $0.08 per share, from $1.94 billion, or $0.70 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Excluding special items, Johnson & Johnson's adjusted earnings came in at $1.13 per share. Its sales rose to $16.26 billion from $15.64 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.09 per share on revenue of $16.28 billion. McDonald's Corp MCD reported an 11% rise in its fourth-quarter net income. McDonald's quarterly earnings climbed to $1.38 billion, or $1.33 per share, from $1.24 billion, or $1.16 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue gained to $6.82 billion from $6.21 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $1.30 per share on revenue of $6.81 billion. Verizon Communications Inc VZ swung to a fourth-quarter loss on Tuesday. Verizon posted a quarterly loss of $212 million, or $0.71 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $4.65 billion, or $0.93 per share. Excluding one-time items, Verizon earned $0.52 per share. Its revenue climbed to $28.44 billion from $26.39 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $0.53 per share on sales of $28.38 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.36 per share on sales of $2.52 billion. DuPont Co DD reported a 0.8% drop in its fourth-quarter net income. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.14 per share. Rayonier Inc RYN posted a drop in its fourth-quarter profit. Coach Inc COH reported a 15% rise in its fiscal second-quarter earnings. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.15 per share on revenue of $1.43 billion. Canadian National Railway Co CNI reported a 17.7% surge in its Q4 profit on Tuesday and lifted its quarterly dividend by 15%. CN's quarterly earnings surged to C$592 million ($588.15 million), or C$1.32 per diluted share, from C$503 million, or C$1.08 per share, in the year-ago period. CN's revenue climbed 12% to C$2.38 billion.
