Nine ETFs Trading Near 52-Week Highs

The following exchange traded funds ended the week in the neighborhood of their 52-week highs. The share price of each is more than 20% higher than at the beginning of the year as well. Barclays Long B Leveraged S&P 500 Total Return ETN BXUB is more than 22% higher than at the beginning of the year, and it end last week just shy of an all-time high. The investment seeks to replicate triple the daily performance of the S&P 500 Total Return Index. That index is a capitalization-weighted index intended to provide an indication of the pattern of stock price movement in the U.S. equities market, covering 75% of total U.S. equities market. Direxion Daily Technology Bull 3X Shares TYH is more than 57% higher since the beginning of the year, and it ended last week about 2% below a recent multiyear high. The investment seeks daily investment results of 300% of the performance of the underlying Russell 1000 Technology Index. Top holdings include Apple AAPL, IBM IBM, Microsoft MSFT and Google GOOG. EGShares Industrials GEMS ETF IGEM is more than 27% higher year to date after pulling back about 2% in the past week. The investment seeks results that correspond to the price and yield performance of the Dow Jones Emerging Markets Industrials Titans 30 Index. The nondiversified fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets in securities of companies that are included in the underlying index. The nondiversified fund normally invests at least 80% of total assets in the securities of the Solactive Brazil Consumer Index and in depositary receipts based on the securities in the index. The underlying index is designed to measure the performance of the consumer sector of the Brazilian economy. Global X FTSE Colombia 20 ETF GXG is up about 21% since the beginning of the year, but less than 1% higher in the past week. The nondiversified fund invests at least 80% of total assets in the securities of the FTSE Colombia 20 index and in depositary receipts based on the securities in the index. The index is free float adjusted, liquidity tested and a market capitalization-weighted index designed to measure broad-based equity market performance in Colombia. iPath Long Extended S&P 500 Total Return ETN SFLA is up more than 24% since the beginning of the year, ending last week at an all-time high. The investment seeks to replicate the leveraged return on the performance of the S&P 500 Total Return index. That index is a capitalization-weighted index intended to provide an indication of the pattern of stock price movement in the U.S. equities market, covering 75% of total U.S. equities market. The nondiversified fund invests in equity securities and derivatives that advisors believe, in combination, should have similar daily return characteristics as three times (3x) the daily return of the underlying index. Top holdings include Apple, Oracle ORCL, Cisco Systems CSCO and Amazon.com AMZN. ProShares Ultra Russell 1000 Growth UKF is about 23% higher since the beginning of the year and trading near a multiyear high. The nondiversified fund invests in equity securities and derivatives that advisors believe, in combination, should have similar daily return characteristics as twice (200%) the daily return of the Russell 1000 Growth Index. Top holdings include Apple, Exxon Mobil XOM, Coca-Cola KO and McDonald's MCD. ProShares Ultra Technology ROM is up more than 35% since the beginning of the year and ended last week about 1% below a multiyear high. The nondiversified fund invests in equity securities and derivatives that advisors believe, in combination, should have similar daily return characteristics as twice (200%) the daily return of the Dow Jones U.S. Technology Index. Top holdings include Apple, Intel INTC and Qualcomm QCOM.
