Invesco's IVZ PowerShares unit, the fourth-largest U.S. ETF issuer, will introduce the PowerShares DWA SmallCap Technical Leaders Portfolio DWAS on Thursday July 19, 2012.
The PowerShares DWA SmallCap Technical Leaders Portfolio will be the fourth PowerShares ETF based on the technical leaders strategy from Dorsey Wright & Associates (DWA). Technical Leaders are companies identified by the DWA selection methodology that possess strong relative strength characteristics compared to their peers and industry benchmarks, according to a statement issued by PowerShares.
DWAS will track the Dorsey Wright SmallCap Technical Leaders Index, which includes approximately 200 companies. The new ETF will be rebalanced on a quarterly basis.
Other PowerShares funds employing the Dorsey Wright methodology include the PowerShares DWA Developed Markets Technical Leaders Portfolio PIZ, the PowerShares DWA Emerging Markets Technical Leaders Portfolio PIE and the PowerShares DWA Technical Leaders Portfolio PDP. PDP is the largest of that trio with $553.7 million in assets under management.
