ETFs That Gained On Wednesday

Despite the weak new-home sales data for May announced yesterday, the ETFs tracking home building and home construction stocks were the best performers in the ETF industry. Other than ITB, the SPDR S&P Homebuilder ETF XHB has also risen. United States Natural Gas Fund UNG gained 0.4% in the last trading session. The price of natural gas was up yesterday, which led the gains in UNG and iPath Dow Jones-UBS Natural Gas Total Return Subindex ETN GAZ. Shares of UNG rallied in early June, ending its flattish movement last month. However, over the previous few weeks, the fund has given signals of settling once again. Another winning ETF is iPath S&P 500 VIX Mid Term Futures ETN VXZ, which rose 0.2% yesterday. News of the sales of new US homes falling by a dramatic 33% in May poured in yesterday, making the volatility index soar. This in turn resulted in the shares of VXZ rising above their 50-day moving average. Read more from Benzinga's Markets.
