Frontier Communications Executive Joins Board of Directors Of The WorkPlace

Frontier Communications FTR is pleased to announce that Jim Oddo, Vice President, Talent Acquisition & Development, was elected a member of the Board of Directors of The WorkPlace on June 20, 2014. Mr. Oddo, a resident of Plantsville, Connecticut, has been based in Frontier's corporate headquarters in Stamford since joining the company in May 2006. The mission of The WorkPlace complements Frontier's focus on hiring military veterans and reservists. Currently, more than 11 percent of Frontier's 100 percent U.S.-based workforce comprises veterans and reservists. The company has been honored as a 2014 “Top 100” Military Friendly Employer and is a proud member and supporter of The Military Spouse Employment Partnership, The 100,000 Jobs Mission, The Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces, Honor and Remember, the Connecticut Patriot Guard Riders and Joining Forces. Mr. Oddo noted, “Finding a good job in a still-struggling economy is not easy, especially if you have been unemployed for a long period of time or are a veteran. Frontier's hiring programs focus on these groups, as does The WorkPlace.” He added, “Job training like that provided through The WorkPlace reassures a hiring company that these employees will make meaningful contributions Day One.” Frontier's commitment to hiring veterans and the long-term unemployed will intensify upon approval of its agreement to acquire AT&T Communications, Inc. (AT&T) wireline business and statewide fiber network in Connecticut and AT&T's U-verse video and satellite TV customers in Connecticut. Frontier is a Fortune 1000, S&P 500 company based in Connecticut since 1946. Joe Carbone, President and CEO of The WorkPlace, stated, “I am delighted to welcome Jim to our Board of Directors. Frontier is clearly committed to our mission and will be a strong partner as we prepare people for careers while strengthening the workforce for employers. Jim's experience, enthusiasm and breadth of contacts will help us succeed, and that is good news for every resident of Connecticut.” Mr. Oddo added, “Like many, I remember Joe's moving appearance in 2012 on CBS' 60 Minutes and his description of the organization's nationally recognized Platform to Employment program. I look forward to working with all members of The WorkPlace to help make changes that improve lives in our home state. The WorkPlace model proves that the right job readiness programming, combined with personal and family support services and financial counseling, can return veterans and the long-term unemployed to the workforce.”
