Las Vegas Fights Back against Alcoholism, Drug Abuse

Investors who are closely following BioCorRx, Inc.’s BICX stocks have a new reason to buy or own the health care stock—the addiction rehabilitation leader has announced a new licensee clinic using the company’s innovative Start Fresh Program will be opening in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The new clinic, named Start Fresh Recovery, is owned and operated by Dr. George Fallieras, according to a company statement. It is located at 501 S. Rancho Drive, #H-50, Las Vegas, NV 89106.

“We are pleased that 2014 has been full of growth for the Start Fresh Program. The opening of yet another new center in a new state is great news for Nevada residents as well as for the BioCorRx revenue stream,” said Kent Emry, CEO of BioCorRx, Inc., in a statement. “Nevada is a hub for tourism that encourages excessive indulgence in vices. This new center will bring much hope for residents and families that are suffering as a result.”

Nevada has a population of 2,790,136 based on 2013 estimates of the United States Census Bureau. Data from the White House suggest that the State has a rate of drug-induced deaths of 20.1 per 100,000 population, higher than the national average of 12.7 per 100,000. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noted the state ranks third for drug-related deaths.

According to a survey done by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in 2008, 9.35 percent of Nevada residents were found to have used illicit drugs in 30 days, a few percentage points higher than the national average of 8.02 percent. The rate makes Nevada one of the top ten states for illicit drug use. Moreover, 4.45 percent of residents admitted to using other drugs other than marijuana within the month, which translates to a few percentage points higher than the national average of 3.58 percent.

Prescription painkiller was one of the most commonly abused drugs in the state, aside from methamphetamine and marijuana. The state ranked first in terms of hydrocodone abuse with residents consuming twice as many painkillers than any other state.

In addition, the state ranked fourth in terms of per capital consumption rate nationwide. 43.3 percent of Nevada residents perceive that alcohol puts people at a great risk in terms of physical harm.

“Bringing the Start Fresh Program to Nevada will positively impact many local families suffering from addiction, while creating a broader revenue stream for BioCorRx, Inc. As addiction treatment options become more effective and accessible, crime rates should decrease making places like Nevada safer for residents and families,” the company said in a statement.

The Start Fresh Program is a two-tiered program that takes a different approach to addiction rehabilitation. The first phase of the program involves an outpatient medical procedure to embed a specially formulated, biodegradable naltrexone implant under the skin and fatty tissue in the lower abdominal area.

The second tier of the program involves a private, one-on-one coaching program to address the specific needs of the individual and to help him or her plan for a life free from substance abuse.
