Friday's After-Hours Movers Led By TECO Energy, SINA & MannKind

SINA Corp SINA was the biggest gainer in the Nasdaq’s Friday’s after-hours trading. After falling 3.97 percent during the day, shares were up more than 3 percent after the bell. The surge did not seem to have been triggered by any particular news.

VeriFone Systems Inc PAY reported earnings and revenue above estimates after the bell on Thursday. However, the stock lost about 5 percent in after-hours trading. On Friday, shares lost another 4.73 percent.

However, after the market closed, VeriFone shares started to rise, up almost 2.5 percent.

The biggest after-hours losers were MannKind Corporation MNKD and Cliffs Natural Resources, Inc. CLV, both down more than 3 percent. MannKind seemed to be moving on a number of tweets reporting an SEC filing. The SEC site showed a S-3ASR filing registering Common Stock Warrants. Cliffs, on the other hand, seemed to be moving for no particular reason; in fact, the decline was a continuation of the 3.94 percent tumble the stock experienced during the regular session.

The biggest gainer in the New York Stock Exchange was TECO Energy, Inc. TE, up more than 27 percent after the company announced it will be acquired by Emera Inc for $10.4 Billion. TECO Energy’s shareholders will receive $27.55 per share in cash. The stock currently trades above $21.00.
