Microsoft MSFT announced Wednesday, that it has signed an agreement to acquire platform provider for mobile app development, Xamarin. Terms Were not disclosed in the Microsoft blog post. Microsoft closed at $51.36 on Wednesday, up $0.18. Chatter of Amazon Bid for Lions Gate The Rumor:
Shares of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. LGF surged higher Wednesday on unconfirmed market chatter of a potential bid from Amazon AMZN. "Sources" say the bid could be in the $28 to $31 range. Victor Anthony of Axiom Capital told Benzinga that while everything seems to be on sale, he would be surprised if Amazon shifts its current focus on in-house production. Benchmark's Dan Kurnos told Benzinga he wouldn't be surprised if Amazon reviewing all options, but said movies tend to be more costly than TV shows. Lions Gate shares fell 1% on Wednesday, to close at $132.40. Louisiana Public Service Commission Rejects $5B Macquarie-Cleco Deal The Rejected Deal:
The Louisiana Public Service Commission on Wednesday, rejected an approximately $5 billion bid by an investor group led by Macquarie Infrastructure MIC to acquire Cleco Corporation CNL. The commission voted 3-2 against the deal, saying it would not be in the best interest of the utility's customers, reports The Advocate. Cleco closed at $47.49 on Wednesday, down 9.54%. Honeywell Building Solutions Business Said to be for Sale The Rumor:
Honeywell International Inc.HON, which has tried, so far unsuccessfully, to put together a merger deal with United Technologies Corp. UTX, reportedly is looking to sell its building solutions business, according to sources as reported by the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. A sale of the unit could be worth as much as $4 billion, the sources said. Goldman Sach is said to have been hired to assist in the sale process. Honeywell has been engaged in discussions with United Technologies Corporation UTX regarding a possible merger, but UTX stated such a deal would face difficult regulatory obstacles and would not happen. Honeywell closed at $103.30 on Wednesday, down $0.34. Terex Asks Zoomlion for Better Offer The Rumor:
Terex Corp TEX has told China's Zoomlion ZLIOY to improve on its $3.3 billion bid, according to sources as reported by Reuters on Wednesday. Terex would need to back out of its merger agreement with Konecranes KNCRF and feels that the $30 per share that Zoomlion has offered is not enough to make that happen, the sources said. The discussions between Terex and Zoomlion are said to be ongoing, though no price has been agreed upon. Terex and Zoomlion declined to comment, Reuters reported. Terex closed at $22.33 on Wednesday, down $0.21.
