Worst Performing Industries For July 7, 2016


The Dow rose 0.06 percent to 17,929.30, while the NASDAQ composite index gained 0.25 percent to 4,871.29. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 0.11 percent to 2,102.13.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Silver: This industry slipped 4.1 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Great Panther Silver Ltd GPL, which fell 17.2 percent. Great Panther Silver reported a deal to sell 12.5 million shares at $1.60 per share.
  • Gold: This industry declined 1.3 percent by 11:00 am with International Tower Hill Mines Ltd THM moving down 12 percent. Tower Hill Mines shares have jumped 221.88 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 2.36 percent in the same period.
  • Office Supplies: This industry fell 1 percent by 11:00 am ET. Ennis, Inc. EBF shares dropped 3.5 percent in today's trading. Ennis’ PEG ratio is 2.61.
  • Telecom Services - Domestic: The industry dropped 0.8 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Windstream Holdings, Inc. WIN, which declined 2.1 percent. Windstream is projected to post Q2 earnings of August 4, 2016.
