Paulo Gonzalez, A Man With A Mission To Help Transform The Life-sciences And Healthcare Industry In The US

The story of Paulo Gonzalez could have ended up in a local pharmacy shop. After completing his studies in pharmaceutical science and as someone who studied human health and diseases extensively, Paulo “always wanted to bring meaningful impact and real change to people's lives through scientific and healthcare innovations with an ultimate goal to build a more self-aware and mindful society with access to modern healthcare facilities”.

In search of new experiences, Paulo relocated to the United Kingdom in 2015, where he was presented with an unpaid internship at an early-stage venture capital investment fund in the heart of London. Like most big cities, having just one income to sustain a liveable environment isn't always achievable — his skillset extended to barista, customer service, and waiter, among others, in order for him to build towards the ultimate goal.

His pursuit to succeed opened doors to Silicon Valley in San Francisco, where he was enrolled in the international programs offered by the University of California, Berkeley.

While working in numerous capacities, Paulo’s knowledge progressed and expanded across a range of science-based research. Through the UC Berkeley SkyDeck, accelerator program, Paulo repurposed his connections at Neuroon, which led him to support and lead the early commercialization of a research device product, the first (smart sleep mask) that leverages deep technology and scientific evidence to alleviate the effects of sleeplessness.

Paulo’s next venture broadened his horizons when he worked on the distribution of a stabilizer meal support medical device. His position at Verily (formerly Google Life Sciences) facilitated increasing the visibility of the Liftware by exposing the device to numerous attendees at Google I/O.

In 2017 Paulo was employed to support the delivery and transmission of a deep learning algorithm. During his role at NGX Bio, Mr. Gonzalez helped democratize access to next-generation DNA sequencing.

Mr. Gonzalez's focus on this career trajectory included being part of a selective group of innovators at the UCSF Entrepreneurship Center. Where he leveraged scientific breakthroughs in the Microbiome, Sequencing and Data analytics and elaborated a solution to help fight type 2 diabetes through technology.

In 2019, Paulo made the plunge into entrepreneurship and co-founded a company called Wellnite. The company was built on the idea of removing the stigma associated with mental health and psychological barriers by providing people with access to healthcare facilities by utilizing their expertise and experience.

As the pandemic progressed, Paulo landed a key role in supporting the American Diabetes Association of the Bay Area in providing accessible mental health to the local diabetes community.

As the co-founder of Wellnite, Paulo continues to support and advance the fields of sleep and mental health. Under his leadership, the company has provided accessibility to treatments and tracking of sleep disorders, anxiety, and depression to many across the nation. With years of experience in the technology and life science fields, Paulo is using all this expertise to lead Wellnite and to attempt to continue innovating in the field of mental health.
