As the once frozen US housing market is slowly beginning to thaw, one global company, GoldenHome, is betting on increasing future demand for home furnishings by opening its first manufacturing facility in the US.
GoldenHome, a customized kitchen cabinet and home furnishings provider from Xiamen, China, has been steadily increasing sales in the US since first entering the market in 2015. GoldenHome designs and manufactures cabinets, closets, vanities, and other home products featuring sleek aesthetics and practical storage functions. To date, most of this manufacturing has taken place in China, but last year the company opened a new production facility in Thailand, and in March it’s opening its first North American manufacturing facility in Dallas.

GoldenHome CEO Sean Zen Pan provided insights on the company’s growth and localization plans in the US market. Though the company operates over 4000 retail stores around the world, Pan sees having stores with ready-to-assemble (RTA) cabinets are not enough for customers that want an increasing amount of unique features and customization.
As a veteran in the home furnishings industry, Pan noticed that European-style cabinets, usually with modern and simple aesthetics, are increasingly sought by American interior designers for both residential and commercial projects. Pan has since built a dedicated team on the ground to work with distributors, wholesalers, and construction projects to bring customized versions of these designs to the US.
Now, with almost 60% of the company’s global sales coming from the US, Pan believes the time is right for developing production facilities in the US that can more quickly deliver customized orders throughout the US. “At present, we primarily operate through RTA distribution, wholesale, and project-based business. With the establishment of our new Dallas factory, we will expand into the retail and custom cabinetry market,” he noted.
Opening in March, 2025, this factory also includes advanced technology to achieve a high degree of automation in all aspects of the production process, what Pan called “intelligent manufacturing”. From the ordering system, to building and quality control, the entire production process at the Dallas facility will require minimal human input, which will significantly increase efficiency and reduce incidents of human error.
Pan notes how this approach “goes beyond just automated production lines. It incorporates a comprehensive intelligent production system that optimizes orders, improves material utilization, enhances production efficiency, and ensures superior product quality.”
Despite the significant automation, the plant will still employ approximately 100 people, helping boost local job growth and strengthen the supply chain, and the location in Dallas was chosen for its strategic position for shipments to the whole country. If successful, GoldenHome looks set to make further inroads in the US cabinet and home furnishings market.
