Kevin O'Leary Says We Need Answers, Not 'Kumbaya' Politics – Takes Aim At Harris For 'Never' Talking To Press

Kevin O'Leary isn't holding back regarding his thoughts on the current state of U.S. politics. On the Full Send Podcast on Sept. 20, he spoke candidly about everything from Kamala Harris's strategy to Trump's recent debate performance.

O'Leary, who's a self-proclaimed policy junkie, doesn't care much about who's in the White House as long as the policies are sound. But Harris's campaign has him scratching his head. "I've never seen a race for the White House where a candidate has never talked to the press," he said, clearly puzzled. "She has a 50/50 chance of winning with absolutely no one knowing what she's going to do." Harris spoke to CNN alongside her running mate Tim Walz in August.

Don't Miss:

O'Leary is particularly concerned about the lack of detail on Harris's policy positions, which is crucial for an investor like him. He's worried about some of her more extreme proposals, like taxing unrealized capital gains. "That would decimate America. It would crush it," he said bluntly. "There'd be no capital formation here anymore. That can't be real – could it?" Then he continued, "But nobody can ask her because she won't take an interview."

"Everybody thinks it's Kumbaya. It's not," O'Leary emphasized on the podcast. "If you're sitting there and you can't afford to feed your family, you're pretty pissed off with inflation. You want to hear some answers – what's going to change? And price gouging policy doesn't work. They tried that in Venezuela." O'Leary's criticism highlights his concern over the Vice President’s lack of concrete economic solutions as Americans grapple with rising costs.

Harris's debate strategy also didn't impress O'Leary. He noted that her main message seemed to be, "I'm not Trump, so let's all hate Trump." According to O'Leary, that might have worked in the debate, but it's not enough to win over voters concerned about real issues like inflation and health care.

As for Trump, O'Leary thinks he missed some opportunities during the debate. "She owns the border, she owns inflation and he didn't attach her to that," he remarked on the podcast, pointing out that Trump let Harris off the hook on several key issues. O'Leary believes Trump should have emphasized that these are problems created during Harris's administration. "You're saying you're going to handle these problems, but we're living this issue with you in office," he said, summarizing the argument he thinks Trump should have made.

O'Leary is already preparing for a potential Harris presidency but is not optimistic about her policies. He pointed out that if she's serious about some of her proposals, like raising the corporate tax rate to 28%, it could lead to businesses fleeing the U.S. for more favorable tax environments. "That would make us the most uncompetitive in the G7," he warned.

For O'Leary, the most critical issue is preserving the American dream, which he describes as the country's most important "export." He passionately defended the idea that the U.S. is the beacon of hope for people worldwide. "The number one export of America is not a product or service. The number one export is the American dream," he said. "That's what every politician should think about in this election – who upholds the American dream?"

In the end, O'Leary is left with more questions than answers. He's frustrated that he can't get any clear sense of Harris's plans because, as he puts it, "she won't talk to anybody." As the election looms, he just wants to know what her policies will look like so he can prepare as an investor. "I'd like to know the policy so I can prepare for what that's going to look like," he said.

Like many Americans, it's clear that O'Leary is feeling the uncertainty of this election. Whether you're a policy junkie like him or just a concerned citizen, one thing's for sure – this race is far from over and the stakes couldn't be higher.
