<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Shift To International Markets?</h3>
By spring 2025, Bank of America forecasts a hawkish Federal Reserve and &#8220;policy panic&#8221; in Europe and Asia to trigger a peak in U.S. market &#8220;exceptionalism.&#8221; 
According to Hartnett a strong U.S. dollar, already near multi-year highs, contributed to U.S. stocks' outperformance but poses risks given that 30% of S&amp;P 500 revenues come from overseas markets.
Hartnett projects that aggressive fiscal easing in China, new European stimulus – boosted by potential German election outcomes – and rate cuts by the European Central Bank will create fertile ground for global equities.
This could lead to significant rotations into international equities and currencies. 
"By Q2, we anticipate lower interest rates, cheaper currencies, and fiscal easing in Europe and China," Hartnett said.
Emerging markets, battered by a strong dollar and trade uncertainty, may finally rebound as the greenback loses steam.
David Hauner, head of global emerging markets fixed income strategy at Bank Of America, remains cautious on emerging markets in the near term but sees buying opportunities as U.S. trade policies become clearer and the dollar reaches a turning point.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2025: Volatility And Opportunity</h3>
Savita Subramanian, Bank of America&#8217;s head of U.S. equity strategy, said potential Trump 2.0 policies could heighten inflation and deficit risks.
&#8220;Trump 2.0 may drive higher uncertainty around inflation and deficit risks.&nbsp;Immigration and tariffs may be inflationary, but corporate tax cuts are disinflationary as benefits get passed onto the consumer,&#8221; Subramanian said.
She highlighted the prospects for a strong GDP upcycle, driven by lighter regulations and increased energy production lowering oil prices.
Despite predictions of volatility return in 2025, Bank of America analysts remain bullish on the S&amp;P 500. 
They indicated an ambitious year-end target of 6,666 for 2025, marking a staggering 10x rally from the market's 2009 lows.
"Volatility will present opportunities to buy the S&amp;P 500 at lower levels in 2025," said Subramanian, adding that the index is likely to close the year higher than current levels.

S&P 500 Poised For Best Year Vs. Global Stocks Since 1997: Bank Of America Warns Of 2005 Rotation

GDS Holdings Limited (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GDS#NASDAQ">GDS</a>) are trading higher Friday amid continued interest sparked by reports that the company is evaluating an initial public offering (IPO) for its<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/GDS/news"> data center assets in China.</a>
What To Know: Sources familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity due to the private nature of the discussions, indicated that GDS is collaborating with advisers to gauge investor interest in the potential IPO, <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-12-24/data-center-operator-gds-is-said-to-consider-ipo-of-china-reit">according to Bloomberg.</a> 
The proposed real estate investment trust (REIT) could generate proceeds of approximately 1 billion yuan, equivalent to about $140 million. However, the deliberations are still in preliminary stages and the possibility remains that no final transaction will occur. The company has not provided any official comment on the matter.
Over the past year, the Chinese government has relaxed rules regarding the eligibility of assets for inclusion in REITs, a move that analysts believe could establish China as a significant player in the global commercial property trust market. Since these regulatory changes, 13 REIT IPOs have been priced in China. Furthermore, the China Securities Regulatory Commission is reportedly working on incorporating REITs into the Hong Kong Stock Connect program, a move designed to increase exposure to offshore investors.
The company also announced a $1.2 billion Series B funding round for its international data centers. Notable participants in this round included Coatue Management, SoftBank Vision Fund and Ken Griffin, CEO of Citadel. This funding underscores GDS's broader strategy to position itself as a major player in the global data center space while leveraging favorable developments in the REIT market domestically.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bankruptcy Block</h2>
Party City Holdco Inc., the one-stop-shop for all things celebration, is calling it a wrap. The company&#8217;s 700 stores are holding going-out-of-business sales. 
This is the second time Party City filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in two years. In 2023, a restructuring process eliminated almost $1 billion in debt — not enough to keep the party going.
Party City also faced some serious buzzkills like inflation and, per a New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/01/25/party-citys-founder-blames-bankruptcy-on-private-equity-firms/">interview</a> with the chain&#8217;s founder, Steve Mandell, shoddy leadership.
Party City is owned by investment firms such as Capital Group, Davidson Kempner and Silver Point Capital.
The Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey-based company filed for Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Over 95% of Party City's 12,000 employees will stay on until <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/20/business/party-city-shut-down/index.html">Feb. 28</a> to help with the big cleanup.
The news of Party City&#8217;s demise came just days after bankrupt retailer Big Lots (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BIGGQ#OTC">BIGGQ</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/12/42624759/big-lots-holds-liquidation-sales-analyst-pegs-competitor-as-major-beneficiary-market-share-capture-opportunity">failed to find a buyer</a>.
The retailer previously announced it was selling its assets to private equity firm Nexus Capital Management back in September. But now the deal is pretty much off the table.
In true clearance-sale spirit, the company is launching its "going out of business" blowout. It's also keeping hope alive by exploring other options. Whether that's cajoling Nexus back to the table or finding a new buyer remains to be seen. 
That&#8217;s not all. <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/asset-sales/24/11/42254293/deal-dispatch-stoli-bankrupt-ally-financial-to-sell-credit-card-unit">Benzinga Deal Dispatch reported</a> last month The Container Store was on the verge of bankruptcy. Recall how it was unable <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/10/41356027/whats-going-on-with-container-store-stock-after-getting-40m-investment-from-beyond">to ink a deal</a> with Beyond Inc. The <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20241222725949/en/The-Container-Store-to-Execute-Comprehensive-Recapitalization-Transaction-with-Lender-Support-to-Best-Position-the-Company-for-Future-Success">filing</a> became official on Sunday, Dec. 22, in a Texas district court.
But unlike Party City and Big Lots, The Container Store is staying in business.
&#8220;Our strategy is sound,&#8221; said The Container Store CEO Satish Malhotra. 
The beloved storage solutions and in-home services provider is tidying up its finances. Up to 90% of the company's term loan lenders have jumped on board with a transaction support agreement. 
The Container Store will have $40 million in fresh funds and $45 million in debt reduction. All this means The Container Store is aiming keep its promises to partners, vendors and stakeholders without a hitch. 
The company expects to exit bankruptcy within the next 30 days. When it re-emerges, it will be a private company.
The Container Store&#8217;s Elfa business in Sweden remains unaffected.

The oncology company — focused on virus-associated cancers — announced the process as part of a strategic review. Viracta voluntarily closed its pivotal Phase 2 NAVAL-1 trial of Nana-val for relapsed/refractory EBV+ lymphomas, citing no new safety concerns. CEO Mark Rothera remains optimistic about Nana-val&#8217;s future approval.

Buyout firm TPG is in talks to acquire Altus Power (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMPS#NYSE">AMPS</a>), a solar energy provider to commercial property owners and residential homes, Reuters reported on Dec. 23. A competing bid could emerge. 
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BABA#NYSE">BABA</a>)&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/12/42680655/alibaba-nears-4b-e-commerce-merger-with-south-koreas-e-mart-report">is close to merging</a>&nbsp;its South Korean operations with&nbsp;E-Mart Inc.&nbsp;in a deal valued at approximately $4 billion. This strategic move aims to bolster their position in South Korea&#8217;s competitive online retail market. The potential joint venture would combine the e-commerce assets of both companies. Discussions are ongoing, Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-12-26/alibaba-is-said-to-near-4-billion-deal-with-korea-s-e-mart">reported</a>&nbsp;on Thursday.

Deal Dispatch: Party City Wraps Up, Big Lots Goes Bust, The Container Store Continues

Siyata Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SYTA#NASDAQ">SYTA</a>) shares are trading higher on Friday, possibly following the company&#8217;s announcement of a 1-for-10 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/12/n42669127/siyata-announces-reverse-stock-split">reverse stock split on Tuesday.</a>
What To Know: The move is aimed at maintaining compliance with Nasdaq&#8217;s $1 minimum bid price requirement. The reverse stock split will be effective on Dec. 27, 2024, with trading on a post-split basis commencing the same day under the ticker symbol &#8220;SYTA.&#8221;
The reverse stock split consolidates every 10 existing shares into one new share. Outstanding stock options, warrants and other convertible securities will also be adjusted to reflect the new ratio. No fractional shares will be issued, with fractions rounded up to the nearest whole number.
Siyata, a global provider of Push-to-Talk over Cellular devices and cellular signal boosters, clarified that the split does not affect the par value or authorized number of shares. The transfer agent, Computershare, will handle the exchange process for registered shareholders. Those holding shares electronically or through brokers will have their positions adjusted automatically.
Despite the stock price jump, the company warned there is no guarantee it will maintain compliance with the minimum bid price requirement after the split.

Siyata Mobile Shares Are On The Rise Friday: What's Going On?

After a surge in betting on prediction markets for outcomes of events like the 2024 U.S. presidential election, the next market that is generating plenty of interest and concern from regulators is the outcome of the murder<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42541669/luigi-mangione-faces-murder-first-degree-life-in-prison-in-ceo-death-a-senseless-act-of-violence"> trial of Luigi Mangione.</a>
What Happened: Mangione <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42655562/luigi-mangione-suspected-ceo-assassin-pleads-not-guilty-in-new-york-court">recently pleaded not guilty</a> to New York state charges that include murder in the first degree of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Recently extradited from Pennsylvania to New York, Mangione also faces federal charges that could lead to a death penalty sentence if he is found guilty.
Mangione&#8217;s story has captured plenty of attention in America as evidence linked the killing of Thompson, who was CEO of the insurance company owned by UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UNH#NYSE">UNH</a>), to Mangione allegedly<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42605759/luigi-mangione-faces-death-penalty-details-show-attack-planned-for-months-the-target-is-insuranceit-checks-every-box"> targeting the health insurance sector</a> that he viewed as putting greed ahead of consumer health.
Ahead of Mangione's extradition and court hearings, people in the U.S. and around the world have been able to bet on the outcomes thanks to the rise of prediction markets.
Kalshi, which is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, took wagers on several items beginning on Nov. 11 and bragged about the numerous markets on social media platform X.
Among the Kalshi markets: whether Mangione would be extradited, whether he would plead guilty, if he would be convicted, if he or a family member had insurance with UnitedHealthcare and whether he acted alone in the alleged murder of Thompson.
Kalshi <a href="https://kalshi.com/markets/kxuhcplea/luigi-guilty-plea">halted </a>the Mangione markets, but they can still be found on the website through a search. The markets are listed as "paused." Kalshi has put the blame for the halt in the hands of regulators, according to a report from <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-12-27/bets-on-ceo-murder-suspect-s-fate-test-rules-on-event-contracts?sref=TBDibEcD">Bloomberg</a>.
The CFTC bans futures trading for war, terrorism and crimes like assassinations, according to the report.
Prediction market Polymarket has multiple <a href="https://polymarket.com/markets?_q=luigi+mangione">markets </a>open connected to the Mangione case, including whether a YouTube channel connected to him is real, if he was a lone actor, if he will fire his lawyer, whether his parents were UnitedHealthcare customers and if he used psychedelics.
Polymarket is not regulated in the United States. On Polymarket, users can deposit funds using USDC (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/">USDC</a>) via the Polygon (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/matic/usd">MATIC</a>) network or can deposit directly from a crypto account with Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>).
BetUS, which is regulated in certain territories, is <a href="https://press.betus.com.pa/245601-betus-offers-odds-on-the-luigi-mangione-case">offering </a>betting odds on several Mangione-related outcomes like whether he will plead guilty before May 31, 2025. The betting odds are set at -350 for No and +225 for Yes. BetUS also said it will offer lines on whether Mangione used psychedelics and if he will fire his lawyer in 2025.

Why It's Important: Mangione's case has led to plenty of support from the public due to hatred for the health insurance industry by some, an item<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/media/24/12/42473433/joe-rogan-on-public-sympathy-for-unitedhealthcare-ceo-murder-suspect-health-insurance-a-dirty-dirty-business"> touched on by</a> popular podcaster Joe Rogan. 
Supporters have shown up outside courtrooms with signs backing the alleged murderer. The mention of Mangione on a recent episode of "Saturday Night Live" led members of the audience to cheer at his name.
Prediction markets have risen in popularity thanks to the 2024 election and are able to offer markets quickly on a variety of topics and viral news stories.
When it comes to murder cases, there will likely be push back from regulators and members of the public who see a moral obligation to avoid profiting from bad actors.
