Back in 1966, when Buffett met with Disney co-founder Walt Disney, the company had its Disneyland theme park open in California but had not yet opened its Disney World in Florida, which is today one of the largest theme parks in the world.

The legendary investor has said over the years there were several reasons for his investment in Disney, including the company's intellectual property.
"Mary Poppins had just come out. Mary Poppins made about $30 million that year, and seven years later you're going to show it to kids the same age. It's like having an oil well where all the oil seeps back in."
Buffett said that Disney had around 220 movies at the time including "Snow White," "Three Little Pigs" and "Fantasia. Despite potential value unlock from intellectual property, Disney wrote down the value of past films to $0.
"There were no residual values placed on the value of any Disney picture up through the 1960s."
Buffett also recalled the low valuation of Disney despite having the Disneyland theme park.
"The Pirates of the Caribbean ride had just been put in and it cost $17 million bucks."
Buffett couldn't believe that the company sold at "only 5x rides" at the time.

Buffett Buys Disney Stock Again: While Buffett sold Disney in 1967, he came back to the media giant years later. Buffett invested in Capital Cities in 1985 to help the media company finance its $3.5 billion acquisition of ABC.
Disney later bought Capital Cities/ABC for $19 billion, a deal that Buffett may have helped facilitate thanks to a meeting between Capital Cities CEO Tom Murphy and Disney CEO Michael Eisner, as recalled in the 1995 Berkshire annual <a href="https://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/1995.html">letter</a>.

The Details: The company was given until Jan. 28 by the Nasdaq to regain compliance with the minimum price requirements. To meet these requirements, the company's shares had to close at $1.00 or more for at least 10 consecutive business days.
SEALSQ shares closed at or above $1.00 from December 11 to December 24. The company was notified of its noncompliance with these rules on August 1.
What Else: Earlier this month, the company <a href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/42563127">announced</a> a registered direct offering priced at $1.90 per share. It planned to sell 13,157,896 ordinary shares at this price, a discount to the trading prices at the time, and generate approximately $25 million in gross proceeds.
SEALSQ intends to use the funds to further the deployment of its post-quantum semiconductor technology and ASIC capabilities in the U.S., along with supporting working capital and general corporate needs.

Thanksgiving marked a pivotal moment for airline stocks this year. Over the six-day travel period, the TSA screened an estimated 18.3 million passengers—a 6% increase from 2023—pushing the JETS ETF up nearly 6% for November. 
"As a pure consumer play, JETS is a way for investors to capitalize on peak holiday travel, which is expected to see records this year," recently said Kent Thune, research analyst at ETF.com. 
The expert attributed the ETF's recent gains to declining fuel costs and strong seasonal demand. Since August, the JETS ETF has outperformed the tech-heavy Invesco QQQ Trust, Series 1 (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) by robust 31 percentage points. 
JETS' portfolio is heavily weighted toward U.S. airlines with 70% stake, including a 10% weight in American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAL#NASDAQ">AAL</a>) and 8.5% in budget carrier Southwest Airlines Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LUV#NYSE">LUV</a>). The ETF also holds smaller positions in Boeing Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>), Expedia Group Inc. Despite facing cost pressures from rising pilot salaries and maintenance expenses, the airlines have thrived thanks to booming demand for premium travel options. Delta recently revealed plans to expand high-end services, projecting premium ticket revenues will surpass main cabin sales—a trend reshaping the industry's profit dynamics.
"Premium revenue trends have outpaced main cabin over the last several years," Catharine O'Brien, an analyst at Goldman Sachs, said.
"Airlines have disaggregated premium demand to serve more segments of premium demand from premium economy seats in the main cabin to lie flat business class, with premium international economy and domestic first class in between,&#8221; she said. 
The analyst indicated that airlines with exposure to premium travel and strategic capacity improvements, including Delta, Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ALK#NYSE">ALK</a>), and United, are expected to outperform next year.
