FedEx Earnings Are Imminent; These Most Accurate Analysts Revise Forecasts Ahead Of Earnings Call

Mesoblast Limited (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MESO#NASDAQ">MESO</a>) stock is trading higher Thursday after the company announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/24/12/42572083/mesoblasts-cell-therapy-treatment-for-graft-versus-host-disease-gets-fda-approval-stock-surges">approved Ryoncil</a>.
The Details: Ryoncil is the first FDA approved therapy for children aged 2 months and older with steroid-refractory acute graft versus host disease (SR-aGvHD).
Each year in the U.S., around 10,000 patients undergo an allogeneic bone marrow transplant, including 1,500 children. About 50% of these patients develop acute graft versus host disease, and nearly half of them do not respond to steroid treatment.
In a Phase 3 study, 70% of children with SR-aGvHD achieved an overall response by day 28 of treatment with Ryoncil. Treatment was not discontinued or interrupted in any patient for any laboratory abnormality, and the full course was completed without interruption in more than 85% of patients.
&#8220;We are very pleased that the FDA has granted approval of RYONCIL and are proud of the company&#8217;s commitment to the GVHD community in bringing this important new treatment to children and families with no other acceptable options,&#8221; said Silviu Itescu, CEO of Mesoblast.
&#8220;We will continue to work closely with FDA to obtain approval of our other late-stage products, including REVASCOR&#xAE; for cardiovascular diseases and rexlemestrocel-L for inflammatory pain indications, as well as expanding the indications for RYONCIL in both children and adults with inflammatory conditions.&#8221;

Amazon reportedly said it doesn&#8217;t expect <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/12/42577506/amazon-shares-rise-as-company-says-operations-remain-unaffected-despite-workers-at-seven-us-facilities-going-on-strike-amid-peak-holiday-shopping">operations to be impacted</a>. 
What To Know: Amazon workers at seven U.S. warehouses went on strike Thursday morning in the heart of the holiday shopping rush, per Reuters. 
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which represents about 10,000 Amazon workers, said it was organizing the &#8220;largest&#8221; strike ever against Amazon. 
"If your package is delayed during the holidays, you can blame Amazon's insatiable greed. We gave Amazon a clear deadline to come to the table and do right by our members. They ignored it," <a href="https://teamster.org/2024/12/teamsters-launch-largest-strike-against-amazon-in-american-history/">said</a> Teamsters general president Sean O'Brien.&nbsp;
Amazon shares were actually higher by about 1.8% at the last check. Reuters reported that Amazon said it doesn&#8217;t expect the strikes to impact operations. The report indicates that unions only represent about 1% of Amazon&#8217;s employee base.
The Teamsters have &#8220;intentionally misled the public&#8221; and &#8220;threatened, intimidated and attempted to coerce&#8221; employees and third-party drivers to join them, an Amazon spokesperson reportedly told Reuters on Thursday.

Amazon employs more than 1.5 million across the world and has said it prefers to maintain direct relationships with employees. The report suggests that Amazon is not likely to bargain with the union as such could make room for further union action. 
Amazon announced in September that it would invest $2.1 billion to raise pay for its delivery service partner program workers in the U.S., upping base wages by approximately 7% to around $22 per hour.

What To Know: Boeing on Thursday said Türkiye&#8217;s leading low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines placed an order for 100 737-10 jets, plus an option to purchase up to 100 additional jets. 
The order will support the expansion and modernization of Pegasus Airlines&#8217; fleet, focused on the largest model in the 737 MAX family. The 737-10 offers a capacity of up to 230 passengers with a range of 5,740 kilometers, alongside improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared to older models.
This deal underscores growing demand for single-aisle aircraft in Europe and Central Asia, a market Boeing expects to expand significantly over the next 20 years. Pegasus Airlines&#8217; purchase of 100 737-10 jets will bring the total orders of the 737 MAX variant to more than 1,200 jets.
