'Labour poised to announce £100m levy on gambling companies' - The Guardian

The cryptocurrency XRP Token (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/xrp/usd">XRP</a>) from Ripple is soaring in price over the last week with a new filing for an XRP exchange-traded fund adding to<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42122141/xrp-price-up-8-what-is-going-on-with-ripple"> optimism for the crypto.</a>
What Happened: Asset manager WisdomTree<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42170669/wisdomtree-files-for-xrp-etf-trust-report"> filed to establish</a> a trust entity as part of a step towards launching a potential XRP ETF.
The move follows other companies like Bitwise that have filed to launch cryptocurrency ETFs.
With Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs already approved, cryptocurrency experts see ETFs based on other top 10 cryptos by market capitalization like Solana, Dogecoin and XRP as the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42011875/solana-ripple-litecoin-etfs-may-be-on-the-table-under-trump-administration-industry-experts-think">next to be approved.</a>
Ripple Labs, the issuer of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/ripple-xrp-price-prediction">XRP</a>, has been involved in several regulatory issues with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) previously, which could impact the approval of the ETFs and has also impacted the price of XRP in the past.

In July 2023, Ripple received a favorable ruling in a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/23/07/33219187/major-victory-for-ripple-xrp-sales-not-classified-as-investment-contracts-judge-rules" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">case dating to 2020.</a>
U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres determined the sale of the XRP token by Ripple is not an offer of "investment contracts." The ruling came after Ripple spent a significant amount of money<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/23/05/32272013/ripple-ceo-reveals-a-staggering-amount-spent-on-legal-battle-with-sec" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> fighting claims that XRP was a security.</a>
Torres said that some assets can serve as an investment contract, including digital tokens. In the case of the XRP token, it is not a security, according to the ruling.
Alongside the ruling, the judge found Ripple's sales of XRP to institutions to be in violation of the Securities Act. This ruling could become a key item to watch for the cryptocurrency sector moving forward.
The case between the SEC and Ripple remains active, with the SEC appealing and having until January to submit additional filings.

XRP would fall to a low of $0.1748 on Dec. 29, 2020, hitting new lows for the year. On that day, an investor could have purchased 5,720.82 XRP with $1,000.
The $1,000 investment would be worth $8,409.61 today, representing a gain of 741%.
The return of the hypothetical investment in XRP has outperformed the broader stock market.
The same $1,000 invested in the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF, which tracks the S&amp;P 500 Index, would be worth $1,594.15 today, representing a gain of 59.4%.
XRP has traded between $0.3911 to $1.62 over the last year, with the yearly high hit in the last week. The 36% weekly gain for XRP is the second largest among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, trailing only Cardano (+39%).
While XRP has seen a sharp rise in the last week, the cryptocurrency remains well off of its all-time high of $3.84, which was set in January 2018.

About four years ago, Musk flagged an &#8220;alarming pattern&#8221; of <a href="http://benzinga.com/quote/tsla">Tesla</a> employees being poached by Rivian. Tesla even claimed that some workers were caught misappropriating Tesla&#8217;s internal technology for its next-gen batteries. 
Rivian reportedly denied all wrongdoing related to the lawsuit and suggested that Tesla was merely attempting to stifle competition in the EV space. 
Rivian previously failed to get the lawsuit thrown out and a trial was scheduled for March. It appears an agreement between the two EV makers could bring the dispute to a close before the end of the year.

Lockheed Martin's Options: A Look at What the Big Money is Thinking

Upexi, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UPXI#NASDAQ">UPXI</a>) shares are trading lower. The company filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for Nevada to investigate those behind the manipulative fractional share round-up scheme during its <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/10/41548075/whats-going-on-with-upexi-shares-friday">reverse stock split.</a>
The Details: Upexi believes that through the discovery process the company will be able to decipher who engaged in the manipulative trading transactions.
The company completed a 12-for-1 reverse stock split in early October. Before the split, it had fewer than 5,000 shareholders. Following the split, five brokerage firms requested 199,059 of the 202,183 total roundup shares, which account for about 19% of Upexi&#8217;s outstanding stock. 
This represents approximately 40 times the number of shareholders the company had before the reverse stock split.
&#8220;The company has taken the first and precedent-setting action in exposing the blatant manipulation around reverse stock splits. Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/shib/usd">SHIB</a>) has gained traction amid rising burn rates, sparking optimism among technical analysts about bullish momentum <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/shiba-inu-price-prediction">for the token.</a>
What Happened: According to Shibburn data, the burn rate for SHIB surged by 486.8% over the past day, with 5.9 million SHIB coins permanently removed from circulation.
 A single transaction alone accounted for around 2 million burned tokens.
Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous lead developer of Shiba Inu, recently <a href="https://x.com/ShytoshiKusama/status/1860503088324387310">noted</a> that while burning 99% of SHIB's supply seemed improbable in the past, it now appears achievable due to increasing collaborations within the Shibarium ecosystem.

Why It Matters: Despite the spike in the burn rate, data from IntoTheBlock shows a 48% decline in large transaction volumes and a 24.6% drop in daily active addresses. 
Transactions exceeding $100,000 fell from 939 to 626 in a single day.
On the other hand, Shibariumscan recorded a rise in daily transactions, increasing from 4.75 million on Nov. 23 to 4.77 million on Nov. 24. 
DefiLlama data highlighted that Shibarium's total value locked (TVL) reached an all-time high of $4.76 million.
Benzinga Technical Analysis shows a relative strength index (RSI) of 39 for SHIB, suggesting the token is currently oversold, which could lead to a price rebound. 
Shiba Inu's 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) has surpassed its 100-day and 200-day SMA, signaling a bullish trend and potential buying opportunities.
