According to the latest Modern Wealth Survey from Charles Schwab, Americans believe you need a net worth of $2.5 million to officially enter "wealthy" territory. That might sound like Monopoly money to some. Still, others in high-cost cities like San Francisco scoff at the number, with Bay Area residents suggesting you need closer to $4.4 million to feel comfortable. And then there are those on Reddit who've weighed in with their takes.

One user on Reddit called the $2.5 million benchmark "shockingly low," declaring that "$10 million is the real starting point." Why It Matters: Google said the expanded collaboration is specifically aimed at users looking for up-to-date information. A lack of real-time information was one of the main complaints from early AI adopters using early-stage AI chatbots.

Shares of companies within the broader technology sector are trading higher amid overall market strength after CPI data was in line with estimates and core CPI rose by less than expected.

Akash Network (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/">AKT</a>) founder Greg Osuri on Wednesday revealed an unexpected driver behind the increasing adoption of decentralized cloud solutions: a looming energy crisis related to the intensive computing demands of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/artificial-intelligence">artificial intelligence</a>.
While Akash Network was initially conceived as a decentralized alternative to traditional cloud providers, Osuri told Benzinga in an interview unforeseen challenges around energy capacity are now pushing its use into new, vital territories.
Osuri explained that the centralized data center model is facing severe limitations when it comes to providing the power required for advanced AI model training.
&#8220;People are not quite pricing in the energy limitations that we have. Just because you have more chips doesn&#8217;t mean you can actually use those chips," he said.
He further elaborated that major markets like the U.S. have trouble securing more than 10 megawatts of capacity, leading to an urgent need for more distributed, and potentially decentralized, solutions.
This energy bottleneck, Greg suggests, will force a shift to more decentralized infrastructure, with Akash being a central part of that change. 
"I think that is going to be such an unexpected reality. People are going to realize in two years. And then I think the decent AI is going to take off."

Greg emphasized the increasing need to tap into individual homes and distributed networks, which the Akash Network is designed to support. 
"How do you go tap into individual homes? Is there a network that can actually let us go there? Yeah, that&#8217;s kind of the trigger, right?" he commented, outlining the decentralized imperative that his system uniquely addresses.
Beyond the energy concerns, Greg also spoke on the cost and sovereignty advantages of his system. 
He highlighted that the platform provides &#8220;10 times cheaper cost when it comes to CPUs&#8221; and that &#8220;Akash gets you H100 for 99 cents, same H100 will cost you $4,&#8221; making the platform four times cheaper for GPUs. 
Also, Greg stated the importance of transparency and availability through the network. "You want resources and you want guarantees that resources are going to be available."
Greg emphasized the open-source nature of Akash as another critical advantage, stating that &#8220;computer is a should be public utility&#8221; and that it &#8220;should not be, no one should tell you how to use it because you should have complete sovereignty.&#8221; 
The platform&#8217;s community-driven approach was also presented as a key competitive edge, fostering rapid innovation and network effects that are unattainable within single company structures.

Former hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson is running for mayor of New York City and he picked up a supporter in the form of Bill Ackman, one of the most recognized voices in th<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/bill-ackman">e world of finance.</a>
What Happened: Tilson, who is an investor and editor at Stansberry Research, announced his run for mayor back in November, but a new video and Ackman&#8217;s backing could bring more attention to his fight against the incumbent mayor, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/eric-adams">Eric Adams, </a>and other candidates.
"Our great city is headed in the wrong direction," Tilson <a href="https://x.com/WhitneyTilson/status/1878814057790378175">said </a>in the video. "It's time to fight for New York's future."
The video shows images and article headlines of higher crime in the city, unsafe subways and residents hit hard with inflation. Tilson says in the video that thriving businesses are shutting down and families are leaving as they can't afford to live there, and the neighborhoods are no longer safe.
Tilson, who raised his family in New York City, expresses his confidence in the city's comeback in the video.
"I believe our best days are still ahead."
Tilson says he will represent "all New Yorkers" as mayor and help bring safety, affordability and prosperity back to the city.
"New York City is the greatest city in the world."
Ackman <a href="https://x.com/BillAckman/status/1878819267115712811">shared </a>the Tilson video and called the former hedge fund manager "the candidate to watch."
"I have known @WhitneyTilson since college. He has made a career giving back," Ackman tweeted.
Ackman said Tilson is a lifelong Democrat who is also "a smart economically rational one."
"He is pro-business, anti-waste and identity politics, and wants to make NYC great again."
Ackman said that people shouldn't want New York City to become San Francisco or Los Angeles and that Tilson can help save the city.

Why It's Important: New York City Mayor Eric Adams was <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/09/41047664/fbi-raids-nyc-mayor-eric-adams-as-sealed-indictment-nears">indicted on federal charges</a> last year and awaits a trial after pleading not guilty. Adams became the first mayor in the city&#8217;s history to be charged with federal crimes while in office.
Tilson is one of several people running in the mayoral election that will be held in November 2025. Adams is currently running for re-election, but his indictment could put another win in jeopardy.
As a former hedge fund manager and investor, Tilson is well-known to many in the finance world, but he may be less familiar with other New Yorkers. Ackman&#8217;s support could help spread his platform to more people.
Tilson calls himself the only "change candidate" in the Democratic primary and also highlights that he is the only person running who isn't a career politician. Tilson also highlights his business background.
The campaign video shows Tilson's famous "60 Minutes" interview where he helped expose issues at Lumber Liquidators, a hardwood flooring company that went bankrupt in 2024.
A recent poll showed strong backing in the mayor race for former New York governor Andrew Cuomo at 32%, as reported by <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/01/13/poll-cuomo-dominates-nyc-mayoral-field-00197761">Politico</a>. Cuomo has not announced his running in the election. Former city comptroller Scott Stringer received 10% of the vote with Adams getting 6%. Tilson was not listed in the poll results.
