The Scott Brothers have a lot at stake. They have a $2.8 billion home goods brand empire but, as TV hosts, they also have the added benefit of not simply relying on selling products to pay the bills. &#8220;We&#8217;ve made money in every kind of market possible,&#8221; Drew said. &#8220;Upmarket, down markets, buyer&#8217;s seller&#8217;s markets, it doesn&#8217;t matter.&#8221;
The brothers feel that extensive renovation projects and house flips will likely take a back seat in 2025 if interest rates do not come down. A trade war will only exacerbate things. Commercial Metals Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CMC#NYSE">CMC</a>) will release earnings results for the first quarter before the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/CMC/earnings">opening bell on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.</a>
Analysts expect the Irving, Texas-based company to report quarterly earnings at 82 cents per share, down from $1.63 per share in the year-ago period. Commercial Metals is expected to report quarterly revenue of $1.88 billion, compared to $2 billion a year ago, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
On Dec. 12, UBS analyst Curt Woodworth downgraded Commercial Metals from Buy to Sell and lowered the price target from $62 to $56.
With the recent buzz around Commercial Metals, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company's dividends too. As of now, Commercial Metals offers an annual dividend yield of 1.43%, which is a quarterly dividend amount of 18 cents per share (72 cents a year).
So, how can investors exploit its dividend yield to pocket a regular $500 monthly?
To earn $500 per month or $6,000 annually from dividends alone, you would need an investment of approximately $420,817 or around 8,333 shares. For a more modest $100 per month or $1,200 per year, you would need $84,184 or around 1,667 shares.
To calculate: Divide the desired annual income ($6,000 or $1,200) by the dividend ($0.72 in this case). So, $6,000 / $0.72 = 8,333 ($500 per month), and $1,200 / $0.72 = 1,667 shares ($100 per month).
Note that dividend yield can change on a rolling basis, as the dividend payment and the stock price both fluctuate over time.
How that works: The dividend yield is computed by dividing the annual dividend payment by the stock&#8217;s current price.
For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and is currently priced at $50, the dividend yield would be 4% ($2/$50). However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield drops to 3.33% ($2/$60). Conversely, if the stock price falls to $40, the dividend yield rises to 5% ($2/$40).
Similarly, changes in the dividend payment can impact the yield. If a company increases its dividend, the yield will also increase, provided the stock price stays the same. Conversely, if the dividend payment decreases, so will the yield.

How To Earn $500 A Month From Commercial Metals Stock Ahead Of Q1 Earnings

Concerns are rising over the safety of smartwatch bands after a new study identified the presence of hazardous chemicals in these popular accessories.
What Happened: A recent study published in the journal Environmental Science &amp; Technology Letters has discovered that smart watch bands may contain harmful substances. These bands, often made from synthetic rubber known as fluoroelastomers, can include perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA), a type of &#8220;forever chemical,&#8221; Salon <a href="https://www.salon.com/2024/12/24/forever-chemicals-could-be-entering-your-body-from-smart-watch-bands-study-finds/">reported</a> on Thursday,
PFHxA is part of a group of industrial compounds called&nbsp;per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS),&nbsp;which are resistant to degradation. These chemicals have been associated with serious health issues, including cancer and infertility. Despite the risks, PFAS are commonly found in various consumer products such as non-stick cookware and water-resistant fabrics.
The study, led by&nbsp;Graham F. Peaslee&nbsp;from&nbsp;the University of Notre Dame,&nbsp;analyzed 22 watch bands from different brands and price ranges. Surprisingly, PFHxA was the most frequently detected compound. Peaslee noted that the public might not&nbsp;recognize fluoroelastomers as a type&nbsp;of PFAS, leading to unintentional exposure.
