According to a report <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/22/politics/elon-musk-employees-emails/index.html">by</a> CNN, Musk&#8217;s message has stirred up controversy and apprehension among federal employees. Newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel advised bureau employees to hold off on responding to the email. He emphasized that the FBI would handle review processes according to its procedures and coordinate responses if further information is required.
"The FBI, through the Office of the Director, is in charge of all of our review processes, and will conduct reviews in accordance with FBI procedures. When and if further information is required, we will coordinate the responses. For now, please pause any responses," Patel said in an email to bureau employees.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) has reportedly withdrawn its most secure cloud storage service, Advanced Data Protection (ADP), from the UK after the British government <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/25/02/43554574/apple-faces-mounting-pressure-from-uk-government-to-grant-spying-access-to-encrypted-data-of-users-worldwide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">demanded secret access to user data</a>.
The decision follows an order under the UK&#8217;s Investigatory Powers Act, which would have required Apple to provide a &#8220;backdoor&#8221; to iPhone backups and cloud data, enabling law enforcement to access information otherwise protected by encryption, The Financial Times reports.
The company stated that it could no longer offer ADP to new UK users, and current users would eventually be forced to disable the feature, the report further noted, citing a statement from Apple.
Since the service was introduced in December 2022, British Apple users had to opt in to benefit from the advanced security.

"I've <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/education/24/10/41234173/how-mark-cuban-turned-broadcast-com-into-5-7b-sale-we-were-the-youtube-of-our-day">been in technology for a long time</a>, and you can always look at a new tech, PCs, networks, the internet, streaming, whatever, and say, ‘OK, in five years, this is what's going to happen, right,' and have a good sense. With AI, you can't do that," <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/startups/24/08/40431659/mark-cuban-says-everybodys-chasing-power-and-nothing-will-give-you-more-power-than-military-and-ai">he explained</a>.
Despite the uncertainty, Cuban is certain that the U.S. is the leader in AI development and must hold onto that advantage. Countries are now competing not just for better technology but for control over algorithms, which shape public opinion and decision-making. "If you want to influence somebody, just manipulate the algorithm, and you'll get their attention," he said.
