A trader&#8217;s actions planted doubts on Tuesday after they bought over $5 million worth of Official Trump (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/">TRUMP</a>) memecoin at the bottom just minutes after President Donald Trump said he knows little about it.
What Happened: In an X post, capital markets commentator The Kobeissi Letter drew attention to suspicious dealings shortly after Trump made his first public statement on his official coin.
The post noted that TRUMP fell over 33% three minutes after Trump&#8217;s remarks. At the exact bottom, a wallet scooped $5.09 million of the coin, which The Kobeissi Letter deemed as &#8220;one of the biggest single purchases&#8221; since the coin&#8217;s launch.
The subsequent purchase led to a quick recovery in the coin&#8217;s value, netting the trader $2.4 million in profits in just 14 minutes later.

MicroStrategy Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSTR#NASDAQ">MSTR</a>) shareholders on Tuesday approved a proposal to increase the company&#8217;s authorized Class A shares by 30 times to support future Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) acquisitions.
What happened: About 56% of votes were cast in favor of increasing the shares from the current 330 million to 10.33 billion, Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-01-21/microstrategy-share-increase-approved-to-fund-bitcoin-purchases">reported</a>, citing the meeting's recording.&nbsp;
Investors also approved the proposal to increase the number of authorized shares of preferred stock from 5 million to 1.005 billion, reflecting a 201x increase. <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/how-to-buy-preferred-stock#:~:text=Preferred%20stocks%20usually%20offer%20fixed%20dividends%20and%20rank%20higher%20than,health%20of%20the%20issuing%20company.">Preferred stocks</a> usually offer fixed dividends and rank higher than common stocks during asset liquidation.
Notably, the proposals were <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/12/42665877/microstrategy-to-hold-special-shareholder-vote-to-support-the-42-billion-bitcoin-acquisition-strategy">put forward</a> by the firm&#8217;s co-founder and executive chairman, Michael Saylor, who controls 47% of the voting power.

Why It Matters: These proposals were intended to support MicroStarategy's ambitious <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/10/41646462/michael-saylor-says-bitcoin-remedy-to-fix-unhealthy-balance-sheets-as-microstrategy-unveil">21/21 plan</a>, a capital-raising operation that seeks to generate $21 billion in equity financing and $21 billion in fixed-income securities to fund Bitcoin purchases.
As of this writing, the firm has $5.42 billion remaining under its equity offerings plan.
MicroStrategy has front-run corporate Bitcoin adoption, with the company&#8217;s stockpile growing to 461,000 BTC, worth $48.67 billion, after a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/43104549/microstrategy-buys-11000-bitcoin-total-holdings-reach-461000-btc">fresh purchase</a> of 11,000 BTC on Tuesday. The firm was sitting on unrealized Bitcoin gains of nearly 66%, <a href="https://bitcointreasuries.net/">according </a>to BitcoinTresuries.net.
Price Action: At the time of writing, Bitcoin was exchanging hands at $105,605.91, up 4.04% in the last 24 hours, according to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">data from Benzinga Pro</a>.
Shares of MicroStrategy closed 1.87% lower at $389.10 during Tuesday's regular trading session.
The stock has a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/MSTR/analyst-ratings">consensus price target</a> of $449.5 based on 12 analyst ratings, with an average price target of $546.67 from Bernstein, TD Cowen, and Barclays.

Michael Saylor's Proposal To Increase MicroStratagy's Share Count Approved By Shareholders — More Bitcoin Purchases On The Cards?

While <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">U.S. ETFs collectively manage over $10 trillion</a> in assets, only about $440 billion is allocated to small- and mid-cap holdings, according to Todd Sohn, ETF strategist at Strategas, as reported by Reuters.



"This is still a space within the ETF area that is full of opportunities," Sohn says. Tapping into this potential, Capital Group introduced the Capital Group U.S. Small and Mid Cap ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CGMM#NYSE">CGMM</a>) on Jan. 16.



This marks Capital Group's first foray into small- and mid-cap active ETFs, addressing what the firm identifies as strong demand among financial advisors for active exposure to this market segment. The actively managed ETF seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing in small- and mid-cap American companies with market capitalizations of up to $10 billion. The fund's expense ratio is 0.51%. 



A look into Capital Group's website shows us that the new ETF will pinpoint "acorns to oaks"—companies with the potential for long-term compounding.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Expanding ETF Model Portfolios</h3>



In addition to launching CGMM, Capital Group plans to integrate the new ETF into a model portfolio offering later in the first quarter. These models, which have seen success with the firm's mutual funds, are being extended to include ETFs in response to increasing investor demand. "We believe ETF models will be the next driver of exponential growth across the industry," Davis noted.



Capital Group's ETF lineup now includes 22 active funds with approximately $50 billion in assets under management. Among these, the Capital Group Dividend Value ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CGDV#NYSE">CGDV</a>) is a standout, boasting over $12 billion in assets.
