What Happened: Lightbridge on Wednesday said it successfully performed a co-extrusion demonstration of a coupon sample consisting of an alloy of depleted uranium and zirconium with an outer cladding made of nuclear-grade zirconium alloy material at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).
The co-extrusion process involved pressing a metallic alloy billet encased in zirconium alloy cladding through a die to produce a cylindrical rod approximately 8 feet long. The uranium-zirconium alloy used in the demonstration rodlet is the same composition that Lightbridge plans to use for its future commercial Lightbridge Fuel product.
The company said the demonstration represents a key fabrication milestone in its strategic partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy&#8217;s (DOE) operating contractor Battelle Energy Alliance.
&#8220;This successful co-extrusion demonstration is a testament to the continuous progress we have made over the past year on demonstration of our fuel fabrication process in our collaborative efforts with INL,&#8221; said Scott Holcombe, vice president of engineering at Lightbridge.

The Wall Street Journal estimates that the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom lodge on the Koch property is 16,631 square feet and includes 30-foot ceilings along with sweeping views of Aspen's famous ski valley. Other luxury trappings include outdoor hot tubs with mountain views, a world-class fitness center, and a private network of roads and hiking trails that connect all the buildings on the estate.&nbsp;
Aspen's status as one of the world's premier ski destinations stretches back to the 1980s, and it has put a massive price premium on area real estate values. Even by that standard, the Koch property's value may never be higher and that is motivating his decision to sell. Speaking to The Journal, Koch said, "We looked at the strong housing market and figured it was time to let someone else enjoy it," when explaining why he re-listed the property.

According to the Post and The Journal, Koch attempted to sell the property for $100 million in 2015. He would eventually lower the price to $80 million and even offered to parcel it out. He reportedly sold 31 acres for $14.5 million but retained the main parcel and many of the buildings. TE Connectivity plc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TEL#NYSE">TEL</a>) shares are trading lower on Wednesday after the company agreed to acquire Richards Manufacturing Co. from Oaktree Capital Management and the Bier family in an all-cash <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/02/n43652224/te-connectivity-to-acquire-richards-manufacturing-to-expand-position-in-fast-growing-energy-market" rel="noreferrer noopener">transaction of around&nbsp;$2.3 billion</a>.
The deal enhances TE&#8217;s position in North America&#8217;s electrical utility market by integrating complementary products and leveraging Richards&#8217; expertise to capitalize on growth in underground electrical networks.
The company expects the acquisition to generate mid-teens returns on invested capital, driven by tax, revenue, and cost synergies.
The transaction is expected to close in TE Connectivity&#8217;s fiscal third-quarter ending June 2025.
The company plans to integrate business into its Industrial Solutions segment, contributing approximately $400 million in annual sales with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">EBITDA margins in the mid-30% range</a>.
The deal is expected to boost TE&#8217;s sales growth and operating margins, with an anticipated 10 cents accretion to adjusted EPS in the first full year, excluding acquisition-related expenses.
TE Connectivity CEO&nbsp;Terrence Curtin said, &#8220;The acquisition of Richards Manufacturing aligns with our strategy and positions us to further capitalize on an accelerating grid replacement and upgrade cycle in&nbsp;North America, driven by aging infrastructure, the increased hardening of the network and the upgrades that are required to support the increase in energy demand.&#8221;
The company plans to finance the transaction through cash and additional debt. As of December&nbsp;27, TE&#8217;s cash and cash equivalents stood at $1.254 billion.
Last month, TE Connectivity reported first-quarter 2025 adjusted EPS of $1.95, surpassing the $1.89 estimate, while sales of $3.84 billion fell short <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/n43122031/te-connectivity-announces-first-quarter-results-for-fiscal-year-2025" rel="noreferrer noopener">of the $3.91 billion estimate</a>.
