In addition to the&nbsp;$190 million&nbsp;cash payment in 2024 and an additional&nbsp;$10 million&nbsp;in 2025, Novavax expects the sale of the facility to result in annual operating cost reductions of approximately&nbsp;$80 million.
&#8220;The decision to sell the&nbsp;Czech Republic&nbsp;manufacturing facility aligns with our previously announced commitment to evolve Novavax into a more lean and agile organization focused on partnering our pipeline assets and technology platform,&#8221; said&nbsp;John C. Last month, Novavax lowered its 2024 revenue guidance to $650 million—$700 million, compared to prior guidance of $700 million—$800 million and a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/41904976/novavax-stock-falls-on-lower-2024-revenue-forecast-q3-earnings-beat-consensus-estimates" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus of $761.5 million</a>.

Known for his regulatory pragmatism and expertise in financial markets, Atkins' nomination signals a potentially transformative shift in the agency's approach to digital assets.

Trump Nominates Paul Atkins As SEC Chair, Emphasizing Digital Assets As Key To 'Making America Greater'

The Benzinga Future of Digital Assets conference recently provided industry leaders with a platform to discuss Bitcoin's evolving role in investment portfolios. A panel moderated by angel investor Erik LaPaglia explored how Bitcoin is transitioning from a speculative asset to a mainstay in institutional and retail investment strategies.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Increasing Allocations to Bitcoin</h1>
Zach Pandl, managing director of research at Grayscale Investments, highlighted the gradual adoption of Bitcoin in portfolios. 
"Bitcoin used to be 0%&#8230; now it's starting to crack into kind of 1%-2% for people," he said, referencing its growing inclusion among investors. Pandl further predicted that allocations could eventually normalize at around 5%, driven by macroeconomic factors such as inflation and government debt.
Paul Cappelli, head of ETF strategies at Galaxy Digital, added that Bitcoin has become a reliable tool for portfolio diversification.
 "It's got a pretty long track record as a diversifier now in a portfolio," he noted, citing its use as an inflation hedge and appeal to high-net-worth and institutional clients. Some investors, Cappelli explained, have even allocated as much as 10% of their portfolios to Bitcoin, reflecting its increasing legitimacy in financial markets.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Dominance in the Digital Asset Market</h1>
The discussion also addressed Bitcoin's current dominance in the crypto space. Robert Mitchnick, head of digital assets at BlackRock, emphasized the asset's unique standing compared to other cryptocurrencies. 
"Bitcoin&#8230; has just a total step-change different level of resonance with a lot of our investor base," he said, noting that its status as a "digital gold" differentiates it from other crypto assets.
Mitchnick pointed out that while other projects within the cryptocurrency market hold promise, Bitcoin remains in its own category. This distinction, he argued, is partly why Bitcoin has maintained its dominance and continues to attract institutional capital.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">The Impact of Disruptive Events</h1>
The panelists also discussed how geopolitical instability and fiscal crises could drive further adoption of Bitcoin. Mitchnick outlined scenarios where Bitcoin could outperform traditional markets during economic disruption. 
&#8220;Events like geopolitical destabilization or another surge in inflation could shift the conversation from ‘is this too risky?' to ‘is it risky not to own any?'" he explained.
Pandl echoed this sentiment, stating Bitcoin's appeal lies in its ability to hedge against traditional market risks. &#8220;People just need to look around at the world and see what is going on,&#8221; he said, referencing rising debt levels and fiscal challenges as key factors driving interest in Bitcoin.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Looking Ahead</h1>
As Bitcoin continues its journey toward mainstream adoption, its role in diversified portfolios is becoming increasingly prominent. The panelists agreed that education, regulatory clarity and focusing on its long-term value proposition will be critical in sustaining this momentum.
Cappelli summarized the sentiment, saying, "We're living now in a world where Bitcoin is becoming part of every portfolio. There's an excellent case for why you should be holding it."

At a press conference on Tuesday, Adams had a pointed message for his skeptics: "Remember y'all laughed at me when I first got my Bitcoin? Who's laughing now?"
Adams, who took his first three paychecks in Bitcoin and Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) upon assuming office in January 2022, faced ridicule at the time.

The mayor declined to reveal his current crypto holdings but, according to his most recent financial disclosure statement, his Bitcoin holdings by the end of 2023 ranged between $5,000 and $54,999. 
"Go look at my Bitcoin now," Adams told reporters. "You all mock me. ‘You're taking your first three paychecks in Bitcoin. What's wrong with you?' Now you wish you would have done it."
Adams&#8217; enthusiasm for crypto isn't new. 
His decision to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/21/11/23910495/nyc-mayor-doubles-down-miami-mayors-commitment-three-months-of-salary-in-bitcoin">accept his salary in digital assets</a> was part of his broader push to position New York City as a global hub for cryptocurrency innovation.
However, Adams' tenure hasn't been without controversy. He is currently facing criminal charges for bribery and campaign finance violations, accusations he has denied.
Adams is not alone among public officials who have embraced Bitcoin.

The New York City shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson Wednesday is believed to be a preplanned and premeditated, police said Wednesday hours after <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/health-care/24/12/42316904/unitedhealthcare-ceo-brian-thompson-fatally-shot-outside-nyc-hotel">the attack.</a>
What Happened: Thompson, who was CEO of UnitedHealth Group Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UNH#NYSE">UNH</a>)&#8217;s insurance division UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot while outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel in Manhattan, New York, where the company was hosting its investor day.
Police said the shooting appears to be preplanned and premeditated with the shooter, who is still at large, having known which door Thompson was going to enter and waiting for him there.
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch called Wednesday's shooting a "brazen targeted attack," as <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/12/04/nyregion/brian-thompson-uhc-ceo-shot">reported </a>by the New York Times.
New York Chief of Police Jeffrey Maddrey and Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny also spoke at a Tuesday press conference. 
The shooter fled the scene on a bike, police said. Surveillance video shows the shooter leaving of the scene. There is no audio on the surveillance footage. Police are offering a reward up to $10,000 for more information on the case.
Police said they are trying to identify a witness who was near Thompson when the shooting occurred. 
Thomspon was getting to the conference early to help set up and he did not travel with security detail, according to police, who added that early findings show he did not typically travel with security. 
A cell phone that could belong to the shooter was located in a nearby alley and is undergoing forensics testing. Police also said they have a search warrant and were looking through Thompson's hotel room to try and find more clues. 
Kenny said it was too early to answer whether a silencer was used on the weapon in response to a press question Wednesday. The chief of detectives said it's too early to know if the shooter was a professional but surveillance shows he was able to fix a firing malfunction quickly, suggesting proficiencytwith firearms.
Police are interviewing Thompson's coworkers to see if any threats were recently been made against him and also checking social media for more clues.
Thompson, who joined UnitedHealth Group in 2004 and held various positions, arrived in New York Monday ahead of the conference, according to police.

Statements Pour In: UnitedHealth Group shared a statement on Wednesday's killing shortly before noon ET.
"We are deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of our dear friend and colleague Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. Brian was a highly respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him. We are working closely with the New York Police Department and ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Our hearts go out to Brian's family and all who were close to him," the <a href="https://www.unitedhealthgroup.com/newsroom/2024/2024-12-4-uhg-statement-on-events.html">statement </a>reads.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul called Wednesday's events "horrific" and said state police will help if they are needed for the investigation.
"Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of Mr. Thompson, and we are committed to ensuring the perpetrator is brought to justice," Hochul said, as reported by the New York Times.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams told reporters the shooting was targeted and "does not appear to be a random act of violence.
U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, where UnitedHealth Group is headquartered, said Wednesday's event was "a horrifying and shocking act of violence."
What's Next: Police officials told the public that the event was preplanned and premeditated and encouraged New Yorkers to go on with their daily routines while also reporting any suspicious activity and taking a look at the surveillance footage to help identify the shooter.
Wednesday's shooting occurred the same day as the lighting of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, located several blocks away from the crime scene. 
The tree lighting, which is set to air as a two-hour special beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CMCSA#NASDAQ">CMCSA</a>)-owned NBC and Peacock, will go on as planned.
"We will have a massive police presence," Maddrey said.
Additional police will be located in subways to help ease the concern of New Yorkers traveling to the tree lighting ceremony, Maddrey added.
New York police are using drones, K9 units and aviation with no expenses spared to "keep New Yorkers safe," Maddrey said.

RICHLAND PARISH, La., Dec. 4, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Meta and&nbsp;<a href="https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4317299-1&amp;h=2072622973&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.opportunitylouisiana.gov%2F&amp;a=Louisiana+Economic+Development">Louisiana Economic Development</a> (LED) announced a $10 billion artificial intelligence data center in northeast Louisiana, a transformational investment that cements the state's status as a major innovation hub and leader in the global digital revolution. The 4 million square foot data center, to be located in Richland Parish, will be Meta's largest in the world. Construction on the facility is expected to continue through 2030.
Meta projects the data center will support at least 500 direct new jobs in Richland Parish. LED estimates the project will result in the creation of more than 1,000 indirect jobs, for a total of more than 1,500 potential new jobs in the Northeast Region. The company estimates 5,000 construction workers at peak of construction on a 2,250-acre site.
