The Nvidia deal coincided with reports indicating the Biden administration eying <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/42897081/nvidia-and-ai-chip-stocks-brace-for-impact-as-biden-administration-considers-new-china-export-ban-report" rel="noreferrer noopener">additional semiconductor sanctions</a> on allies and non-allies before passing the torch to the Trump administration on January 20.
Washington could impose three tiers of chip curbs, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
ASML Holding (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>) of the Netherlands emerged as a key AI beneficiary, backed by its lithography portfolio and scalable EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) technology, which helped contract chipmakers like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSM#NYSE">TSM</a>) manufacture high-performance chips for Nvidia&#8217;s AI processors. 
The semiconductor equipment maker projected <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/24/11/41978712/asml-projects-revenue-surge-to-63-billion-by-2030-eyes-ai-and-chip-market-boom" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">annual sales of</a> $46.51 billion – $63.43 billion (44 billion euros – 60 billion euros) by 2030 and a gross margin target of 56%-60%. It expects global sales to surpass $1 trillion by 2030, backed by the integration of AI across industries.

The VARIPULSE Platform is designed to enable AFib treatment with a single device that combines PFA therapy and advanced mapping with the CARTO 3 System, a 3D electroanatomical cardiac mapping system.
"On January 5, out of an abundance of caution, Johnson &amp; Johnson MedTech temporarily paused the U.S. External Evaluation and all U.S. Varipulse cases while we investigate the root cause of four reported neurovascular events in the U.S. External Evaluation," the company <a target="_blank" href="https://www.jnj.com/media-center/press-releases/johnson-johnson-statement-on-varipulse-u-s-external-evaluation" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a>.
Neurovascular events are&nbsp;a range of conditions that affect the blood vessels and blood supply to the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves.
Since the beginning of the external evaluation, the company has reported more than 130 cases of Varipulse in the U.S., spread across 14 sites and 40 operators. Globally, it has reported more than 3,000 commercial cases with Varipulse.
"We are working diligently to complete the investigation according to our medical safety processes and resume the U.S. External Evaluation," the company said in its statement. "We expect to have more information to communicate within the coming days."
Last month, the FDA issued a complete response letter (CRL) to&nbsp;Johnson &amp; Johnson's Biologics License Application for a fixed combination of amivantamab and recombinant human hyaluronidase for subcutaneous administration in patients with non-small cell lung cancer with epidermal growth <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/24/12/42535810/fda-rejects-johnson-johnsons-injectable-version-of-approved-drug-for-lung-cancer" rel="noreferrer noopener">factor receptor mutations</a>.
The CRL is&nbsp;related&nbsp;to observations as part of a standard pre-approval inspection at a manufacturing facility.

Supermicro said it is now shipping AI server based on the Intel Gaudi 3 accelerator hosted by Intel Xeon 6 processors.

How that works: The dividend yield is computed by dividing the annual dividend payment by the stock&#8217;s current price.
For example, if a stock pays an annual dividend of $2 and is currently priced at $50, the dividend yield would be 4% ($2/$50). However, if the stock price increases to $60, the dividend yield drops to 3.33% ($2/$60). Conversely, if the stock price falls to $40, the dividend yield rises to 5% ($2/$40).
Similarly, changes in the dividend payment can impact the yield. If a company increases its dividend, the yield will also increase, provided the stock price stays the same. Conversely, if the dividend payment decreases, so will the yield.

In the Vanguard Utilities ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VPU#NYSE">VPU</a>), Sempra (4.3% of assets), PG&amp;E (3.2% of assets) and Edison International (2.5%) are among the largest holdings. 
Fire Cause: One of the key question on the minds of California residents and investors will be who or what caused the fire. Right now, this remains a mystery.
As the New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/08/us/what-caused-california-fires.html">reports</a>, scrutiny of power lines will likely come after the fires, as utility equipment has led to some of the largest California wildfires in the past, including the 2018 Camp Fire that left 85 people dead.
In 2024, four wildfire incidents were caused by utility equipment, including two by Edison International-owned Southern California Edison, according to the report.
Pacific Gas &amp; Electric, which may have limited exposure to this week&#8217;s infernos, is a lesson in the liability risk that California utilities face.
The utility company declared bankruptcy in 2019 related to damages and claims from wildfires. This included a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/19/12/14953787/pg-e-trades-higher-on-13-5b-wildfires-settlement"> $13.5 billion settlement </a>for its alleged role in the fires. The company emerged from bankruptcy in 2020.
In 2024, Pacific Gas &amp; Electric paid $45 million in penalties related to the Dixie Fire in 2021, which state regulators found was linked to the company's power lines, as <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/26/us/pacific-gas-electric-settlement-dixie-fire-california/index.html">reported </a>by CNN.
California state law AB-1054, passed in 2019, established a Wildfire Fund of up to $21 billion to provide liquidity for fire events in the state and limits the liability of utility companies.

5 Dead, Nearly 180,000 Evacuated In Los Angeles Wildfires: California Utilities Face Scrutiny

On Wednesday, Catalyst Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CPRX#NASDAQ">CPRX</a>) entered into a settlement agreement with Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TEVA#NYSE">TEVA</a>).
This Agreement resolves the patent litigation brought by Catalyst and its licensor SERB S.A in response to Teva&#8217;s Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) seeking approval to market a generic version of Firdapse (amifampridine) 10 mg tablets before the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/g42881700/catalyst-pharmaceuticals-announces-settlement-of-firdapse-amifampridine-patent-litigation-with-tev" rel="noreferrer noopener">expiration of the applicable patents</a>.
If approved by the FDA, Teva will not market its generic version of Firdapse in the United States before February 25, 2035, unless certain limited circumstances customarily included in these types of agreements occur.
The parties will terminate all ongoing patent litigation between Catalyst/SERB and Teva regarding Firdapse patents pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
The ongoing Firdapse patent litigation involves two defendants: Hetero, which is being challenged on all of Firdapse&#8217;s Orange Book-listed patents, and Lupin, which is facing a case focused on Catalyst&#8217;s Firdapse patent that expires in 2037.
In the Notice Letter in January 2023, Teva stated that it intended to market a generic version of Firdapse before the expiration of multiple of Catalyst&#8217;s patents listed in the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/01/30523209/why-catalyst-pharmaceuticals-shares-are-moving" rel="noreferrer noopener">FDA Orange Book</a>.
In May, the FDA approved its supplemental New Drug Application, increasing the indicated maximum daily dose of Firdapse&#8217;s (amifampridine) for adults and pediatric patients weighing more than 45 kg from 80 mg to 100 mg for Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS).
LEMS is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by muscle weakness and fatigue. Firdapse is a potassium channel blocker indicated for LEMS in adults and pediatric patients six years of age and older and works by increasing the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, at the neuromuscular junction, which helps improve muscle <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/05/g39094213/catalyst-pharmaceuticals-receives-u-s-fda-approval-for-increased-maximum-daily-dose-for-firdapse" rel="noreferrer noopener">function in people with LEMS</a>.
In the third quarter of 2024, Firdapse revenues increased 19.7% year over year to $79.3&nbsp;million. The company expects full-year 2024 net product revenue of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/g41787062/catalyst-pharmaceuticals-reports-strong-third-quarter-2024-financial-results-and-provides-corporat" rel="noreferrer noopener">$300 million—$310 million</a>.
Price Action: CPRX stock closed at $19.53 on Wednesday.

Enphase Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ENPH#NASDAQ">ENPH</a>) disclosed that it is expanding in Latin America through the<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/g42895008/enphase-energy-expands-in-latin-america-with-launch-of-iq8-microinverters-in-colombia-panama-and-c" rel="noreferrer noopener"> launch of its IQ8P Microinverters</a>.
IQ8P Microinverters offers 480 W peak output for residential and commercial solar installations in Colombia, Panama, and Costa Rica.
Enphase is partnering with installers and distributors across Latin America, with recent IQ8 Microinverter launches in the Caribbean and ongoing operations in Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
The company&#8217;s IQ8 Microinverters optimize energy production by handling continuous DC currents of up to 14 amperes, enabling higher-powered solar modules to capture more energy.
This week, Enphase Energy disclosed that IQ8 Microinverters had been selected for a 2.2 MW solar project at the Belgoprocess <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/g42841752/enphase-energy-iq8-microinverters-selected-for-belgium-radioactive-waste-facility" rel="noreferrer noopener">radioactive waste facility in Dessel, Belgium</a>.
The project, which comprises 4,000 IQ8HC Microinverters, will span four rooftops of the radioactive waste facility. In the coming years, capacity is planned to expand from 2.2 MW to 6 to 8 MW.
Once completed in 2026, the project is expected to be the largest Enphase project worldwide.
