Why Taiwan Semiconductor Shares Are Trading Higher By Around 5%; Here Are 20 Stocks Moving Premarket

Cathie Wood, the founder of asset management firm Ark Invest, said Wednesday that the firm's conviction in the $1.5 million bull case for Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) in 2030 has strengthened thanks to several bullish developments last year.

Wood also believed that the victory of a cryptocurrency-friendly candidate would have far-reaching implications for political support for the asset class.
&#8220;I think in the next administration we will probably see more bipartisanship.&#8221;
When asked what interesting narratives cryptocurrency investors should look out for in 2025, Wood said she was &#8220;intrigued&#8221; by the growing intersection of technologies, particularly <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/06/39151600/ai-and-bitcoin-mining-what-core-scientifics-unexpected-partnership-with-nvidia-backed-ai-f">between Bitcoin and artificial intelligence</a>.
&#8220;We think there are convergences among technologies that are going to cause explosive growth opportunities,&#8221; Wood stated.

Shares of Adani group companies rose and added over $5.9 billion to investor wealth on Thursday, following the shutdown of the short-seller Hindenburg Research, as announced by its founder Nathan Anderson in a farewell <a href="https://hindenburgresearch.com/gratitude/">note</a> on Wednesday.
What Happened: Around ten listed companies owned by the Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, rose intraday on the Indian exchanges, led by the media company, New Delhi Television Ltd.
While NDTV rose over 13%, Indian cement companies like Ambuja Cements Ltd., and Sanghi Industries Ltd. rose 3.6% and 3.25%, respectively. Adani Green Energy Ltd. was up by 3.47%, whereas Adani Ports &amp; SEZ Ltd. advanced by 2.44%.
The ten listed stocks under the conglomerate experienced significant growth as of Thursday morning, adding $5.9 billion or Rs 51,100.62 crore to investor wealth. This surge resulted in a combined market capitalization of $14.791 billion or Rs 12.79 lakh crore for these stocks, as reported by NDTV Profit.

Dow Jumps 700 Points Following Inflation Data: Greed Index Remains In 'Fear' Zone

Sean Duffy, President-elect Donald Trump&#8216;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/11/42053292/trump-picks-sean-duffy-as-next-transportation-secretary-says-he-will-usher-in-the-golden-age-of-travel">nominee</a> to lead the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), reportedly wants electric vehicle owners to pay for using roads. 
What Happened: Duffy revealed his opinion at his confirmation hearing on Wednesday before the Senate Committee, Reuters reported. Duffy also acknowledged that implementing the move would be &#8220;challenging.&#8221;
&#8220;They should pay for use of our roads,&#8221; Duffy said. &#8220;How to do that, I think, is a little more challenging.&#8221;
Revenue for federally funded road repairs is collected through taxes on diesel and gasoline, Reuters noted. As EV owners do not pay taxes for either of these two commodities, they do not contribute to the revenue. 
However, in certain states like Georgia and Illinois, EV drivers pay fees to cover the costs of road repair. 
Duffy on Wednesday also pledged to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/01/43020202/trumps-dot-pick-assures-ongoing-tesla-fsd-investigation-and-rigorous-oversight-of-boeing">maintain rigorous oversight of</a> troubled planemaker Boeing Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) and continue safety investigations into Elon Musk&#8216;s EV giant Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) if confirmed.
Why It Matters: Current regulations pertaining to EVs are under question under the incoming Trump administration. Trump, during his Presidential campaign, swore to end what he termed &#8220;the electric vehicle mandate.&#8221; 
In November, it was also reported that&nbsp;Trump&#8217;s transition team&nbsp;is planning to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/24/11/41999238/ross-gerber-blasts-teslas-support-for-ending-ev-tax-credit-as-insanity-amid-reported-policy-shift-under-trump-administration" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">end the $7,500 consumer tax credit</a>&nbsp;for purchasing EVs under President Biden&#8217;s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
Duffy&#8217;s attempt to charge EV drivers for road use, however, cannot be implemented by the Department of Transportation alone and would instead require it to work with Congress and implement new legislation.
If confirmed, Duffy would oversee critical agencies including the FAA, NHTSA, and Federal Railroad Administration.
