The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SCHW#NYSE">SCHW</a>) reported upbeat fourth-quarter results on Tuesday.
Revenue rose 20% year over year to $5.33 billion, beating the consensus of $5.19 billion.
Net interest revenue rose 19% Y/Y to $2.531 billion in the fourth quarter. Clients' daily average trades totaled 6.312 million, up 22% Y/Y.
Adjusted net income rose 44% Y/Y to $1.97 billion. Adjusted EPS increased 49% to $1.01, beating the consensus of $0.91.
Total client assets rose 19% Y/Y to $10.10trillion. The company's active brokerage accounts reached 36.5 million in the quarter.
Mike Verdeschi, CFO, said, "Client transactional sweep cash grew by $35 billion versus 3Q24, including a $25 billion increase in December due to typical year-end seasonality. This build helped us further reduce Bank Supplemental Funding by $14.9 billion to $49.9 billion – down ~50% from peak levels."
Charles Schwab shares gained 5.9% to close at $80.93 on Tuesday.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Tech Stocks In Focus</h3>
On CNBC's &#8220;Mad Money Lightning Round,&#8221; Jim Cramer said Rigetti Computing, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RGTI#NASDAQ">RGTI</a>) is a quantum stock. &#8220;If you want to participate in a short squeeze, this is better <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/RGTI">than most,&#8221; he added</a>.
Shares of quantum stocks, including Rigetti Computing, rose sharply on Tuesday amid strength in tech and AI stocks as investors assessed the new administration&#8217;s policies and AI efforts.
Cramer recommended buying ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ASML#NASDAQ">ASML</a>), adding that it is a &#8220;remarkably great&#8221; company.
Supporting his view, Wells Fargo analyst Joseph Quatrochi, on Jan. 13, maintained ASML with an Overweight and raised the price target from $790 to $860.
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>) is a &#8220;great&#8221; company, Cramer said. &#8220;I do think that there's a lot of people who believe that they will not be able to deliver on this quarter. I, therefore, am reluctant to get in ahead of the quarter.&#8221;
AMD will report fiscal fourth quarter and full year 2024 financial results after the closing bell on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings at $1.09 per share, up from 77 cents per share in the year-ago period.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hold On To This Stock</h3>
The &#8220;Mad Money&#8221; host recommended to hold on to Dow Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DOW#NYSE">DOW</a>). &#8220;I don't want to sell it here, we might be at some sort of trough at this very moment in Dow pricing,&#8221; he added.
Recently, on Jan. 13, Morgan Stanley analyst Vincent Andrews also maintained Dow with an Equal-Weight rating and cut the price target from $59 to $46.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Discusses His View On Health Care Stocks</h3>
Cramer said Elanco Animal Health Incorporated (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ELAN#NYSE">ELAN</a>) is not his favorite and considers Chewy (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CHWY#NYSE">CHWY</a>) as the better bet for this group.
Adding support to Cramer's view, Stifel analyst Jonathan Block, on Jan. 7, lowered the price target on the stock from $20 to $18.
Clover Health Investments, Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CLOV#NASDAQ">CLOV</a>) is losing a lot of money and is &#8220;just a total spec,&#8221; Cramer said.
On Nov. 6, Clover Health Investments reported worse-than-expected third-quarter revenue results.

Prominent Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) critic Peter Schiff reignited debates on the crypto king&#8217;s legitimacy by labeling it a meme coin <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/43123173/3-reasons-why-bitcoin-could-hit-122000-soon-10x-research">devoid of intrinsic value</a>.
What Happened: Schiff on Tuesday on X <a href="https://x.com/PeterSchiff/status/1881783737584906551">responded</a> to Anthony Pompliano's explanation of meme coins, stating that there's little to distinguish Bitcoin from newer meme assets like TRUMP.
"It's a fine line to walk when explaining a meme coin without exposing the same fraud about Bitcoin," he added. He <a href="https://x.com/PeterSchiff/status/1881770557223682309">stated</a>, "Bitcoin is a meme coin."
Schiff's post sparked debate across Crypto Twitter, with some comparing Bitcoin to gold. 
Bitcoin podcast host Walker argued, "The meme is perfected sound money that is superior to gold" and claimed Bitcoin is gradually <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/01/42935597/mark-cuban-advocates-bitcoin-over-gold-during-economic-turmoil-i-think-it-has-more-value-than-gold">demonetizing gold</a>.
CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju took it further, calling gold a "meme asset," with 90% of its valuation stemming from narrative belief. 
He concluded, "Goldbugs are no different from Bitcoin maxis."
Schiff dismissed the comparisons, reiterating that gold's value is rooted in tangible properties, unlike Bitcoin, which he called &#8220;fool&#8217;s gold.&#8221;
Schiff's detractors reminded him of past predictions, including his claim that Bitcoin would never reach $100,000, and asked what he would say if it hit $1 million. 
One trader quipped, "Peter Schiff wouldn't exist without Bitcoin," to which Schiff retorted that he was well-known before Bitcoin.

While he insists he doesn't hate Bitcoin, he cautioned that millions might lose more than they can afford.
In December 2024, Schiff argued <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/12/42392610/peter-schiff-bitcoin-is-a-threat-to-the-us-and-public-enemy-number-one">Bitcoin could become a "public enemy"</a> if the government squandered taxpayer money on it, describing it as the riskiest asset.

In the healthcare sector, Stephanie Link of Hightower said she likes UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UNH#NYSE">UNH</a>) at 17 times earnings and long-term average is 24 times. &#8220;I like the discount,&#8221; she added.
In recent earnings news, UnitedHealth Group, last week, reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings and reaffirmed 2025 guidance. The company reported adjusted EPS of $6.81, up from $6.16 a year ago, beating the consensus of $6.72.
Rounding out the trades, Brian Belski of BMO Capital Markets picked Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMG#NYSE">AMG</a>), a financial stock.
Supporting his view, Deutsche Bank analyst Brian Bedell, on Nov. 11, maintained Affiliated Managers Group with a Buy rating and raised the price target from $204 to $208.

Block, Disney, Affiliated Managers Group And A Health Care Stock On CNBC's 'Final Trades'

Loews Corp&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/L#NYSE">L</a>) reported&nbsp;a third-quarter&nbsp;net income of&nbsp;$401&nbsp;million compared to $253 million a year ago. EPS was&nbsp;$1.82, up from&nbsp;$1.12 year-ago. Revenues grew to&nbsp;$4.47 billion&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/24/11/n41708116/loews-corporation-reports-net-income-of-401-million-for-the-third-quarter-of-2024" rel="noreferrer noopener">from&nbsp;$3.93 billion&nbsp;a year ago.</a>



CNA Financial Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CAN#NYSE">CAN</a>) revenue contribution increased to&nbsp;$3.62 billion&nbsp;from&nbsp;$3.34 billion&nbsp;a year ago, and net income rose to&nbsp;$259 million&nbsp;from&nbsp;$235 million&nbsp;a year ago.



CNA&#8217;s net income attributable to Loews improved year-over-year due to higher net investment income partially offset by higher catastrophe losses.



Boardwalk Pipelines segment's revenues rose to&nbsp;$483 million&nbsp;from&nbsp;$363 million&nbsp;in the year-ago quarter, and net income rose to&nbsp;$77 million&nbsp;from&nbsp;$49 million&nbsp;the prior year.



Boardwalk Pipelines' results improved year-over-year due to higher re-contracting rates and newly completed growth projects.



Loews Hotels&#8217; revenues increased to&nbsp;$226 million&nbsp;from&nbsp;$196 million&nbsp;a year ago, and net income stood at&nbsp;$(8) million&nbsp;vs. $17 million&nbsp;a year ago. The result reflects an impairment charge recorded by a joint venture property.



As of September 30, 2024, the company had&nbsp;$3.3&nbsp;billion&nbsp;in cash and investments and&nbsp;$1.8&nbsp;billion&nbsp;in debt.



Loews repurchased 0.8&nbsp;million shares for&nbsp;$64&nbsp;million&nbsp;in&nbsp;the quarter and an additional 1.2&nbsp;million shares for&nbsp;$92&nbsp;million&nbsp;so far in the&nbsp;fourth quarter.



&#8220;Loews had another good quarter. Boardwalk continues to benefit from favorable industry tailwinds that have led to higher re-contracting rates and robust pipeline flows. CNA performed well despite elevated industry catastrophe losses,&#8221; said James S. Tisch, President and CEO, Loews Corporation.

Loews Corp&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/L#NYSE">L</a>)&nbsp;reported&nbsp;first-quarter FY24 net income of $457 million, up 22% Y/Y. EPS of $2.05 was higher than the year-ago figure of $1.61.



Revenues were $4.23 billion, higher than&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">$3.78 billion a year ago</a>.



CNA Financial Corp&nbsp;(NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CNA#NYSE">CNA</a>) revenue contribution increased to $3.44 billion from $3.15 billion a year ago, and net income rose to $310 million from&nbsp;$268 million a year ago.



CNA&#8217;s net income benefited from higher&nbsp;net investment income and favorable net prior-year loss reserve development.



Boardwalk Pipelines segment&#8217;s revenues rose to $517 million from $397 million in the year-ago quarter, and net income rose to $121 million from $86 million the prior year.&nbsp;



Broadway Pipelines benefitted from higher revenues from re-contracting at higher rates and recently completed growth projects.



Loews Hotels&#8217; revenues rose to $216 million from $192 million a year ago, while&nbsp;net income declined to $16 million from $24 million a year ago owing to lower equity income from joint ventures on decreased overall occupancy rates in&nbsp;Orlando.



As of&nbsp;March-end, the company had&nbsp;$3.2 billion&nbsp;in cash and investments and&nbsp;$1.8 billion&nbsp;in debt.



Loews repurchased 0.9 million shares for $67 million in the quarter. As of the first quarter&#8217;s end, 222.1 million common shares remained outstanding.

A new ETF will highlight the companies in the S&amp;P 500 that give large contributions to the Democratic Party and related political action committees.&nbsp;

The DEMZ ETF: The DEMZ Political Contributions Fund ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/DEMZ#NASDAQ">DEMZ</a>)<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/20/11/b18181492/demz-the-first-democratic-values-etf-launches-on-election-day"> launched</a> Tuesday, Nov. 3, coinciding with the 2020 election.

The ETF selects components from the S&amp;P 500 that give at least 75% of political contributions to the Democratic Party and related PACs.

Fund sponsor Reflection Asset Management utilizes third-party data around political contributions compiled by Goods Unite Us, a nonpartisan technology data platform, according to a filing by the ETF.&nbsp;

&ldquo;DEMZ provides U.S. large-cap&nbsp;equity exposure, while maintaining the integrity of owning only those companies that share the investor&rsquo;s commitment to Democratic causes and candidates,&rdquo; said CEO Jason Britton.

The company has strong weighting in technology stocks, which have been one of the top-performing sectors in 2020.

Along with Alphabet, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), International Business Machines Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/IBM#NYSE">IBM</a>) and Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) are top 10&nbsp;holdings.

Rival Republican ETF: The Point Bridge GOP Stock Tracker ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/MAGA#BATS">MAGA</a>) was launched in September 2017. The ETF holds S&amp;P 500 component companies that make more&nbsp;donations to the Republican Party than Democrats.&nbsp;

The fund has 150 holdings, but does not hold many technology companies, as these companies tend to donate more to Democrats.&nbsp;

The founder of the fund said it will continue and keep the &quot;MAGA&quot; ticker symbol even if Donald Trump loses the 2020 election.

The MAGA ETF is down 7% in 2020 and has lost value since it first went public in 2017.
