By the time you're reading this, we'll have a slew of bank earnings out, and the fortunes (or misfortunes) for these stocks will manifest. I've looked at all the major bank earnings coming up from JPM, C, GS and the one which interests me the most is WFC.
Why?
Because after looking at my PFP (positioning, flows and price action) system, WFC is setup for the best trade opportunity.
Let me show you.
Options Positioning in $WFC
Out of all the gamma positioning maps between the banks, WFC had the most interesting structure. The top gamma strike (TGS) is at $70, which is where price action has been parked since December 16. With only a few points above/below, $70 has established itself as ‘fair value'.

Earnings releases tend to push markets away from fair value over the coming sessions, weeks and months, especially as analyst ratings adjust. In terms of ‘where' I think WFC can go, I have two clear options positionally.
Above is the top call strike (TCS) at $75. This becomes an obvious target for bulls while the top put strike (TPS) is below at $65, thus becoming a bear target. A very tidy ‘framing' with the positioning, thus I just need the earnings to move the needle enough to push up or down.
Price Action in $WFC
Looking at the 4hr chart below, we've spent slightly more time above $70 then below it. This was due to the Trump-Bump with the stock settling at fair value.
 Because we've recently been at $65 and $75, both are reasonable targets from a price action perspective that bulls or bears would target respectively.
Flows in $WFC
Flows on the day have been quite bullish in anticipation of the earnings. This is shown by the notional delta reading (as of this writing ~40mins before market close on Tuesday) to be over 15M. For reference, the 30-day record is 14M, so we're above the 30-day high.
This communicates heavy participation in anticipation of the earnings, with bulls buying calls and bears selling puts. Both sides of the option market are bullish, yet the stock has barely budged. This is either longer dated flows, or short calls taking profits and long puts following suit.
How We're Trading $WFC
Looking at the implied move for the week, we're estimating a $3 move up or down from the earnings print. That fits snugly inside the $75/$65 positional range. If most banks produce bullish earnings, $75 looks workable while failing to impress would put $65 under watch.
I can't do a long iron condor as I think its too pricy and offers a risk/reward that is uninteresting. I can do long straddles further out in time to avoid the earnings IV crush, or buy a bull call spread while picking up some long puts to protect my downside.

The Only Bank Worth Trading This Week

IonQ, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IONQ#NYSE">IONQ</a>) shares rose on Wednesday following NVIDIA Corp&#8217;s announcement of its first Quantum Day, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/01/43001201/nvidia-announces-first-ever-quantum-day-at-gtc-2025-days-after-jensen-huang-said-quantum-computing-is-20-years-away" rel="noreferrer noopener">scheduled for March 20 during GTC 2025.</a>
This news comes shortly after CEO Jensen Huang mentioned that practical quantum computing could still take up to two decades to materialize.

Meanwhile, IonQ announced a partnership with the University of Maryland and the State of Maryland to establish the region as the &#8220;Capital of Quantum.&#8221;
This initiative aims to catalyze over $1 billion in investments and transform Maryland into a leading hub for quantum computing innovation, according to a press release.

As part of the plan, IonQ will anchor a state-of-the-art quantum intelligence campus at the University of Maryland at College Park, subject to available incentives and budget approval.

The partnership focuses on advancing quantum computing and networking technologies.
IonQ will also collaborate with the University of Maryland to develop educational resources for high school students, introducing them to quantum technologies.
Governor Wes Moore emphasized that investing in quantum computing is key to Maryland&#8217;s economic development and technological leadership.

Wall Street staged a strong rebound on Wednesday, as mixed inflation data bolstered investor confidence in the Federal Reserve's continuation of easing cycle in 2025, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/01/43001512/inflation-rises-to-29-in-december-core-slows-yet-rising-energy-costs-put-feds-target-at-risk">easing recent market anxieties.</a>
The headline Consumer Price Index rose 2.9% year-over-year in December, up from November&#8217;s 2.7% and aligning with economist forecasts. On a monthly basis, headline inflation increased by 0.4%, up from November&#8217;s 0.3%, marking the sharpest monthly rise since March 2024.
The inflation report strengthened market expectations for Fed rate cuts in 2025. The probability of a rate cut by June climbed to 63%, up from 55% the previous day, with December futures now pricing in a 50% chance of two rate cuts.
The S&amp;P 500 advanced 1.5% by midday trading in New York, and the Dow Jones followed suit with a similar gain, both supported by strength in financial stocks. The Nasdaq 100 outperformed, rising 1.9%, while small-cap stocks posted a 1.7% gain.
Key financial giants, including JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>), Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/C#NYSE">C</a>), Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GS#NYSE">GS</a>), Wells Fargo &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/WFC#NYSE">WFC</a>), Bank of New York Mellon Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BK#NYSE">BK</a>), and BlackRock Inc. The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLF#NYSE">XLF</a>) surged nearly 2.2%, leading all S&amp;P 500 sectors and recording its strongest one-day gain in over two months.
In the bond market, yields on the 2-year Treasury note, which is highly sensitive to interest rate expectations, fell 9 basis points to 4.28%, while 30-year yields dropped 8 basis points to 4.89%. The iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) gained 1.3% as bond prices rose.
The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY), as tracked by the Invesco DB USD Index Bullish Fund ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UUP#NYSE">UUP</a>), remained flat, with dollar strength against the euro offset by weakness versus the yen.
West Texas Intermediate — as tracked by the United States Oil Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/USO#NYSE">USO</a>) — rallied 2%, hitting $80 a barrel during the day amid a stronger-than-expected drop in commercial crude stocks last week.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) jumped 2.6%, nearing $99,000, buoyed by optimism surrounding potential Fed rate cuts. Meanwhile, gold, tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), gained 0.5%.

Hamas has verbally accepted a draft agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and for the release of dozens of hostages, according to various sources including the Associated Press, which obtained <a href="https://apnews.com/article/israel-hamas-gaza-ceasefire-draft-terms-hostages-3df21b67620fdc8f62aa1d1e96487880">copy of the proposed agreement</a> that it said was confirmed by Egyptian and Hamas officials <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global">to be authentic</a>.
&#8220;We have a deal for the hostages in the Middle East. They will be released shortly. Thank you!&#8221; said President-elect Donald Trump on his Truth Social network. 
Nevertheless, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu&#8216;s cabinet still needs to ratify the deal. A vote is expected by Thursday. The agreement outlines an initial six-week ceasefire, during which Hamas would release 33 Israeli hostages, including women, children and the elderly, in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners.
This phase also includes a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from central Gaza and the return of displaced Palestinians to the northern regions of the enclave. According to the officials, reported Reuters, there has been last-minute wrangling over the Egypt-Gaza border, which is now controlled by Israeli forces.
Despite the progress in negotiations, Israeli military operations have continued, resulting in additional Palestinian casualties. The urgency to finalize the ceasefire was heightened by the impending inauguration of Trump on Jan. 20, who <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/42933339/trumps-envoy-urges-netanyahu-for-gaza-deal-can-ceasefire-efforts-succeed-before-inauguration">said</a> there would be hell to pay if Israeli hostages were not released before he takes office.
The proposed ceasefire is structured in three phases:
<ol start="1">
<li>First Phase: A six-week ceasefire during which Hamas would release 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Israeli forces would begin a gradual withdrawal from central Gaza, allowing displaced Palestinians to return to their homes, though they have mostly been destroyed.</li>
<li>Second Phase: Negotiations for the release of remaining hostages and a more comprehensive Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.</li>
<li>Third Phase: The return of the bodies of remaining hostages in exchange for a reconstruction plan for Gaza.</li>
</ol>
The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with hopes that the ceasefire will alleviate regional tensions and pave the way for the reconstruction of Gaza, where up to 50,000 people — mostly civilians and children — have reportedly been killed by Israeli bombardment, according Palestinian, international and some Israeli agencies.
The deal&#8217;s success hinges on the resolution of outstanding issues, including the specifics of Israeli troop withdrawals and the mechanisms for prisoner exchanges.

Beacon (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BECN#NASDAQ">BECN</a>) (the "Company") today confirmed that it has previously received and rejected an unsolicited, non-binding proposal from QXO, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QXO#NASDAQ">QXO</a>) to acquire all outstanding shares of the Company for $124.25 per share in cash.
QXO's proposal, publicized today, was received on November 11, 2024. Consistent with its fiduciary duties, and in consultation with its independent financial and legal advisors, Beacon's Board of Directors (the "Board") thoroughly evaluated the proposal. Following its review, the Board unanimously rejected the proposal and determined that it significantly undervalues the Company and its prospects for growth and future value creation. The Board therefore determined that QXO's proposal was not in the best interests of Beacon and its shareholders.
Contrary to QXO's assertions, Beacon offered on multiple occasions to engage, including to discuss price, subject only to a standard non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Additionally, Beacon:
<ul>
<li>Held repeated discussions between members of the Beacon executive team and QXO, as well as with the respective advisors of the parties.</li>
<li>Offered a standard NDA to share confidential management projections and other relevant company information to further develop QXO's valuation of Beacon. QXO refused to engage on multiple occasions, stating that it was not interested in any confidential information.</li>
<li>Offered to limit the duration of the customary confidentiality obligations as part of the NDA only through Beacon's planned Investor Day on March 13, at which point 2028 long-term targets will be presented.</li>
<li>Structured the NDA to preserve QXO's ability to run a proxy contest at the upcoming 2025 annual meeting of shareholders.</li>

D-Wave Quantum has not been the only company to see significant gains; other companies, like&nbsp;Quantum Computing Inc., have also experienced significant gains. This surge underscores the growing anticipation and investment in <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/43004816" rel="noreferrer noopener">quantum computing technologies.</a>
Apart from this, today, D-Wave partnered with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/b42999004/d-wave-and-carahsoft-partner-to-expand-distribution-of-quantum-computing-solutions-to-the-public-s" rel="noreferrer noopener">Carahsoft Technology Corp</a>.
As per the deal, Carahsoft will serve as D-Wave&#8217;s Master Government Aggregator. Notably, D-Wave and Carahsoft will jointly promote D-Wave&#8217;s quantum solutions to the Public Sector via Carahsoft&#8217;s reseller network.
These offerings include real-time access to D-Wave&#8217;s Advantage quantum systems through the Leap cloud platform, workforce training to enhance Public Sector skills, and expert support from D-Wave&#8217;s professional services team to develop tailored applications for specific government use cases.
This partnership will make D-Wave&#8217;s cutting-edge quantum computing technologies available to the Public Sector through its reseller network and various procurement contracts.
D-Wave technologies enable the development of quantum and hybrid applications that address key Public Sector priorities, such as national defense, intelligence, emergency management and energy resilience.
Last week, D-Wave Quantum said it expects booking&nbsp;to exceed&nbsp;$23 million, marking <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/42913599" rel="noreferrer noopener">a&nbsp;120%&nbsp;increase over fiscal year 2023</a>.
Additionally, D-Wave disclosed that its fiscal&nbsp;fourth-quarter&nbsp;2024 bookings will reach at least&nbsp;$18 million, a staggering&nbsp;500%&nbsp;increase<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener"> over the same period last year</a>.
