The sell-off in the shares of Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) and Alphabet, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) did not go down well with CNBC Mad Money host Jim Cramer. He aired his view on the sell-off through a series of posts on the social-media platform X, owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
What Happened: Tesla shares fell about 9% and Google-parent Alphabet over 4% in premarket trading. Commenting on the stock moves, Cramer said, &#8220;Wonder if any of the sellers of Google or Tesla actually listened to the conference calls last night because anyone who did knows these companies are doing extremely well.&#8221;
&#8220;It is ALL zeitgeist and an attempt to get CEOs to say they are spending too much on AI,&#8221; he added.

Tesla is ramping up efforts to bring its full self-driving technology to fruition. Just after the earnings call, Musk ran a poll on whether Tesla should invest $5 billion in his xAI venture.
Alphabet hinted at an acceleration in its capital spending plans to stay ahead of the rest of its AI peers. Deepwater Asset Management&#8217;s Gene Munster said the company runs the risk of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/07/39925881/alphabet-investors-fret-over-margin-impact-of-higher-ai-related-capex-but-fund-mana">losing its grip on the future if it doesn&#8217;t grow CapEx at a 70%+ rate.</a>

Tesla Poses Triple Threat: Tagging Musk, Cramer said he loved the quarter because &#8220;it shows you will be the leader in self-drive AND robotics AND grid electric flow.&#8221; &#8220;Triple threat man!&#8221; he added. 
Cramer expressed his optimism concerning the electric vehicle maker in a separate post. &#8220;I know that Tesla&#8217;s stock is down in after hours but, holy cow, what a terrific conference call: tutorial on autonomy, humanoids, batteries&#8230;really impressive,&#8221; he said.
Not many may buy into this argument as critics <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/07/39924771/bubble-fraud-tesla-worth-around-8-40-per-share-stock-valuation-under-scrutiny-as-ev">questioned the valuation of the stock</a> amid the earnings miss and sizeable benefit bestowed by the zero emission-vehicle credit, which is one-time in nature.
Sell-offs Motive: Cramer said the sell-off has a mind of its own. While there was nothing wrong with Google&#8217;s results, Tesla has a lot of things going for it that no one cares about now but will matter years down the road, he said.
&#8220;A lot of this selloff has to do with the endless desire to get the small-cap v. Mag 7 nonsense going,&#8221; he said, adding &#8220;It&#8217;s just supposed to be this giant shift of money out of Mag 7 into the small-cap. It&#8217;s &#8216;the&#8217; hot flavor narrative.&#8221;
He also recommended against moving money out of mega-caps and artificial intelligence into &#8220;lousy&#8221; small-caps that &#8220;aren&#8217;t worth nearly as much as we are going to take them to.&#8221;
The iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IWM#NYSE">IWM</a>), which tracks the small-cap focused Russell 2,000 Index, fell 0.50% to $221.52 in premarket trading, according to <a href="https://benzinga.grsm.io/register174">Benzinga Pro data.</a>

Theoretically, everyone pays their portion of the pie, with homeowners in the most valuable properties paying the most. Properties are typically assessed annually, so whether you bought your home in 1975 or 2020 shouldn&#8217;t make a difference. But what if that isn&#8217;t the case?&nbsp;
With escalating inflation, some states have measures to limit maximum annual increases – with varying degrees of success. This year, Alabama, Wyoming, and Kansas enacted laws designed to protect homeowners from future astronomical tax hikes. Realtor.com reports that, in November, voters in Colorado and Georgia will weigh in on similar proposals.
However, realtor.com says the most controversial example comes from Georgia's Muscogee County. In 1982, voters approved a local ordinance freezing property taxes for existing homeowners. Since then, longtime homeowners have benefited from almost nonexistent <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/partner/real-estate/24/07/39664963/you-may-be-spending-more-on-property-taxes-than-you-need-to-save-on-taxes-with-ownwell-and-on">property taxes by today&#8217;s standards</a>.

Suzanne Widenhouse, the county's chief appraiser, reported that two similar homes, each worth about $330,000, had a whopping $3,228 difference in their tax bill. One, owned by the same person since 1980, had to pay just $8 in property taxes, while the other, purchased in 2017, owed $3,236.&nbsp;
What is a fair property tax? That&#8217;s the real question with this disparity. Two homeowners with similar properties should pay a similar amount. But is $3,236 or about $270 a month for a home under the average price in many areas fair?&nbsp;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Does the local municipality have the funds to offer services, and does it add value for homeowners?&nbsp;</h2>
And what is proportional? In some areas, home values have jumped 54% in the past five years, according to the Case-Schiller home price index. Last year, state and local governments collected about $760 billion in property taxes, up 31% from 2018. That&#8217;s great for cities but one more burden for homeowners who struggle with rising inflation in other areas.&nbsp;
Is a cap the solution? In Washington state, which has had a 1% annual property tax cap since 2001, local municipalities can&#8217;t <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/costs-of-buying-a-home">keep up with rising costs</a>, leading to shortages or reduced services.&nbsp;

Pentair plc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PNR#NYSE">PNR</a>) reported better-than-expected second-quarter financial results and revised its FY24 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/24/07/39907439/pentair-navigates-economic-headwinds-posts-q2-earnings-beat-updates-outlook-more">adjusted EPS guidance above estimates.</a>
Pentair reported a second-quarter 2024 net sales rose 2% Y/Y to $1.099 billion, marginally beating the consensus of $1.095 billion. Adjusted EPS rose 18% Y/Y to $1.22, surpassing the consensus of $1.14, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>.
Flow sales decreased by 4% YoY to $396.8 million, Segment income of $84.4 million (+13% Y/Y), and the operating margin was 21.3%, an increase of 310 bps Y/Y. Water Solutions sales were $310.5 million (-8% Y/Y), Segment income was $72.9 million (-3% Y/Y), and ROS was 23.5%, up 130 bps Y/Y. Pool segment sales were $391.5 million (+17% Y/Y), Segment income was $133.6 million (+27% Y/Y), and ROS was 34.1%, up 270 bps Y/Y.
For FY24, Pentair revised adjusted EPS to $4.25 (from $4.15-$4.25) vs. consensus of $4.18; sees sales growth to be roughly flat to down 1% (vs. an increase of 2%-3% earlier) on a reported basis.
The company sees third-quarter adjusted EPS of $1.06 – $1.08 versus a consensus of $1.07. It expects sales to be down about 2%-3% on a reported basis.
Pentair shares gained 9% to close at $87.19 on Tuesday.
These analysts made changes to their price targets on Pentair following the announcement.

Pentair Analysts Increase Their Forecasts After Upbeat Earnings

In a bold strategic move, Riot Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RIOT#NASDAQ">RIOT</a>) has announced its acquisition of Block Mining, a Kentucky-based Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) miner with a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com//node/39918868">massive power capability</a>. 
This acquisition aims to boost Riot&#8217;s mining prowess, as JPMorgan analyst Reginald L. Smith highlighted: "The deal diversifies Riot's power supply and increases capacity to over 2 GW, the second largest among U.S.-listed miners."
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Riot&#8217;s $92.5 Million Power Play</h2>
Riot is shelling out $92.5 million to acquire Block Mining, split between $18.5 million in cash and $74 million in stock. As Smith noted, "Riot paid $1.5M per energized MW and ~$1M per contracted MW." 
This investment unlocks significant power resources, including Block Mining&#8217;s two Kentucky data centers, which can collectively support up to 305 MW by the end of 2025.
The acquisition gives Riot control over Commerce Drive, a 35 MW facility in Paducah with plans to expand to 100 MW, and Blue Steel, a 25 MW site in Calvert City, with potential growth to 55 MW. Additionally, the greenfield Coleman Road site offers between 60-150 MW and is expected to be operational by late 2025.

This acquisition is more than just about power; it's a leap in Riot&#8217;s hashrate ambitions. With 22 EH/s already online, Riot plans to increase its targets to 36.3 EH/s by the end of 2024 and 56.6 EH/s by the end of 2025.
"Riot aims to solidify their position as one of the three largest U.S.-listed miners by hashrate and power pipeline," Smith emphasized, marking a significant increase from prior goals of 31.5 EH/s and 40.8 EH/s.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Strategic Diversification Beyond Corsicana</h3>
Riot&#8217;s expansion beyond Corsicana, Texas, signals a strategic pivot, with Smith noting, "The announcement comes as a surprise, given the expansion potential at Corsicana." 
This move positions Riot as a leader in the industry, boasting the second-largest capacity among U.S.-listed miners.
By securing additional power sources and enhancing its mining capabilities, Riot Platforms is poised to reshape the crypto-mining landscape and assert its dominance in the market.

On CNBC's &#8220;<a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2024/07/23/final-trades-corning-truist-financial-kinder-morgan-and-honeywell.html">Halftime Report Final Trades</a>,&#8221; Kevin Simpson of Capital Wealth Planning said Honeywell International Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HON#NASDAQ">HON</a>) bought back 10% of their float over the last five years.
Honeywell will release its second-quarter financial results, before the opening bell on Thursday, July 25. Analysts expect the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company to report quarterly earnings at $2.41 per share, up from $2.23 per share in the year-ago period. Honeywell is seen posting revenue of $9.41 billion, compared to $9.17 billion a year earlier, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

Joshua Brown of Ritholtz Wealth Management said Corning Incorporated (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLW#NYSE">GLW</a>) had a big rally and has been consolidating. &#8220;I think waiting for the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/24/07/39665128/why-apples-glass-supplier-corning-shares-are-jumping-premarket-today">next leg up,&#8221; he noted</a>.
On July 8, Corning increased its second-quarter core sales guidance. The company now projects core sales to be approximately $3.6 billion (vs. consensus of $3.41 billion), an increase from the previous guidance of $3.4 billion. Core EPS is expected to reach the high end of, or slightly exceed, the management's guided range of $0.42 to $0.46 (vs. estimate of $0.45).
Jenny Van Leeuwen Harrington of Gilman Hill Asset Management said Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KMI#NYSE">KMI</a>) has a 5.3% yield. Earnings were &#8220;perfectly great,&#8221; she added.
On July 17, Kinder Morgan reported second-quarter FY24 revenue of $3.57 billion, missing the consensus of $4.12 billion.
Stephanie Link of Hightower said Truist Financial Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TFC#NYSE">TFC</a>) topped earnings and revenue estimates.
On July 22, Truist Financial posted better-than-expected quarterly earnings. The company reported quarterly earnings of 91 cents per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 82 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $5.018 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $4.805 billion.
