R2 Semiconductor ("R2"), a Third Point Ventures portfolio company, today announced it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in Le Tribunal Judiciaire de Paris against the French subsidiaries of Intel Corp ("Intel") (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>) and its customers, Dell Technologies ("Dell") (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DELL#NYSE">DELL</a>) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company and HP Inc. (together "HP") (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HPE#NYSE">HPE</a>). The filing comes shortly before the April 16 start of trial on the same European patent against Intel in the U.K.'s High Court of Justice, Patents Court in London.
R2's lawsuit in France is its latest action in defense of the groundbreaking patent covering integrated voltage regulation technology invented by R2 Founder and CEO David Fisher. The California-based company in February won judgments by the Dusseldorf Regional Court in Germany against Intel, Dell and HP, including injunctions that prohibit the sale, manufacture or importation of any chips that use R2's technology. Last month, the Higher Regional Court of Dusseldorf summarily denied Intel's attempt to halt those judgments, leaving the injunctions against both Intel and its customers untouched. R2 has since sued Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL and Fujitsu Technology Solutions GmbH (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FJTSY#OTC">FJTSY</a>) in the Dusseldorf Regional Court in Germany, claiming both companies are using infringing Intel chips, and seeking a further injunction against those companies.
"The invention we are protecting in Germany, the U.K., and now in France, is protected by patent throughout all of Europe. R2 is fortunate to have the means to enforce our rights to stop this egregious behavior by Intel," said R2 CEO David Fisher. "R2's integrated voltage regulation technology is critical to Intel's products in the PC, laptop, and server markets, yet R2 receives no recognition or compensation for our innovation, which was the result of years of work and effort. We are fully prepared to enforce the injunction in Germany, and look forward to the chance to demonstrate that Intel's products should be similarly enjoined, and damages paid, in the U.K. It is unfortunate that we must now seek further relief in other European countries, like France, but Intel seems intent on fighting in court as opposed to doing the right thing."

What Happened: <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/20/tokyo-2020-chief-muto-does-not-rule-out-11th-hour-cancellation-of-games.html">CNBC</a> reported&nbsp;Tokyo Organizing Committee CEO Toshiro Muto told a news conference on Tuesday morning&nbsp;he&#39;s watching the level of COVID-19 infections and will confer with other Olympics-related entities to determine a course of action with the Olympics, which are scheduled to begin Friday after being delayed for a year.
&ldquo;We can&rsquo;t predict what will happen with the number of coronavirus cases,&rdquo; Muto said. &ldquo;So, we will continue discussions if there is a spike in cases.&rdquo;
Muto, the former deputy governor of the Bank of Japan, diplomatically declined to specifically cite cancellation as an option, but nonetheless acknowledged an unprecedented health crisis was severely impacting the event.

What Happened:&nbsp;This the first such instance in the Japanese exchange desk&#39;s history since it adopted an electronic trading system in 1999, <a href="http://www.ft.com/content/0f6903d9-c603-47f1-b738-2be9f3b2bca8">according</a> to the Financial Times.
TSE said in a statement &quot;restoration is currently undecided&quot; and it remains&nbsp;unsure whether trading would resume as usual on Friday.
Nagoya Stock Exchange, Fukuoka Stock Exchange, and the Sapporo Securities Exchange were&nbsp;also affected.&nbsp;All the&nbsp;exchanges that faced a setback operate on the cash equity trading system built by the Japanese tech company Fujitsu Ltd (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/fjtsy#OTC">FJTSY</a>).&nbsp;

Data analytics company Palantir Technologies Inc.&nbsp;remains unprofitable, even as it prepares to go public, leaked screenshots of an investor presentation suggest, TechCrunch <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2020/08/21/leaked-s-1-screenshots-show-palantir-losing-579m-in-2019/">reported</a> Sunday.
What Happened: In 2019, Palantir generated $742 million in revenue, which is approximately 25% higher than $595 million in 2018, according to TechCrunch.
The Peter Thiel-co-founded company posted a net loss of about $580 million in the year.
Whereas, in the first six months of 2020 the company has recorded a turnover of around $481 million,&nbsp;at a 49% YoY growth rate.
The operating expenses for H1&nbsp;were 107% of the revenue, down from 157% in H1 2019, but still significantly high for a 17-year-old company, TechCrunch noted.
Why It Matters: The privately funded software company is reportedly planning a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/20/08/17064780/peter-thiels-palantir-plans-to-go-public-via-direct-listing-next-month-report" style="color:#0563c1; text-decoration:underline">direct listing</a>&nbsp;of its stock in September.
Palantir was valued at $20 billion in 2015 and has raised $550 million, including&nbsp;90% from Sompo Holdings Inc. (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/smpny#OTC">SMPNY</a>) and the balance 10% from Fujitsu Ltd, (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/fjtsy#OTC">FJTSY</a>) according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Inspite of targeting a $1 billion revenue in 2020, the company is yet to report profits. The major revenue sources for Palantir are from the existing customer base, and 53% of H1 2020 revenues were from government contracts.

Palantir Remains Unprofitable Ahead Of Planned Direct Listing: Report

Palantir Technologies Inc is planning to pursue a direct listing of its stock in September, instead of taking the initial public offering route, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-08-13/palantir-is-said-to-plan-direct-listing-for-late-september">reported</a> Wednesday.
<h3>What Happened</h3>
The Peter Thiel-owned company will sell its investors&rsquo; shares on the first day of trading, instead of waiting for the lock-in period to expire, as is the norm with IPOs, according to Bloomberg.
The software analysis company would not raise any capital in the direct listing. Palantir <a href="https://sec.report/Document/0001321655-20-000001/">disclosed</a> to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in July that it had raised $550 million of its targeted $961 million capital.
Sompo Holdings Inc (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/smpny#OTC">SMPNY</a>) and Fujitsu Ltd (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/fjtsy#OTC">FJTSY</a>) had funded Palantir with&nbsp;$500 million and $50 million respectively.
The company has been&nbsp;avoiding going public thus far so as&nbsp;to stay away from public scrutiny related to its valuation and operations, while it aimed at being profitable. people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.

Palantir was co-founded in 2003 by Peter Thiel, best known&nbsp;as the&nbsp;co-founder of&nbsp;Paypal Technologies Inc.&nbsp;(NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/pypl#NASDAQ">PYPL</a>) and an angel investor in Facebook Inc. The company&nbsp;has the United States government and the Central Intelligence Agency among its clientele. It was involved in the search for the now-deceased terrorist <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/20/06/16239808/peter-thiels-palantir-may-go-public-in-september-report">Osama Bin Laden</a>.
Palantir expects its revenue to grow to $1 billion in 2020 and $1.5 billion in 2021.&nbsp;
