Needham analyst Tom Nikic initiated coverage on Foot Locker, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FL#NYSE">FL</a>) with a Buy rating and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/FL/analyst-ratings" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">a price forecast of $27</a>.
The analyst writes that Foot Locker is positioned for an earnings recovery in 2025, with improvements expected from a strengthened Nike, Inc partnership, growth in non-Nike brands, recent SG&amp;A investments, and the recovery of merchandise margins.
Despite a current lull post-back-to-school, the analyst expects trends to pick up after Thanksgiving and is encouraged by a recent consumer survey indicating strong holiday interest in sneakers.
Nikic notes that Foot Locker faced challenges due to Nike&#8217;s decision to reduce high-demand product supply but believes Nike&#8217;s shift to increase product allocations to Foot Locker starting in the fourth-quarter of 2024 will drive positive sales growth.

However, as spending tapers off next year, Foot Locker is expected to leverage these investments to expand margins.
Additionally, with merchandise margins still over 300bps below pre-COVID levels, there is further opportunity for gross margin improvement, Nikic adds.
The analyst projects the company to report FY24 revenues of $8.164 billion and earnings per share of $1.61.

Inflation has also become more volatile, reminding economists of the 1970s. Back then, the Federal Reserve declared victory over inflation prematurely, leading to policy missteps and back-to-back recessions in the early 1980s. Sonders notes that the current environment is similarly characterized by uncertainty in inflation trends, accompanied by ongoing supply chain reconfigurations and geopolitical tensions.

Why Volatility Is The New Normal: From Great Moderation To 'Temperamental Era'

Wall Street analysts rerated Gap, Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GAP#NYSE">GAP</a>) after the company reported upbeat third-quarter print Thursday.
The <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/24/11/42141895/whats-going-on-with-gap-shares-friday" rel="noreferrer noopener">company reported sales</a> of $3.829 billion, beating analyst consensus of $3.812 billion. Earnings per share of 72 cents topped analyst estimates of 57 cents.

However, fourth-quarter gross margins are expected to remain flat when adjusted for ROD deleverage from calendar shifts.
Telsey Advisory Group: Telsey provided a detailed assessment of Gap following its third-quarter earnings report. The company exceeded expectations across multiple metrics, reflecting strong operational discipline under its new leadership.
Gap has demonstrated clear progress under its strategic focus on operational discipline, inventory efficiency, and brand portfolio growth. However, the analyst cautions that sustained consistency in performance and long-term profitability will be critical for investor confidence. The positive momentum in sales and profitability efforts suggests Gap is stabilizing its business and positioning itself for future growth.

Management raised its fiscal 2024 guidance, reflecting the third-quarter outperformance.
Hutchinson raised fiscal 2024 and fiscal 2025 EPS estimates by 9% and 5%, respectively, projecting $1.97 and $1.99. The analyst increased the price target to $28, based on a 6x 2025 estimated EV/EBITDA.
Management raised its fiscal 2024 guidance for sales, gross margin, and operating income. Hutchinson expects gross margin to improve by 350 basis points compared to 2019, driven by reduced promotions and more vital full-price selling.
However, Hutchinson highlighted that while Gap has achieved significant cost savings, management may prioritize reinvesting efficiencies into growth initiatives and inflation offsets rather than improving the bottom line.
Hutchinson&#8217;s price target of $28 reflects a 6x 2025 estimated EV/EBITDA, consistent with peer averages. This valuation balances risks tied to Gap&#8217;s exposure to low-income consumers and freight costs against its turnaround potential and Athleta&#8217;s relatively more robust performance.
While Hutchinson acknowledges the company&#8217;s improved sales trajectory, remains cautious on further margin growth.
Guggenheim: Drbul highlighted the company&#8217;s earnings beat, strategic progress, and upwardly revised guidance. The quarter marked the company&#8217;s fourth consecutive quarter of top-line growth and seventh quarter of market share gains.
Drbul values Gap at 15.2x 2025 EPS, a premium to its five-year average multiple of 12.5x, reflecting confidence in ongoing operational improvements and growth potential.
He highlighted the strength of the Old Navy and Athleta brands as critical drivers, particularly noting Athleta&#8217;s position in an attractive apparel segment. FRX Innovations (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FRXIF#OTC">FRXIF</a>) is a global manufacturing company, producing a family of environmentally sustainable flame-retardant products that serve multiple large markets, in the US and globally, spanning electronics, automotive, electric vehicles (EV) and medical devices.

Flame retardants aren't often a product people think about, but there is likely a flame retardant of some sort on many items that initially wouldn't even be considered to need such treatment. From TV's, to cars, drapes, carpets, computers, appliances and mattresses—just to name a few, fire retardants are ubiquitous in people's lives all over the world. While most people don't think about such things, many existing retardants could be having a detrimental effect on health, and governments are starting to pay more attention to that possibility and issuing new regulations in an attempt to eliminate those negative health consequences. According to the National Institute of Health, many of the chemicals used in most flame retardants are associated with such adverse health effects as:

For obvious reasons, however, we don't want to necessarily get rid of fire retardants as they are an important safety component in many of the items people come into contact with every day. This is where FRX comes in. As we'll detail below, FRX Innovations provides a solution that provides the benefit of fire retardants but has none of the potential health hazards that come with traditional halogenated retardants. The company bills itself as "the world's premier polymeric, non-halogenated flame retardant (FR) provider for a range of consumer and industrial products and applications in electrical & electronics, electric vehicles, transportation, building & construction, fiber & textile, medical devices and other end-use markets." 

In short, FRX provides the solution that governments are increasingly starting to mandate, and manufacturers and consumers are increasingly demanding through its Nofia product—described in detail below. We believe that this move to safer fire retardants is in the relatively early stages but is an inevitable growing wave that FRX is riding on top of. 

FRX has been developing such a solution for over a decade and is now positioned, in our view, to benefit from this growing wave. As an example, FRX notes that it was the first company to supply non-halogenated, non-migrating, fire retardant materials of low concern to human health and the environment commercially under the brand name Nofia. Nofia is based on chemistry that allows the polymerization of a phosphonate monomer into unique oligomeric and polymeric brominated fire retardants, which have "clear advantages" such as:

•	Halogen free
•	Does not migrate from the host plastic
•	Does not bioaccumulate
•	Supplied as pellets (no liquid handling or dust formation)
•	Improves properties other than flame retardancy.

As mentioned, Nofia is a registered trademark of FRX. Nofia products are manufactured at its manufacturing facility on the Port of Antwerp in Belgium, one of the world's largest chemical producing clusters. The FRX production plant in Antwerp was constructed in 2013 with completion in 2014. It is highly efficient and requires only two technical operators per shift. It operates to the highest quality standards and is ISO 9001 certified. Nofia Polyphosphonates are produced using sustainable green chemistry principles such as a solvent-free production process, no waste byproducts, and near 100% atom efficiency. FRX's portfolio includes an extensive patent estate with 64 patent applications globally as of March 31, 2022. Per company management, Nofia flame retardants are independently assessed by the following organizations to have the best sustainability ratings of any similar product: GreenScreen, Benchmark 3, ChemFORWARD SAFER Class B, TCO listing, ChemSec Marketplace Alternative as an Oeko-Tex for textile applications—an impressive list that helps confirm that Nofia is safe for humans to be around.
