Specifically, the seat belt was properly positioned on the pelvis, the side curtain airbag functioned correctly and there was no excessive force on the chest, said the statement.
However, while most midsize SUVs provide excellent protection to the driver, recent crash test ratings have revealed that they offer inadequate front crash protection for passengers in the rear seat.
While Chevrolet Traverse, Toyota Highlander and Volkswagen Atlas, earned marginal ratings, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler 4-door, Mazda CX-9 and Nissan Murano,&nbsp;were rated poor.

Toyota Affiliate Held Responsible For Fudging Emissions Data From At Least 2003, Investigation Finds

The average price paid for a new vehicle in the U.S. during June was $48,043, according to new data Kelley Blue Book, a Cox Automotive company. This marked the highest price recorded and was the first time the average transaction price (ATP) went beyond the $48,000 mark.
What Happened: June&rsquo;s price went beyond the previous record of $47,202 set in December 2021. The ATP was up by 1.9% ($895) from May and was also 12.7% higher ($5,410) from June 2021.
The average price paid last month for a new non-luxury vehicle was $43,942, another record high. Car shoppers in the non-luxury segment paid on average $1,017 above sticker price.
New-vehicle buyers have paid approximately $1,000 above the manufacturer&#39;s suggested retail price (MSRP) for each month this year. In comparison, buyers in June 2021 only paid an average of $158 above the MSRP.

Why It Happened: The imbalance between strong customer demand and an inadequate supply enabled dealers to charge prices at or above the MSRP.
Among the manufacturers, the most dramatic year-over-year percentage change for vehicle prices were Mercedes-Benz&rsquo;s (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/dmlry#OTC">DMLRY</a>) Daimler at 15.7%, Volkswagen Group (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/vwapy#OTC">VWAPY</a>) at 15.4% and Honda (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/hmc#NYSE">HMC</a>) at 13.9%. Amond U.S. manufacturers,&nbsp;Tesla (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tsla#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) saw an 11.8% year-over-year price spike while Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/f#NYSE">F</a>) was up 8.4% and General Motors (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/gm#NYSE">GM</a>) was up 3.4%.

However, not every manufacturer recorded year-over-year price increases. Subaru Corp. (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/fujhy#OTC">FUJHY</a>) saw a scant 0.1% dip while prices on vehicles made by Mazda Motor Corp. (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/mzday#OTC">MZDAY</a>) dropped by 5.2%.

New Vehicle Prices Hit Record High In June: Report

While millions of households will be tuned in on Sunday to watch the Los Angeles Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI, other households will be viewing Team Ruff battling Team Fluff in the day&rsquo;s other annual event, Puppy Bowl XVIII,&nbsp;on Discovery Communications Inc.&rsquo;s (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/disca#NASDAQ">DISCA</a>) Animal Planet cable network and Discovery+ streaming service.
Doggone Cute: The first Puppy Bowl was broadcast on Feb. 6, 2005, as an alternative viewing experience to the Super Bowl juggernaut that muscled out all other programming on game day. Margo Kent, the executive producer for Puppy Bowl I, recalled in a&nbsp;2014 <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/americas-other-cuter-super-bowl-the-story-of-the-puppy-bowl-48603/">Rolling Stone</a> interview, &ldquo;It was always a joke: How do you counter the Super Bowl? Let&#39;s just put a box of puppies up there and call it a day. It&#39;s not worth trying to go against the Super Bowl.&rdquo;
Tapping its canine cast from animal shelters around the country, Puppy Bowl served a double purpose of advocating for dog adoptions while offering those who had no interest in football with a happy distraction of playful puppies.
While the Puppy Bowl game is supposed to be a send-up of an NFL match, it mostly seems improvised as the game progresses. There are endless dog-related puns throughout the broadcast, such as &ldquo;paws interference&rdquo; when one puppy gets too rambunctious with his adversary, and the winning team aims for the Lombarky Trophy (a riff on the Super Bowl&rsquo;s Lombardi Trophy).
Over the years, the Puppy Bowl has brought in other animals to spice up the proceedings:&nbsp;a kitten half-time show has been a staple of the event since its second incarnation and squads of rabbits, chickens, hedgehogs and penguins have cycled in and out over the years as cheerleaders.
Needless to say, Puppy Bowl productions are complex and need to be pre-recorded. The average production is shot three months in advance over a two-day span with 17 cameras on the puppies. Some of the footage that gets deleted involves on-field mishaps &mdash;&nbsp;many of the puppies are not paper-trained athletes.

Toyota's Discloses EV Plans: All You Need To Know

Even the world&#39;s largest carmaker wasn&#39;t exempt from the damage caused by a virus that has been holding the world hostage for more than a year. The delta variant has outpaced Japanese automaker&#39;s efforts to deal with the chip supply crisis as Toyota Motor (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tm#NYSE">TM</a>) has warned it will need to trim annual production forecast by 3% due to supply disruptions and forced plant shutdowns.
The announcement comes less than a month after the Japanese company said it was slashing this month&#39;s global production by 40 percent because of supply chain problems.
Toyota has closed plants around the globe as parts fail to reach factories, while Stellantis (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/stla#NYSE">STLA</a>)-owned Peugeot in Europe and Ford Motor Company (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/f#NYSE">F</a>) and General Motors (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/gm#NYSE">GM</a>) in the US have cut shifts due to these supply constraints.
<h4>The Production Trim</h4>
The Japanese giant said it was reducing production by another 70,000 vehicles in September and by 330,000 vehicles in October. It expects to build 9 million vehicles by the end of the fiscal year in March, instead of the previous forecast of 9.3 million. In August, it revealed it September&#39;s output will be cut by 360,000 units.
<h4>Tundra Is Coming</h4>
After seemingly endless teasers, Toyota at least has confirmed that the 2022 Tundra pickup&#39;s debut will take place on September 19th. The new Tundra faces stiff competition from the stellar Ram 1500, new Ford Motor&#39;s F-150, and the recently refreshed Chevrolet Silverado owned by General Motors.
<h4>The EV Chapter Is In The Making</h4>
Late to the electric vehicle race, Japanese carmakers have accelerated plans as sales grow. Toyota plans to invest $13.6 billion in batteries used for electric and hybrid vehicles by the end of the decade. Although it did not disclose any plans or locations for new factories, it reveals its plans for 10 production lines by 2025, which will eventually reach 70. As a side note, a single factory can contain several production lines.
Back in May, Toyota announced it aims to sell eight million electric and hybrid vehicles by the end of the decade, including two million EVs and fuel cell vehicles. Per region, EVs and fuel-cell vehicles will make 40% of group sales in Europe, 15% of North American sales, and 10% of sales in Japan.
Separately, during the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition in April, Toyota said it would launch 15 EV models by 2025, including one jointly developed with compatriot Subaru Corporation (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/fujhy#OTC">FUJHY</a>) that is to be released next year. Overall, Toyota&#39;s spending on batteries that power EVs are set to double compared to last fiscal year as it should reach about 160 billion yen for the fiscal year that will end in March 2022.
Toyota&#39;s plan differs from that of its rivals, including its domestic competitor Honda Motor Co. Ltd (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/hmc#NYSE">HMC</a>). That aims for all its vehicles globally to be fully electric by 2040, rising from 40% aimed for 2030, both globally and in North America.
Toyota&#39;s European rival Volkswagen AG (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/vwagy#OTC">VWAGY</a>) that sells roughly the same number of vehicles is going even beyond producing electric vehicles as it will invest in as many as six large battery factories and it aims to operate 18,000 public fast-charging stations across Europe by 2025.
<h4>Outlook</h4>
The semiconductor crisis is deepening along with a resurgence of Covid-19 cases in Asia where most semiconductor chips are produced. The spread of infections caused by dreadful variants remains unpredictable, all of which make it challenging to maintain operations. Moreover, supply constraints have been exacerbated both by the coronavirus and by natural disasters.
Until recently, Toyota&#39;s supply chain know-how and large chip inventory enabled it to successfully overcome the shortages where it simply applied what it learned throughout its history that contained natural disasters. But this is no longer the case as inventory levels are running thin and the global pandemic is still not showing signs of becoming history.

Tesla shares are now up 1,045% in the last 18 months. The stock&#39;s market cap stands around $480&nbsp;billion at publication time.
From a valuation perspective, something curious appears to be going on with Tesla. As BNN Bloomberg&rsquo;s anchor<a href="https://twitter.com/JonErlichman/status/1328733583004098560"> Jon Erlichman</a> tweeted on Wednesday, Tesla&rsquo;s market cap is now roughly in-line with the combined market caps of nearly the entire legacy auto industry.

The exception to this list is Toyota Motors Corp (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tm#NYSE">TM</a>), which has a market cap of about $227 billion.
One of two things is occurring&nbsp;when it comes to Tesla&rsquo;s valuation. The first possibility is that the market is pricing in the idea that Tesla will eventually gain nearly 100% market share of the global auto market, which seems extremely unlikely.
The other possibility is that investors believe Tesla&rsquo;s EV model, battery power, technology and related infrastructure are creating an entirely new auto industry rather than fully disrupting the existing one.
Not only are investors buying into Tesla&rsquo;s growth, they&#39;re paying an increasingly hefty premium for that growth. In the last three years, Tesla&rsquo;s trailing 12-month revenue has grown by 139.6%, but its market cap has increased by 665% in that time.

Benzinga&rsquo;s Take:&nbsp;It doesn&rsquo;t make sense that nearly all the cars sold in the world in the future will be Tesla vehicles, nor does it make sense that the size of the global auto market will double.
Therefore, Tesla&rsquo;s massive market cap compared to the largest legacy auto companies in the world seems to suggest that investors believe other businesses outside of pure auto unit sales will play an extremely large role in Tesla&rsquo;s future business model.
