Rivian was&nbsp;initially looking to start production of its R2 SUV at its new factory in Georgia. Rivian Expands Illinois Factory As It Gears To Start Production Of R2 SUV

Workers employed at Chinese EV maker BYD Co&#8217;s (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BYDDY#OTC">BYDDY</a>) factory in Brazil reportedly earned nearly twice the Chinese hourly minimum wage in many regions, despite questionable working conditions.
What Happened: Chinese workers hired by BYD&#8217;s contractor Jinjiang and employed at the factory earned about $70 per 10-hour shift, Reuters reported. 
However, the workers had to hand their passports to their new employers and let most of their income be sent directly to China as well as pay a $900 deposit which they could retrieve only after working for six months, the report said, citing a contract signed by one of the several workers who Brazilian authorities said were rescued in December.
Brazilian authorities said in December that they have&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/24/12/42667814/brazil-authorities-halt-work-at-byd-factory-site-after-workers-found-in-slavery-like-conditions" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">halted the construction of the plant that BYD&nbsp;is building in Salvador</a>, Bahia after finding workers living and working in conditions analogous to &#8220;slavery.&#8221;
Authorities ordered that the construction of the factory in Bahia be stopped after rescuing 163 people working at the site, according to a statement by the Labor Prosecutor&#8217;s Office (MPT). The MPT also noted that the conditions constituted "forced labor." If a worker were to terminate their employment contract after six months, they would leave the country without any pay for their work since the company deducted their airfare to and from Brazil, in addition to other costs, the statement said.
Certain clauses in the agreement viewed by Reuters violate labor laws in both Brazil and China, the report said, citing experts and authorities. One of the clauses also gives the firm the power to extend the labor contract by itself for six months, Reuters added.

BYD was planning to start production at the factory in Brazil in 2025. The company is China's largest EV maker and makes plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles which are sold in China, Europe, and also Brazil.&nbsp;BYD even <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/42780142/chinese-player-byd-overtakes-tesla-yet-again-as-worlds-biggest-ev-seller-in-q4">trumped American EV giant Tesla </a>as the world&#8217;s largest battery electric vehicle seller in the last quarter of 2024.

For JEPQ, their fund managers have the autonomy to buy and sell specific names inside of their ETF to potentially offset market volatility. With that being said, JEPQ began trading on the open markets May 4, 2022 at $50.10 per share. On October 13, 2022 shares of JEPQ fell as low as $39.61 — a dramatic -20.8% decline in share price. With that being said, throughout that period of time they paid their investors $2.06 per share in cumulative distributions — a 4.1% yield against their open price of $50.10 in May.

I cannot predict what the Nasdaq-100 will do in 2025. There is clear evidence of the index being historically overvalued, but I'm also a firm believer in the ideology that valuations can always be driven higher by greed. Considering the lack of volatility the index experienced in 2023 and 2024, I have reason to believe we'll experience multiple double-digit pullbacks in the Nasdaq-100 throughout the year.
Assuming that is true, I believe holding shares of QQQI in my portfolio will be the best way to play this looming volatility as the income generated by the shares will offset any price declines experienced by the Nasdaq-100 while their data-driven covered call strategy on only a portion of the fund's notional value will allow for price appreciation in rising markets as well.
Offsetting share price decline with tax-efficient monthly income while participating in rising markets is a recipe for success in 2025.

Intel Attempts Turnaround, Analysts 'Remain On The Sidelines'

Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), the asset management and exchange traded funds arm of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/GS#NYSE">GS</a>), expanded its fast-growing ETF lineup Thursday with the debut of the Goldman Sachs Equal Weight U.S. Large Cap Equity ETF (BATS:GSEW).
The equal-weight methodology is considered one of the oldest iterations of fundamental indexing or smart beta. True to previous form, GSAM is pricing smart beta products in comparable fashion to plain vanilla, cap-weighted index funds. The new Goldman Sachs Equal Weight U.S. Large Cap Equity ETF charges just 0.09 percent per year, or $9 on a $10,000 investment, making it the cheapest equal-weight ETF on the market.
GSEW tracks the Solactive US Large Cap Equal Weight Index. The new ETF &ldquo;seeks to avoid concentration in the largest names. This approach may allow the fund to participate in a broad range of market cycles and potentially reduce exposure to isolated market incidents,&rdquo;<a href="https://www.gsam.com/content/gsam/us/en/individual/products/etf-fund-finder/goldman-sachs-equal-weight-u-s--large-cap-equity-etf.html"> according to GSAM</a>.

	Established Competition</h3>
GSEW will compete directly with the Guggenheim S&amp;P 500 Equal Weight ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/RSP#NYSE">RSP</a>), the largest equal-weight ETF in the U.S. Guggenheim recently cut RSP&#39;s annual expense ratio in half to 0.2 percent, but that is still more than double the fee found on the new Goldman Sachs ETF.

GSEW is the third ETF launched by GSAM since June. In June, GSAM introduced the Goldman Sachs ActiveBeta U.S. Small Cap Equity ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/GSSC#NYSE">GSSC</a>).
GSAM has been offering ETFs for two years with GSEW being the firm&#39;s 11th ETF. The firm had $5.6 billion in ETF assets under management as of Aug. 31, 2017, according to issuer data.

The new ETF tracks the Citi Goldman Sachs High Yield Corporate Bond Index. That benchmark &ldquo;employs a simple, transparent process that is designed to identify an investible universe, then eliminates issuers with relative deteriorating fundamentals to offer exposure to existing sector or market beta,&rdquo; <a href="https://www.gsam.com/content/gsam/us/en/advisors/fund-center/etf-fund-finder/goldman-sachs-access-high-yield-corporate-bond-etf.html">according to GSAM</a>.
GHYB is part of a growing number of bond ETFs that use smart beta strategies. Alternatively-weighted or smart beta is one of the fastest-growing segments of the broader ETF business, but most of that growth is centered around equity funds.
<h3>More On GHYB</h3>
&ldquo;We believe a smart beta approach should provide liquidity while minimizing exposure to factors historically associated with volatility and underperformance,&rdquo; said GSAM.
GHYB holds 131 junk bonds with an effective duration of 3.54 years. Duration measures a bond&#39;s sensitivity to changes in interest rates. The new ETF has a weighted average maturity of 5.75 years. Nearly all of the ETF&#39;s holdings have maturities ranging from three years to 10 years.
GHYB eschews the riskiest junk debt, minimizing credit risk. Nearly 96 percent of the new ETF&#39;s holdings are rated BB or B, ratings that are on the higher end of the junk spectrum. Conversely, GHYB sports only token exposure to speculative CCC-rated bonds.
<h3>A Familiar Playbook</h3>
Previous Goldman ETFs have come to market with either competitive expense ratios, solid capital commitments from early investors or both traits. GHYB continues that tradition. The new ETF charges 0.34 percent per year, or $34 on a $10,000 investment. That makes it competitive with other high-yield bond funds.
&ldquo;Access ETFs are among the most competitively priced ETFs on the market. We believe they offer transparency and can alleviate some of the challenges of buying bonds in the over the counter market,&rdquo; said GSAM.
Additionally, GHYB has nearly $50 million in assets under management, instantly making it one of the more successful new ETFs to come to market this year.
