&nbsp;Jay-Z&#8217;s cannabis brand, Monogram, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/20/12/18751466/jay-zs-cannabis-products-are-finally-here-monograms-light-medium-and-heavy-strains-are-released">launched in 2020</a> amid glowing media coverage in GQ, Vogue, and Vanity Fair soon followed. However, four years later, Monogram seems to have vanished from the market.
Despite its luxury positioning, or perhaps because of it, which featured $50 &#8220;OG Handrolls&#8221; and premium packaging, Monogram's website lists nine retailers, eight in California and one in Arizona, yet none feature the brand's products online. The brand's parent company, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/the-parent-company">The Parent Company</a> (TPCO), seems to be faring no better, <a href="https://www.sfgate.com/cannabis/article/jay-z-linked-california-pot-company-19941342.php">noted</a> SF Gate which first reported this story.
Monogram, the result of a merger of three cannabis companies that went public via a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC), seemed to be in an unbeatable position, with board member Michael Aurbach touting its massive cash reserves and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/jay-z">Jay-Z</a> serving as the chief visionary officer. What could go wrong?
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Then This Happened</h2>
For starters, TPCO, which entered the cannabis market with $575 million in cash, reported a staggering $587 million loss in 2022, primarily due to overvalued acquisitions, unmet sales projections and stiff competition, notes SF. 
After burning through half a billion dollars, TPCO merged with Gold Flora Corp. (CBOE: GRAM) (OTCQB:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GRAM#OTCQB">GRAM</a>) in 2023, but only retained a 49% stake in the new entity. Monogram separated from TPCO in late 2022, though Gold Flora retained distribution rights.
Meanwhile Gold Flora, now grappling with over $56 million in losses and mounting debts, faces lawsuits for unpaid bills and accusations of financial instability. According to <a href="https://www.greenmarketreport.com/gold-flora-losses-continue-to-mount-even-as-revenue-ticks-up/">The Green Market Report</a>, the company has $63.5 million more in debt than it has assets, which prompted the outlet to ask how long until Gold Flora joins "the conga line into receivership and bankruptcy."
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">From Luxury To Loss To Billions, For Jay-Z That Is</h2>
Cannabis investor Seth Yakatan told SFGATE that The Parent Company was spending "mind-boggling" amounts of money during its brief time and that Jay-Z's pricey Monogram products failed to live up to the hype. 
Apparently the $50 hand-rolls also fell flat, especially after a GQ review criticized them for failing to stay lit — a basic requirement for any joint.
"Like many other things we've seen in cannabis surrounding rappers, the hype hasn't met the reality. Monogram was supposed to be an ultra-premium product, and I don&#8217;t know anyone who tried it and thought it was anything more than mid-tier," Yakatan said.

California-based cannabis operator Gold Flora Corp. (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GRAM#OTC">GRAM</a>) is on the brink of receivership (a legal process in which a court appoints an independent party to manage a company's assets and operations, often as a last-ditch effort to recover debts or restructure the business) as it struggles with significant financial challenges. As MJBiz Daily <a href="https://mjbizdaily.com/marijuana-operator-gold-flora-facing-receivership-amid-financial-challenges/">reported</a>, the financial recovery firm Global Assets Liens &amp; Foreclosure has <a href="https://mjbizdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Gold-Flora-Receivership-Press-Release.pdf">filed an ex parte application</a> for receivership in Santa Barbara Superior Court, citing more than $236,725 in unpaid invoices. The hearing is scheduled for November 27.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Receivership Specialist Tapped</h3>
Global Assets has requested Kevin Singer of Receivership Specialists, known for handling cannabis industry cases involving Herbl, High Times and StateHouse Holdings (OTCPK: STHZF), to serve as receiver for Gold Flora. Currently operating under a limited receivership in Delaware, Gold Flora has reported losses exceeding $37 million.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Liquidity Crisis And Cost-Cutting Measures</h3>
Recent filings reveal that Gold Flora is grappling with severe liquidity issues. A proxy statement highlighted a 1-for-50 reverse stock split and plans for substantial share issuance as part of its survival strategy. The company is also implementing cost-cutting measures, including a 10% payroll reduction, according to chief financial officer Marshall Minor during a November 14 earnings call.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Expansion Amid Financial Struggles</h3>
Despite its financial instability, Gold Flora CEO Laurie Holcomb announced plans to expand the company's portfolio, emphasizing the launch of its new Gramlin cannabis products. This move comes as the company works to stabilize operations after its 2023 merger with TPCO Holdings, also known as The Parent Co.
The merger, an all-stock deal, resulted in the formation of a new parent company, operating as Gold Flora Corp. It provided access to a $5 million line of credit from The Parent Co. at a 10% annual interest rate secured by Gold Flora's assets. The deal was projected to streamline operations and deliver annual savings of $20 million to $25 million, though the company's current financial state suggests those benefits have yet to materialize.

Gold Flora's financial troubles highlight ongoing challenges for cannabis operators navigating a competitive and highly regulated industry. The upcoming hearing could determine the company's future as it attempts to balance cost-cutting with expansion plans.

But, consider the task of valuing a company where the current asset value is close to or even below the value of the debt. The companies in the chart all have total liabilities to market cap in excess of 9x, a good measure of distress. In addition, our initial assigned asset value for all of them, except Cannabist (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/cbstf#OTC">CBSTF</a>), is lower than the debt.
Does that mean that the equity is worthless? No, it doesn&rsquo;t. Finance theory teaches us that we can look at equity as a call on the value of the assets with a strike price of the debt. If the value of the assets is more than the value of the debt, then equity holders have the option to liquidate the assets for the difference. If the asset value remains less than the debt, the equity holders can hand the keys to the debt holders and walk away with no further liabilities. In that framework, corporate equity can never be worth zero unless the time for the option runs out. The chart compares our option valuation with the current market cap of each company.
The application of this simple idea is less obvious. How do we get the current value of the assets, for example? We have chosen a maximum of 1x sales and a liquidation value of 1x tangible assets. We realize these values seem low, but remember, we are talking about equities with considerable credit risk. Another question is how do we get the option life? We have chosen the weighted average maturity of the debt. For companies whose debt is already classified as a current liability, we have assigned a one-year life.
Volatility is a crucial assumption of any option model, and we have chosen 30% as our number. This is the same value we use to model the equity call options embedded in convertible debt or warrants. We have found this to be a pretty good value, lower than observed volatilities of equities but responsive to the fact that cannabis equities option valuation is constrained by the difficulty and expense of shorting the stocks. It should be a reasonable, although arguably conservative, estimate of asset value volatility.
We use the Black-Scholes model as our valuation engine since none of these companies are likely to pay a dividend in the near future.
Several of these companies, including Slang (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/slgwf#OTC">SLGWF</a>), Statehouse (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/sthzf#OTC">STHZF</a>), and Tilt (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/tlltf#OTC">TLLTF</a>), are in the process of liquidating assets. Others like AYR (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ayrwf#OTC">AYRWF</a>), Cannabist (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/cbstf#OTC">CBSTF</a>), Gold Flora (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/gram#OTC">GRAM</a>), and Schwazze are not currently in any restructuring process despite our debt metrics indicating distress.
Note that six of the eleven companies have option valuations below their current market caps, while five are considerably higher.&nbsp;&nbsp;
It is natural to view volatility as a negative, but investors should remember that the opposite is true. Distressed cannabis equities have two critical assets that don&rsquo;t appear on the balance sheet: time and hope. With so many potential positive catalysts on the horizon, option valuation techniques are an important tool to consider, particularly for those higher-risk equities.

The company remains Overweight in<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/pablo-zuanic"> Zuanic's ratings</a>, but concerns about its exposure to the Florida market may hinder short-term recovery, particularly given the state's rejection of adult-use legalization in the recent election. Green Thumb reported a stronger Q3 performance, with $287 million in sales, up 2% sequentially. The company stands out with robust cash flow management, generating an adjusted operating cash flow of $139 million, representing 17% of sales.
With relatively low leverage—net debt at just 7% of LTM sales—and healthier <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/11/41832358/green-thumb-grows-revenue-to-287m-in-q3-expands-cannabis-retail-network">adjusted EBITDA margins of 31%</a>, Green Thumb appears well-positioned to navigate the current regulatory uncertainty.
In terms of financial leverage, Cresco Labs (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CRLBF#OTC">CRLBF</a>) carries the highest combined debt and tax liabilities at 80% of last twelve months (LTM) sales, followed closely by Curaleaf (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CURLF#OTC">CURLF</a>) at 79% and Verano at 72%. California Cannabis Industry Titans Headline Benzinga's Anaheim Event Tues. Nov. 12

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ispire Technology</h3>
Ispire Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ISPR#NASDAQ">ISPR</a>) will host its earnings conference call at 8:00 am Eastern Time on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, to discuss the company&#8217;s financial results for its fiscal first quarter ended Sept. 30, 2024.
According to Michael Wang, the company&#8217;s co-CEO, 2024 was "a foundational year for Ispire." The company <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/09/41049463/nasdaq-listed-vaping-company-ispire-reports-31-yoy-increase-in-2024-revenue">reported</a> record revenue and substantial margin expansion while &#8220;strategically positioning us for faster growth in our global nicotine business and intentionally focusing our cannabis vaping hardware on high-quality multi-state operator (MSO) customers,&#8221; Wang continued.
Revenue increased 31.4% year-over-year to $151.9 million as compared to $115.6 million in the 2023 fiscal year.
During an interview on Benzinga&#8217;s Cannabis Insider <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/cannabis-insider">podcast</a> earlier this year Wang said that &#8220;vaping will become the number one way for using <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/06/39291319/exclusive-ispires-ceo-michael-wang-predicts-vaping-will-soon-surpass-cannabis-flower-sales">cannabis within the next 2 or 3 years.&#8221;</a>
Ispire's shares traded 5.56% lower at $6.12 per share at the time of writing on Thursday.

Vertically-integrated California cannabis company Gold Flora Corporation (Cboe Canada: GRAM) (OTCQB:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GRAM#OTCQB">GRAM</a>) will report financial results on Thursday, Nov. 14 for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 2024. The company will host a conference call to discuss the results at 6:00 pm Eastern Time, on the same day.
The second quarter earnings report made public in August revealed $31.64 million in revenue for the period, reflecting a slight decrease of 2% from the previous quarter. Gross profit dropped significantly by 28%, totaling $7.25 million in the second quarter, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/08/40401702/gold-flora-q2-earnings-revenue-soars-though-net-loss-widens-to-24m">resulting in a gross margin of 23%.</a>
In October, Gold Flora&#8217;s common shares were approved to quote on the OTC Market&#8217;s Group Inc.&#8217;s OTCQB Venture Market in the U.S. under the ticker symbol &#8220;GRAM."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Vext Science</h3>
Vext Science, Inc. (CSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VEXT#CSE">VEXT</a>) (OTCQX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VEXTF#OTCQX">VEXTF</a>) a U.S.-based cannabis operator with vertical operations in Arizona and Ohio plans to release its financial results before the market opens on Nov. 21 for the third quarter ending Sept. 30, 2024, The earnings conference call and webcast will take place on the same day at 08:00 am Eastern Time.
Pablo Zuanic, senior analyst at Zuanic &amp; Associates initiated coverage of Vext Science with an Overweight rating earlier this year, highlighting the company's significant growth potential.
As highlighted by Benzinga&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/author/nicol-s-jose-rodriguez">Nicolás Jose Rodriguez</a>, Zuanic calculated that Vext has the most EBITDA torque among the twelve public multi-state operators (MSOs) in Ohio, projecting Vext's EBITDA could grow six-fold by calendar 2026, taking calendar 2023 as the base year. Cannabis Co With Significant Growth Potential And Other Marijuana Operators Will Soon Report Earnings

Marijuana companies would be "treated like normal businesses," if the oppressive restrictions of Section 280E of the Internal Revenue Code, which prevents cannabis businesses from deducting typical business expenses, go away. 
That's according to Darren Weiss, president of Verano Holdings Corp. (Cboe CA: VRNO) (OTCQX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VRNOF#OTCQX">VRNOF</a>), who joined three other industry experts at the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/events/cannabis-conference/">Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference</a> in Chicago on Tuesday for the panel, &#8220;Life After 280E, Different Companies, Different Scenarios: More Money For All?&#8221;
Without paying 280E taxes, companies such as Verano with active operations spanning 14 U.S. states, would have additional dollars to direct toward research and development efforts.
Having extra cash is an "opportunity to engage in more sort of hard science R&amp;D which is not been the bulwark of this industry," Weiss told the crowd at the Marriott Magnificent Mile. He added that single-state operators would also be able to do business successfully and "survive."

In the long run, having more money on their balance sheets without the complexity imposed by 280E would make cannabis businesses more attractive to potential investors, AdvisorShares' Peterson said. Operating like a normal business would make investors see a cannabis company as an opportunity.

<h1 class="wp-block-heading">280E Going Away Is Paired With Rescheduling</h1>
"Companies will benefit just by having more money on their balance sheets that can go into a ton of different places," Peterson said referring to 280E going away, a milestone that will "be paired with rescheduling."
But, cannabis rescheduling — a topic widely discussed and addressed for years — is not plausible in 2024, according to Peterson, even though both of the presidential picks for the November elections seem to be at least pro-cannabis.
Chicago Atlantic's Sack, who manages a lending company to the cannabis industry and has deployed close to two billion dollars, called former President Donald Trump&#8216;s endorsement of rescheduling "a major milestone." Having the Republican candidate endorsing rescheduling changes the dynamic in the conversation from "if" to "when" it will happen, he added.
Sack said the policy change around cannabis alongside 280E going away would&nbsp;make companies like his "more willing to provide capital to the industry."
"I think it&#8217;s an incremental puzzle piece leading to what I think will be really transformational of uplifting," Sack continued.
Gold Flora's Holcomb agrees. Cannabis policy change would also help crack down on illicit sales, she explained, referring to the burning issue in California.
Having more money in the legal market and not being subject to the tax structure that includes local and state taxes in addition to 280E, would allow operators to offer pricing to consumers at the same price as illicit operators.
She added the price will change once California sees more legal stores open. "We only have about a thousand, we need three thousand, so it starts with that," Holcomb said.

Key Cannabis Leaders Gather For Networking At Benzinga's Fall 2024 Conference: The Last Big Event Before The Election

Gold Flora (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GRAM#OTC">GRAM</a>) reported Q2 2024 sales of $31.6 million, marking a 2% sequential decline and falling short of the estimated $34.2 million. According to a report by Zuanic &amp; Associates, the performance of the Californian cannabis company raised concerns despite a generally positive medium-term outlook.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Q2 2024 Financial Performance</h3>
The company also reported an adjusted EBITDA of -$2 million, significantly below the anticipated +$1.1 million. Management attributed the decline in sales to increased discounting by leading brands and seasonal factors.&nbsp;
On a positive note, production output increased by 14% quarter-over-quarter, although inventories dropped by $1.3 million.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Margins And Expenses</h3>
Despite heightened price competition, Gold Flora managed to increase its adjusted cash gross margins from 54% to 57% quarter-over-quarter, partly due to a higher allocation of its production to the company&#8217;s 16 dispensaries.&nbsp;
However,<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cannabis/24/08/40401702/gold-flora-q2-earnings-revenue-soars-though-net-loss-widens-to-24m"> reported</a> all-in gross margins dropped from 31% to 23%. The company&#8217;s recurring operating expenses rose to $17.2 million in Q2, compared to $15.6 million in Q1, while cash holdings decreased by $3.5 million quarter-over-quarter, showing an improvement from prior quarters.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Debt And Strategic Outlook</h3>
Gold Flora&#8217;s total net debt increased to $37 million, with $16 million due within 12 months.&nbsp;
The company is expected to refinance part of its debt, particularly the $22.6 million in convertible debt due by the end of 2025. Despite the disappointing quarterly results, the company&#8217;s strategic approach remains intact, with plans to expand its production capacity and increase its retail footprint.

Gold Flora&#8217;s stock has been underperforming, with shares down 57% over the last 90 days, compared to a 23% decline for the MSOS ETF. Gold Flora Corp. (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GRAM#OTC">GRAM</a>), a vertically-integrated California <a href="http://benzinga.com/cannabis">cannabis</a> company, announced its financial earnings Thursday for the second quarter of 2024. 
<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Q2 2024 Financial Highlights</h4>
<ul>
<li>Revenue was $31.64 million, compared to the $14.96 million reported in the same quarter last year.</li>
<li>Net loss was $23.95 million, compared to the $14.1 million from the second quarter of 2023.</li>
<li>Adjusted EBITDA was a loss of $1.97 million, compared to a loss of $0.28 million in Q2 last year.</li>
<li>Gross profit was $7.25 million, increasing from the $3.94 million in Q2 2023.</li>
</ul>
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Gross Profit Declines And Adjusted Gross Margin Increases</h3>
Gold Flora Corporation generated $31.64 million in revenue, reflecting a slight decrease of 2% from the previous quarter. However, gross profit dropped significantly by 28%, totaling $7.25 million, resulting in a gross margin of 23%. Adjusted gross profit stood at $18.17 million, with an adjusted gross margin of 57%, up from 54% in Q1.
Cash used in operating activities amounted to $4.8 million, leaving Gold Flora with $10.7 million in cash and cash equivalents as of June 30, 2024.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Gold Flora Boosts Flower Harvest Yields, Increases Product Portfolio</h3>
Operationally, Gold Flora achieved a 14% improvement in flower harvest yields following recent cultivation investments. The company also successfully increased first-party product revenue to 30% of total retail sales and continued to expand its product portfolio, notably with the Gramlin brand, now the 5th fastest-growing cannabis brand in California. 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">CEO Commentary</h3>
Despite the challenges, CEO Laurie Holcomb expressed optimism, citing the company&#8217;s strong market positioning and cultivation capabilities as key advantages moving forward.

Group 1 is up 14% YTD, driven by an 81% gain by Trulieve and a 142% gain by Grown Rogue. Viridian correctly expected that the financially most robust companies would outperform in the current environment for several reasons:

The capital markets have shown little sign of opening up, and what capital is available is expensive.

<li>
The market has priced in very little of the theoretical value of rescheduling.&nbsp;
</li>
<li>
In this environment, having the ability to buy back stock is a great advantage. Companies in Group 1, including GTI and Verano, have announced buybacks, and we would not be surprised to see Trulieve join the club. Buybacks do not preclude the issuance of new stock at higher prices.
</li>
<li>
Expansion opportunities in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida require capital, and the strongest companies are best positioned to make inroads.
</li>
</ul>

<li>
Group 2 performance was dragged down by YTD losses of 30% by MariMed and 33% by Vext, somewhat offset by a 63% gain by Cansortium.
</li>
<li>
Group 3 is somewhat of an anomaly driven by the 46% gain by Glass House, the 14% gain by AYR, and the 107% gain by Goodness Growth.
</li>
<li>
Group 4, down nearly 25%, was punished by the 30% decline in Schwazze, the 52% drop in Cannabist, and the 44% selloff in IAnthus.
</li>
<li>
Given the continuing capital constraints, lack of new investment, and stubbornly low stock prices, we advise Investors to maintain a majority of investment funds in the strongest group, where Verano, Trulieve, and Cresco continue to appear relatively cheap. In a best-case environment with multiple successful catalysts, this positioning may underperform more risky selections. We, accordingly, recommend a barbell portfolio with a majority of funds in Group 1, with targeted investments in companies of lower strength that have positive torque from Florida and Pennsylvania catalysts.

Cannabis Chart Of The Week: Is Financial Strength Related To YTD Stock Performance?

"For us, everything starts with cultivation," Laurie Holcomb founder and CEO of Gold Flora (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GRAM#OTC">GRAM</a>) told the crowd gathered at the recent Benzinga cannabis event &#8211;<a href="https://cannabismarketspotlight.com/new-jersey/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cannabis Market Spotlight</a> on Monday in New Jersey. "We&#8217;ve got 107,000 square feet of canopy. It&#8217;s all indoor. So we&#8217;re one of the largest indoor cultivators in California.&#8221;
This seed-to-sale publicly traded cannabis company is the third in terms of retail footprint and eighth in the California market in terms of shelf space. And that's not all, the company has about million dollars of accounts receivable (AR), which is a "phenomenal statistic, given the size of Gold Flora," according to Tom Zuber, a managing partner at Zuber Lawler, which represents top cannabis companies and Fortune 500 clients.
In this exclusive chat, Holcomb shared the company's secret sauce to this success while also tackling the hot topic of challenges and opportunities associated with East cannabis companies going out West and more.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Finding The Right Partner</h2>
Among the biggest challenges is capital, like everywhere in the industry. That's why Holcomb highlighted the importance of finding the right partner and the right licensing agreement as well as having the right law firm. She says that in 2016 when she founded the company it was the "heyday of cannabis," and that "capital was free flowing." Today, there's not much capital out there, she noted. That is why the company had to be vertical, but now looking to bring brands to the East Coast, Holcomb would avoid infrastructure expenses and focus instead on finding the right partners.
Zuber asked, "What are your criteria?"
Holcomb stressed the importance of finding professional growers. "If I want a partner to put my flower or my strains, genetics, into their grow, they have to be a good grower. And believe me, when we started out year one, our grower was ODS, that&#8217;s original dog shit. Products don&#8217;t sell. Consumers know the difference. So you need to have an excellent grower. You need to understand genetics. You have to have the right partner. That&#8217;s your price point. And for us, we want to deliver the highest quality cannabis at the best price, because today, consumers are price conscious because of inflation."
Another important lesson Holcomb shared at Benzinga conference was not to get ahead of packaging. The rules change often so a company needs to stay ahead of the game so as not to end up throwing away a lot money when laws change.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Maintain a Good Level Of AR?</h2>
AR is a balance of money due to a firm for goods or services delivered or used but not yet paid for by customers. In cannabis, companies often struggle with huge ARs as many dispensaries do not pay up on time, or ever.

You&#8217;ve got to "have a good supply chain. It&#8217;s one of the reasons that we&#8217;re vertically integrated in California. We have less of a reliance on third parties," Holcomb said.
It&#8217;s not always about vertical integration, however. Another key point to maintaining a good AR is discipline. On Holcomb&#8217;s list not to deliver are some 700 dispensaries because they don't pay. "You have to be very disciplined. That also means you&#8217;re probably not growing your brand as rapidly as you want. So you have to balance your top-line revenue with do you want to get collections."
"I am hoping that the growth is slower and people pick great partners, they launch their brands, have limited number of cultivators" to avoid overproduction as that doesn't help anybody. "So, I think, slow and steady, is better," Holcomb concluded.

He elaborated on the operational advantages in Europe compared to the U.S., particularly noting the absence of certain punitive tax measures.
&#8220;One of the big ones is they do not have something up to 280E in Europe. So this punitive tax that we&#8217;ve all been paying in the U.S. is not a thing in Europe,&#8221; Darin added.

Holcomb talked about California, known for its sophisticated yet competitive cannabis market. 
&#8220;We are literally in a knife fight,&#8221; Holcomb said about the intense competition and innovation within the state, as California has the fifth largest GDP in terms comparable to major economies like the UK and India.
Holcomb discussed the comprehensive approach her company has taken, from cultivation to retail, highlighting the strong brand presence and consumer sophistication that could be leveraged internationally. 
&#8220;We&#8217;ve been able to accomplish 66% adjusted gross margins in our market. We felt we can take that same business model, move it to other states, perhaps other countries, and take the brands with us and be successful,&#8221; she explained.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Global Supply Chain And Market Opportunities</h3>
Weiss echoed the sentiments about the interconnectedness of the global cannabis market. 
&#8220;We are part of a global supply chain. We buy products from China, we get supplies from the Netherlands,&#8221; Weiss noted. 
He also discussed the broader implications for the cannabis space. &#8220;We&#8217;re an industry that employs half a million people in the United States, about the same as the airline industry&#8230;$100 billion worldwide over the next six years.&#8221;
