The new funding round will help accelerate the development of Abstract, a blockchain designed to power consumer apps and drive the mass adoption of crypto.
"Abstract will open up a new world of possibilities for crypto-native developers and global brands – in turn creating the dominant crypto consumer platform," Abstract co-investor and Cube Labs CEO Michael Lee said. "We are at the beginning of a new era where blockchain technology will reinvent the idea of digital ownership and seamlessly integrate into our daily lives, enhancing how we live, work, connect, and play."
The announcement said Abstract is built to lead the consumer crypto revolution and bring billions of people onchain for the first time. Abstract's technology is said to make the process of developing decentralized apps cheaper and easier.
Abstract was co-invented by blockchain entrepreneurs Michael Lee, Luca Netz and Lorenzo Melendez and engineered by web3 developers Cygaar, 0xbeans, and stinkypablo.

Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/BBY#NYSE">BBY</a>) reported better-than-expected results for its July quarter, and there are a number of catalysts to drive shares &ldquo;to new highs,&rdquo; according to CFRA.

The Best Buy Analyst: <a href="https://www.tipranks.com/analysts/camilla-yanushevsky">Camilla Yanushevsky</a> maintained a Buy rating on Best Buy&nbsp;with an unchanged $130 price target.&nbsp;

The Best Buy Thesis: The retailer has a dominant market position, having captured share from Circuit City and HH Gregg (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/HGGGQ#OTC">HGGGQ</a>), Yanushevsky said in a Tuesday note. Best Buy has more robust omni solutions to rival Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) and has shifted focus to services, with the acquisitions of GreatCall, Critical Signal Technologies and BioSensics, the analyst said.&nbsp;

Those services&nbsp;are not only underappreciated by the market, but also timely given the high interest in monitoring health at home, Yanushevsky said.&nbsp;

Best Buy reported GAAP earnings of $1.65 per share, meaningfully higher than the 89 cents per share reported in the same quarter last year, while revenues grew 3.9% to $9.9 billion.

Among the catalysts for Best Buy&nbsp;shares, the analyst highlighted a shift in trends to remote learning, the 5G upgrade cycle, a delayed Amazon Prime Day and next-generation video game console launches.

CFRA raised its Best Buy&nbsp;earnings estimate for fiscal 2021 from $5.76 per share to $6.31 per share.

&ldquo;COVID-19 has fundamentally changed how consumers learn, work and interact, which should accelerate tech innovation and make BBY&#39;s mission even more timely,&rdquo; she said.&nbsp;

BBY Price Action: Shares of Best Buy were down 5.94% at $110.48 at last check Tuesday.

After Best Buy's Q2 Beat, CFRA Says Retailer Has Catalysts To Drive Stock

When hhgregg, Inc. (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/HGGGQ#OTC">HGGGQ</a>) filed for bankruptcy in early March, it indicated a plan to close 88 of its 220 stores. On Friday, <a href="http://fortune.com/2017/04/07/hhgregg-bankruptcy-2/">the company announced</a> it would be closing the remaining 132 stores.
Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/BBY#NYSE">BBY</a>) is likely to be the &ldquo;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/17/04/9256645/best-buy-would-be-major-beneficiary-of-an-hhgregg-liquid">biggest beneficiary of this news</a>&rdquo; and gain market share, Deutsche Bank&rsquo;s Mike Baker said in a report. He maintains a Hold rating on Best Buy, with a price a target of $46.
<h3>Advantage Best Buy</h3>
Best Buy could experience some pressure on sales in the near term, as hhgregg&rsquo;s store organize liquidation sales. Following this, Best Buy stands to benefit, Baker stated.
hhgregg had recorded sales of $1.76 billion for 2016, with appliances accounting for 60 percent of the total sales, at $1.06 billion, and consumer electronics accounting for 35 percent.
Even if Best Buy can capture 20 percent of that, it would add about $335 million, or 0.9 percent to comps, &ldquo;which for a company that historically comps in the down 1 percent to up 1 percent range, could be meaningful,&rdquo; Baker pointed out.
The analyst mentioned that Best Buy was able to pick up 20&ndash;30 percent of &ldquo;the up for grab sales&rdquo; when Circuit City Stores Inc liquidated in 2009.

Hhgregg, Inc. (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/HGGGQ#OTC">HGGGQ</a>) has filed a form 8-K stating its plans to commence <a href="http://www.twice.com/news/retail/hhgregg-prepares-liquidate/64701">going-out-of-business sales</a> in the event the company is unable to find a buyer by Friday. Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="/stock/BBY#NYSE">BBY</a>) would be &ldquo;the major beneficiary of an hhgregg liquidation,&rdquo; Loop Capital&rsquo;s Anthony Chukumba said in a report.
While reiterating a Buy rating and a price target of $58 for Best Buy, Chukumba raised the diluted EPS estimate for fiscal 2017 from $3.65 to $3.77, reflecting the sales transfer from closed stores. The analyst added, however, that hhgregg&rsquo;s liquidation sales could exert pressure on Best Buy&rsquo;s performance in the first half of 2017.
<h3>Best Benefit To Best Buy</h3>
A location-by-location analysis of hhgregg&#39;s stores indicated that more than 90 percent had a Best Buy &ldquo;within five miles (and in most cases, within 1&ndash;2 miles),&rdquo; the analyst noted. He added that over 90 percent of hhgregg&#39;s product assortment could be found at Best Buy.
&ldquo;We believe former hhgregg shoppers would be more likely to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/16/12/8780677/best-buys-market-share-gains-likely-to-continue">migrate to Best Buy stores</a> than large format discounters, home improvement chains, or online given the former&#39;s more similar store format and customer service levels,&rdquo; Chukumba commented.
Hhgregg&#39;s liquidation would be a positive catalyst for Best Buy&rsquo;s shares, which are currently trading at a significant discount to its peer group.
